| I have a question for Eberron experts. I've never even cracked the books, so I have now geographic info and I kinda need some.
I have a critter that I'm writing up for Knowledge Arcana issue 6 and in the write-up I have to include a MonsterNameHere in Eberron section.
The monster is kinda associated with disease and plagues.
It is the kind of thing that can show up in small swarms, and isn't likely to last long in a city that has a well-regulated team of mages or clerics that could concentrate their efforts on eliminating such pests. I'm thinking grubby port areas, swampy regions, or areas where refuse might be ignored are all good sites for infestation.
Anyone able to give me some cities or regions that fit this?
Thanks.

| | Just about any of the nations not part of the Five could fit, but ports in Droaam, Q'Barra, or the Shadow Marches seem to fit best. | | Champion of the Entire Monster Manual 1! (Click link to see current progress!) Uncommon Painting Competition 2 Winner | |

| The Demon Wastes seems ideal for this especially if its an aberration.
Q'barra and the Shadow Marches have alot of swamp land that could be breeding grounds for insects and swarms.
If the monster is magically created, by design or accident it could originate in the Mournland.

I don't actually think Demon Wastes is a good choice for an aberration; aberrations in Eberron are largely the domain of the daelkyr, and the Demon Wastes is the land of the Lords of Dust, not the daelkyr. Also, diseases don't do really well in sparsely-populated areas. For the most part, diseases and population density have a strong correlation.
I'd put something vague about a rumored nest of them in the depths of Sharn, and how they keep thinking they've wiped them out only to have them pop up in another area a few months later. | | Anson on WotC boards

Hmmm you have a point I was going on the idea that the lords of dust created something and unleashed it from the demon wastes into the Eldeen Reaches, the abberation angle came from ,and I could be wrong, but isn't there a daelkyr seal in the demon wastes.

| There is that one settlement (I've forgotten the name) in the Demon Wastes that seems appropriate. The problem is that the Wastes aren't really gonna be visited until players are at least mid-levels.
I'd go with Darguun ... Rhukaan Draal, the big goblinoid city. It's populous and poor enough to have such infestations, but central enough and civilized enough to be a hub for major adventures. | | Jeff "Wayne Laredo" Wilder | Email | Have/Want List | Trade Policies | Are You an Ethical Trader?

| Q'Barra or the Shadow Marches would be ideal. Deep in the shadow marches in particular where the druids don't get to as much would have places like that. And of course there is always Xen'drik, the catchall continent :P
Also in deeper layers of Sharn itself that might be possible. In the Undercity etc there is much less care and regulation, the goblins don't have the organization to worry about it and the guard sure does not care. | | Im out- find me on Hordelings if you want to chat.

I'll echo the suggestions of the Shadow Marches, Q'Barra, and the sewers and depths of Sharn, but Rhukaan Draal is an *excellent* idea, if only because I love hobgoblins, and their political maneuverings in Darguun in particular, so damn much. | | Cassael's Lament - An Eberron Story Vindicated Champion of Quori Champion of the Bone Knight
