| | im thinking of creating a monster based off of terry goodkinds book called the mord sith. basically they are female fighters immune to magic attacks from spellcasters and if a spellcaster uses magic against them the spellcaster becomes helpless and they have to make a will type save to break the control or to use magic or even to do any actions. any way of creating something like this without breaking the game? | | The ROCK layeth the smacketh down. | Seeing as how they are able to turn the spellcaster's power back on the spellcaster, I'd probably start with Spell Resistance and Spell Reflection -- just to make it fit better with D&D mechanics. Although certain creatures (golems) are generally immune to most spells, I'm not sure how common you want that to be. (I also rule in my games that golems are not immune to energy effects that don't trigger spell resistance checks.)
If a MordS ith successfully avoids a spell due to a spell effect, you might be able to make a check for spell reflection. I'd have to look at some of the existing stuff out there. The Occult Slayer looks like it would be a good place to start, as might the SpellThief. A Spellthief/Occult Slayer progression might fit quite well mechanically, and you would only need to add flavour. Perhaps something from Vile Darkness (I don't have that book) to add the torture tendencies of the Mord Sith. | |

Then how about a PrC. Give it an increasing ability in Spell Resitance and Spell Reflection as it increases as well as any other appropriate uniques abilites theey possess in the books.
BTW, what was the publication date on the book in which they appear? I am just curious if it is after 1977, cos maybe it's jsut me but the name "Mord Sith" seems like he's sampling from both the LotR and SW badass buffet. | | Champion of the Gelatinous Cube. Nemesis of Gnomes and Dinosaurs.
