| Hey all,
I'm looking for someone with the following traits: 1) is a member of the Wizards boards in addition to here 2) is interested in writing an adventure for D&D
The Fall '06 issue of Knowledge Arcana is in the works, and I'm looking for articles. One of the pieces I want to include is an adventure. I have another writer lined up, and he's hard at work getting one to me, but I'd like to have a second on hand (either for inclusion in this issue, based on how many words I manage to get into the piece, or for inclusion into a future issue, or as a backup in case my current writer has some catastrophe happen that makes the piece fall through).
If you're interested, send me an email.

I am kinda disappointed with the PDFs. Whenever I download them half of the pages are missing.
Really? Would you mind drifting over to the Knowledge Arcana section of the Wizards boards and posting this? I think the publisher would like to know.

For KA 7, I'm looking for short adventure pieces, between 5000 and 7000 words. Right now, I'll look at about anything, but it's for D&D only and not any of the other systems (though, frankly, the other area editors would probably be keen on getting adventures for their sections if you're interested).
The format is roughly what's in the recent Dungeon issues or the recent modules (Intro, Prep, Background, Synopsis, the Adventure itself, and an NPC and monster Appendix). But those are details.
We're still looking at quarterly publication, but the staff occasionally brings up the possibility of someday increasing the yearly issues. If that happens, we'll have a need for more stuff in the hopper, so I'd be more than happy to have a handful of things available.
And, for all the writers out there, you retain full rights. If we ask to hold onto something of yours and you want to get it into another publication, just let us know--in addition to trying to make our magazine great, we're also interested in helping our writers. (And, if I really like something I see, but can't fit it in to an upcoming issue, I'll be more than happy to send it and a recommendation on to another publisher.)
At present, for KA7, I have gone from having one article "in the works" to having one finished, one "in the works" and two pending. Our deadline for submissions on this issue is July 1. I'll have to pick the one that's the best fit (or the two that are best, if I have room).
Finally, a plug for Eric (Balduran I): I don't know what he needs for KA7, but he's the minis editor, so if you've got article ideas, send him an email.

| | Any setting/level requirements? Would a third level Forgotten Realms adventure be OK? Are we allowed to use non-core material? IE, giving an NPC a feat from Complete Warrior or Complete Arcane? | | It's deja vu all over again. | |

| I've decided that the one I already made wouldn't work because it 1) uses too much non-core stuff 2) is too FR specific and 3) uses too many monsters that I have non-WotC minis for. It's simply too many "too"'s.
So I want to make a new adventure. I've been looking for a way to use my stupid dwarves anyway, so this is cool for me. One little question I have is whether you want images to go along with it. IE, portraits for important NPC's, maps, etc. I'm not much of an artist, so if you don't like what I've drawn maybe you could get someone else to draw portraits. | | It's deja vu all over again. | |

No specific requirements. We'll see what we get and put one (or possibly two) in issue 7 and save any others we like for later.quote: Would a third level Forgotten Realms adventure be OK?
Sure.quote: Are we allowed to use non-core material? IE, giving an NPC a feat from Complete Warrior or Complete Arcane?
I don't see why not. I'd have to go back through older issues to see what's been done in them, but non-core material seems fine (but keep it within WotC product lines for now).

Maps would be good. We have some staff illustrators and artists who could probably turn what you give them into something better if you're not so talented (I know I'm not). Submitting portraits or extra descriptions of NPCs is fine. Sometimes the artists decide to pull a cool individual from some piece and use it for cover art and then they create their own. I suppose having something to work from would be useful. But, portraits are by no means necessary. (And, for now, I couldn't guarantee that the work spent on them would pay off as I don't know if the editor-in-chief or publisher would ultimately want to put them in anyway.) However, that can all get worked out after we select a piece for inclusion.
Looking forward to seeing those dwarves in action.
