| How do people think the Abduction ability works? What are the steps to an abduction?
Let's say a Bar-lgura gets the jump on a medium sized and is adjacent to them when they activate. What are the game mechanics to abduct them?
Must they do a touch attack while activating their special greater teleport ability?
What if the target makes the save - does the Bar-lgura teleport without them?
Can it choose to teleport a foe without going with the target? Is this a touch attack (followed by a save)? | | Champion of Meepo _*_ Myztek on the Wizards Boards. _*_ (2206 DDM on 03/06/06) Please note: The use of the indicates an attempt at humor ... often a bad attempt. | Abduction simply modifies the rules for the Bar-lgura's Greater Teleport spell-like ability. As such, anything not overridden by the text of Abduction functions just like a normal Greater Teleport. To address your specific questions:

Well, they don't *activate* in the RPG. [:)] If they're adjacent to their target on their turn, they would use their Greater Teleport as a standard action (and would probably have to make a Concentration check to avoid an AoO). They would make a touch attack against their target(s), and if the touch attack succeeded, the target would attempt a Will save. If they failed, they would be transported along with the demon; if they succeeded, they would stay where they were and the Bar-lgura would still teleport away.

Yes. The target entry for Greater Teleport (which is based on that of the basic Teleport spell) is "You and touched objects or other touched willing creatures." The Abduction ability overrides the "willing" requirement, but does not eliminate the need to touch the subject(s)

Yup. A successful save allows the target to resist being teleported themself, but has no effect on the other targets (i.e. the Bar-lgura, and possibly a second victim).

That's not an option. Again, it works just like a normal Greater Teleport, which always includes the caster as a target. No teleporting enemies into lava pits [:(] (Unless, of course, the Bar-lgura is willing to end up in the lava along with his victim).
Hope that helps. | | "Life is short. Death is shorter."-- motto of the Halfling Assassin Squad | |
