Is anyone else planning on getting this book? It looks pretty sweet to me (despite the rather high price) largely because I am a big fan of Malhavoc Press's work and this is something that appeals to me: a fully realized city supplement that goes into a level of interesting detail that other similar products produced to date lack. It also has a payment plan which I find convenient. [:P]

The big question for me is whether to run it with D&D or Arcana Evolved. Hrm....

I am not gone.

I'm thinking about it.

I'll have a really hard time justifying the price, as I probalby won't have an opportunity to use it for at least 2 years!

But I too really like Monte, and have enjoyed all his stuff.

Yeah, definitely. The more I read about it the more I like it. I can justify it by making sure I play it in my next campaign... Knowing my PCs they will get themselves TPKed soon. [:P]

It's deffinitely got my interest perked. Hefty price tag but I might see how willing the group is to passing the hat if they really want me to run it (would be around Thanksgiving before they wrap things up enough to delve a new campaign).

You see! There ARE others out there just like me. What? Why are laughing?

Yeah. I like the fact that it has a payment plan for pre-ordering takes a bit of the sting off the price.

Im not a fan of Monte at all really. He tries to do too many goofy things with the game in my opinion. Still I plan on buying Ptolus as soon as it comes out as I like to support these kinds of releases. Im sure theres enough cool stuff in it for me to pillage to make it worth it.

Looking for someone to cosponser a midwest DDM event. let me know if your interested!

What do you mean by goofy things?

I love Monte when he does his big adventures like RttToEE and The Banewarrens.
Im not to keen on all his new rules however. Arcana Unearthed and his Books of Eldritch Might are unecessary junk.

I really think Im going to get Ptolus. Its just to cool to pass up. And the payment plan and the free stuff if you preorder just makes it to tempting.

I won't have a chance to use it anytime soon, and the price is on the high side for normal reading material.

I maaaay pick it up at some point, but I have a lot of other entertainment expenditures (just bought a new computer and will be buying another one for my wife, am thinking about getting a $700ish camera, MMOs, DDM, WotC D&D books, etc) and I haven't ended up using most of the other Monte/Malhavoc stuff I've picked up.

On the contrary, I love Arcana Evolved/Unearthed. I really like he did with the magic system, and think the non-magical stuff too. Though at this point I think I am more likely to run an Arcana Evolved/Iron Heroes hybrid than a pure Arcana Evolved game.

Yeah, I like this as well. Definitely helps. I'm seriously thinking now about buying it. Justification? Bah, I don't need no stinkin' justification!

Exactly!
I still want to run a Shackled City campaign, and an Age of Worms campaign, Then I wouldnt mind doing the Dragonlance Age of Mortals trilogy as a campaign.
Oh and Red Hand of Doom someday....And RttToEE
Oh and an Eberron game using that trilogy that was released.

I WILL NEVER USE PTOLUS! YET I MUST HAVE IT!!

Also, on the contrary I have every intention of using it. In fact if I am spending that much for a tabletop gaming product I BETTER use it damnit. And if my players don't agree I will find new players! [:D]

Shackled City has been fun so far! We're through the first installment now. (No spoilers plz, I have players who read here.)

Finally killed a player in the final fight (mostly because the player made a poor positioning choice), but so far it isn't seeming as much of a meat grinder as reviews have indicated.

That's because the poor saps who played it before didn't have a mountebank!
