I like to throw different types of adventures at my group always looking to mix up the terrain, environment, etc. We just finished a dungeon crawl in a ruined drow stronghold and will next be doing a mission revolving around the wilderness (forest/mountains). I am looking ahead and thinking of throwing in something to do with the water (ocean., lake, river travel, underwater, etc.).

I was wondering off the top of your heads if any of you know of any WotC/TSR modules or dungeons adventures which involve this sort of setting. I have basically all TSR/WotC modules going back to the originals (the Keep, Isle of Dread, etc) as well as every dungeon. I basically collect modules.

Any thoughts/recommendations would be appreciated.

well there not WOTC but Kingdoms of Kalamar has two that deal with water and ships.
the Coin trilogy, especially the first one, take place in and around Reanaaria bay. You are traveling from place to place by ship and have a few ship board encounters including a sea serpent and a ghost ship.

The Sirens Prize, also Kingdoms of Kalamar, deals with a haunted pirate ship,an abandoned lighthouse and a seaside town with a secret.

I converted both to other campaign setting without much problem so if you like collecting modules , as do I [:)],and want a couple with water encounters you might want to pick up some of the kezner & co. modules.

Way back in first edition, I vaguely remember being transported by ship (can't remember if there was any combat though) in a module called Scourge of the Slave Lords. I believe it was the adventure that followed the Temple of Elemental Evil.

There was a series of three modules in 2nd Ed. where the players oppose some sahuagin. I think one of the modules was called "Sea of Blood." I can try to dig them up if people are interested.

I don't believe that Temple of Elemental Evil had any plot connection to the A-series (the Slave Lords quartet). I traded my Slave Lords modules away long ago, so I'm not sure how much water-travel occurs in them.

Recently, let's see. . .

A Dungeon issue within the past couple years ago involved the PC's sneaking onto a (sinking) ship in the midst of a storm to destroy an Aspect of Asmodeus.

I believe that the Freeport series of modules has a fair amount of water travel/encounters in it.

And, obviously, the new Adventure Path (coming in three months or so) will deal with the Isle of Dread extensively, so there has to be watery stuff there too. [:D]

If you use ship-tp-ship combat, I enthusiastically recommend the little plastic-punch out ships from Wizkids' Pirates of the Spanish Main/Crimson Coast/etc. They are *perfect* representational models for anything naval.

Cheers,

Dungeon 111.. "Strike on Rabid Dawn" good adventure with the cult of Asmodeus and yes it has some water base in it.I believe set around level 15.

kyrin: The Sea of Blood was actually a module which I used a couple of times in games already. Some of my players are still from that time so a thrid run wouldn't be the best. I enjoyed those modules very much. I have to check the dungeon module. That might be something which would work well. If there are any other suggestions it would be great!

Thanks!

I don't know what levels your lookoing for, so I'll just throw some out there.

The U series (1E), U1 The Sinister Secret of Salt, U2 Danger at Dunwater, and U3 The Final Enemy, U3 is the most aquatic in nature.

GA1 (2E) The Murky Deep. Both can be seen here:

Wyrmskull Throne (2E)

Evil Tide, Night of the shark, and Sea of Blood (2E,) these are Monstrous Arcana adventures.

I'll second the Coin Trilogy, I've DM'ed it and it's solid. I've never DM'ed Sirens Prize, but Kenzer produces quality stuuff so I'd bet it's a good adventure.

"The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh" (1E)is half based on invading a smuggler's ship, but that would have to be highly modified for higher-level characters.

Otherwise, look up some basic ship info and do a little pirate hunting. I drew up a simple, fun adventure in about a half hour using that premise.

I love sea-adventures (pirates, smugglers, etc). I have been using these ships for our current side-game where we play pirates.

It is actually a ton of fun. Anyways, you mentioned you like to mix up terrain, etc and thought maybe these would interest you.

Have fun in the high seas. :)
