| 1) Who is stronger? Don't talk to me about stats. Give your own reasons from what you've read (inferences).
2) Who would win in a head-to-head? Please give an analysis.
3) Who is the superior combatant in general? Again, please explain.
Of course, I should state the obvious; these comparisons are based on both being at their prime and in good health. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades.

| Whomever got Schwarzenegger to be casted as him in the movie.
So ya, Conan looks like a clear winner. [)]
But if you really must have an opinion on it, while it been some time since I read Chronicle or Legends, I do feel that Wulfgar has committed more 'Feats of Strength' then Caramon. Meaning that RAS leaves a greater impression of power in our barbarian friend then H&W do with Caramon. | | "I was sittin' here eatin' my muffin, drinkin' my coffee, replayin' the incident in my head, when I had what alcoholics refer to as a moment of clarity." - Jules Winnfield Sales/Trades Bad (1): Ironfist Boulderbender Trades/Sales completed (8.): Danthl, Dafrca, Garyaxe, qillan_dvra, realmaster, Vandal_Savage, cavedweller, unearthed arcana. | Skirkmish wise I would have to go with Wulgar that magic hammer is powerful. Personally I like Caramon though, (but I could be biased since I'm a big fan of DL) | | Champion of Flint Fireforge Knight of The DarkMantle KoK: The Easily Swayed "I use to have a working probelm, until it got in the way of my gaming."

| I'm in no shape or fashion a Salvator groupie but from my reading, and contrasting the written descriptions of them, I'd say Wulfgar is a bigger hulk then Caramon. Even without the magic hammer, Wulfgar's had more physical attacks where he's used his bare hands, gone a little nuts etc.
Also, given opponents they've faced down in writing I'd give Wulfar the edge there as well. Yes I know Caramon fought dragons and dracions but compared to being tortured by a demon and fighting the plytora of baddies Wulfgar and crew have...
Not on topic but I thought it important to add, of the two I think Caramon's character is by far the better developed and relates to the reader's heartstrings much more then Wulfgar has/will. | | You see! There ARE others out there just like me. What? Why are laughing?

| | By the book descriptions as I recall them, Wulfgar. I don't recall Caramon ever taking on a cave of giants ... but I'd go with Conan too ... and not that pansy Arnie version, either. [:0] As much as I enjoy DL I have to say Salvatore's descriptions of Wulfgar puts him as a beast of a man where Caramon is just a strong man. Even tho Aegis Fang is magical, Wulfgar still threw it thru 3 wooden targets in the hall and then took the wall out [:D] That's all in the arm [:p]quote: The real question is whos the bigger drinker

| | While Caramon and Wulgar are scuffling, do they get help from their girlfriends? | At first, I thought that this was about choosing which miniature would better. I would prefer Wulfgar to be made, since I think the picture of Wulfgar on the cover of the first book in the Icewind Dale trilogy would make a neat looking miniature.
As far as who is stronger, I would think Wulfgar. I think that the magic weapons in RAS books are more powerful than those typical of Dragonlance. Also, I get the impression that Wulfgar is higher level than Caramon. | | "Look to God and live." Alma 37:47 Vindicated Champ of Hippogriff (Arcadian Hippogriff) and Uncommon Horse

| | Since they explained one of Caramon's Feat of Strength as "Lifting up the entire New Sea.", I would say that beat out anything Wulfgar ever did. (Though I admit my Drizzt lore has become fuzzy over the years) | | Champion of the Beholder and Beholderkin

| | I think Weis and Hickman were writing characters that someone actually played, hence Caramon is a little more "believable". The only author I know who creates "superhero characters" more than Salvatore is Greenwood with Elminster. Salvatore's characters seem to do the impossible on a daily basis. Over and over again. and again. I enjoyed Salvatore's books when I read them, but I read the two dragonlance trilogies over and over again. It was a story about a group, not one character, while most of the Drizzt books were focused on Drizzt. Bruenor was my favorite character from those books. Weis and Hickman were just better writers. | | E-mail | Have/Want List | Reference thread "Whatever you do, don't drop a blade barrier on a troll."

Can't argue with logic like that! [:p]
I'd pick Caramon because: 1) I prefer the Heroes of the Lance books to the Icewind Dale books 2) Caramon in his prime was a monster; Wulfgar had a shiny hammer 3) Raistlin as a sidekick is infinitely superior to Drizzt as a sidekick [:p] 4) Caramon could borrow Tika's +3 Vorpal Frying Pan thereby taking away any advantage to Wulfgar for the shiny hammer.

| Caramon ofcourse since he is a more believable character than Wulf , he doesnt need any magic hammer ,he was a gladiator and lifting up the new sea at his feat of strength. Ohh and Tika is faithful and clear while Cat loves Wulfgar.....but also Drizzt. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

| In a straight one-on-one battle, definitely Wulfgar.
I like Caramon's character more, and the Dragonlance books were definitely better written. Caramon may have more heart and character, but we're not talking about the Oscars here.
If this were the UFC fantasy version, Caramon will tap out within seconds of Wulfgar grabbing hold of him. If he doesn't, he'll be dead. Remember, Wulfgar crushed the skull of his mighty chieftain with his barehands. And Wulfgar endured torture in the hands of Errtu, so he can be a little unbalanced and homicidal.
Based on the books alone, Wulfgar has seen more fights and have battled more powerful monsters. Magical hammer or not, he definitely has more XP. I mean, the only reason I really read Salvatorre is because of his incredibly detailed combat scenes. The rest is really tacky, soap-operatic baggage. [:p]

| I'm a huge fan of Dragonlance, but I think I'd have to go with Wulfgar. He just *seems* more powerful. I mean Caramon was strong and heroic, but in an everyman kind of way. He seemd like someone you could meet or something. With Wulfgar, he just seemed legendary I thought.
And like I said, I'm a huge DL fan and love that setting the most and their characters. Thats my feeling at least.. | | Champion of a Knight of Takhisis/Knight of Neraka
