Just an update on my AOW Paladin. He's still alive, and now L6. His AC is 20 and his HP are 44 thanks to Improved Toughness feat, and an amulet of health. The HP rolls at various levels were not the best - 6,6,6,2,2 so I took Divine Vigor at L6 - two feats to prop up my sad dice rolls and low Con, and spending 4,000gp to get the amulet.
Even though I put 13 into Int to take Combat Expertise, I haven't been able to grab that feat yet, due to health priorities. Here's hoping I make it to L9 to boost my AC.
I'm enjoying the character, but I gotta tell you, my mount dishes it out better than me, and has a higher AC (I bought Breastplate Barding for him) and more HP (until I rev up with DV). Normally the group rallies round the Paladin in a fight, our group runs to my horse, hehe.

I have always been here.

Nice to hear someone not power-gaming. In our campaign, those two rolls of 2 you got for levels 4 and 5 might already spell the doom for a paladin, especially if he is the party's only front line fighter.

It happens a more often than you might think. In a fairly new campaign I am in I have the highest level Character, a 5th level cleric, but fewer HP than anyone, even the Sorceror. I started with an 11 CON, and max 8 HP at first level. Cool. Have since rolled a total of 7 more HP total in 4 d8 rolls for a grand total of 15 HP. Fortunately it was worked well with my principle battle mode (Archery - being a Priest of Artemis the Hunter), but it does make for some scary enocounters when incoming foes try to single me out for attacks. Wand of Bear's Endurance goes a long way to keeping people up (including myself since I gain over 40% more hit points from the spell...sigh)

Built the addition for this addiction, now on to the "gaming table" project....

This post reports the passing of the Paladin Sir Nathaniel Perrin.
Died in the service of his god. Struck down by a spawn of Kyuss on 3 June in the year 2006. Somewhere in the Mistmarsh.

Now here is something interesting. You may recall the sad demise of my Paladin some 2 months ago, under tragic and 'questionable' circumstances. Did I complain? No, not a word of a whine in my earlier posts.
Well in the meantime, my 'new' druid (true Neutral) has been causing conflict/mayhem with his inability to integrate. He has issues with a wizard PC who tries to run things his way, hehe. We have had some hilarious roleplaying sessions. The druid has been close to taking out the wizard. There had been three other PC deaths in the meantime and each time, the DM later admitted a 'mistake' so that the PCs were still there with us for the next session.
The DM suggested at our last session that I might like to resurrect my Paladin. Whether this is because he now realises that he stuffed up my death earlier, or whether he fears that the Druid will attempt to take out the mage, I don't know, but this weekends session should be amusing.
I'm not one for being brought back from the dead. Sure it's a game mechanic, but it takes the pressure off players and DMs to 'do it right', so my Pally, despite going down to several back-to-back questionable rulings (blame me, I never argue a DMs rulings) will not be coming back.
As for the Druid, let's wait and see. The mage is skating on thin ice and if it comes to a fight, I'm pretty sure my druid can take him. He is L8, the Druid L7. It just depends how much help the wizard gets from the rest of the group and the DM, lol. The good news is that with our group, we'd all enjoy this weird twist and get on with the aftermath. Everyone knows this potential explosive encounter is coming, emails have been flying back and forth between sessions. Nobody, not even the DM knows whether the wizard or druid will back down.
Whether the druid attempts to take out the wizard, or just leaves the group is uncertain, but barring some unforseen character shifts or serious interventions (unlikely), one or the other is on the cards for this weekend.
Some new characters to be created in all probability.
I'll let you know.

I'd just take out the wizard if I was you.

If you win, you kick the crap out of the wizard! Good.

If you lose, you resurrect the Paladin. Good.

Win win for you.

The wizard on the other hand has a Win Lose situation. :)

All you have to do is convince your DM to resurrect your Paladin, while your Druid is still around and then have them both beat the crap out of the Wizard.

:)

Fun little game...

A quick question, does your druid have any summoning feats? Because summon nature's ally is actually a damn good series of spells. I have seen a party druid summoning elementals just lay waste to the opposition.

My druid was the kick-assingest druid ever. Spell focus conjuration, augmented summoning, natural spell, to name a few feats. He could pretty much lay waste to the entire party if he had a mind to.
The big encounter on the weekend had our L7/L8 party up against a wimpy CR13 lich and 8 CR6 tanks - bloodhulk fighters with some bonus HD.
The lich did a horrid wilting on the wizard, took off both his legs, followed up by ripping off an arm. My druid was having a lot of fun watching this, but by some bloody miracle, the wizard survived. While the fighters took out his minions the poor lich took a beating from 2 dire apes and 2 dire wolves. When he was done, the rest of the group asked if we were out of combat. My druid looked at the wizard and said his creatures still had several rounds left before they would vanish. I loved the looks on their faces. After a long silence of a few seconds I dispelled them, lol.
The druid left the party to stay in his swamp. The party headed off for Greyhawk. The paladin refused to be resurrected, so I have a new character. He is really nice too - a Cl5/Stormlord2. Rolling 4d6 x 6 his best rolls were two 16s, and his worst - two 8s. He is neither bright nor good looking, but very nice.
The prerequisites for stormlord were pretty steep, but with 18 str (incl + 2 for gauntlets of ogre power), and wisdom 19 (+1 @ L4 +2 for periapt of wisdom), and zen archery, point blank shot and wf javelin he packs a punch = +11 to hit for 1d6 +5 and 1d6 lightning.
The good news is that he is too dumb to realise the wizard is as ass, so he really likes him.
