Hey all,
For those who have the Spell Compendium, could someone help me out with the spell 'Updraft'?
Do you fly up, then float down all in the same round?
Do you fly up and then float down next round? all at once? At your speed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Updraft spell have the worst spell description I've seen in a while. It's not understandable from the spell description at all. Since you "float gently" I assume you cannot float down faster than a Feather Fall which is 60 feet per round. Now, there was a 3rd level Updraft spell in Dragon Magazine issue 314, and there if you moved more than 10 feet per movement action, you had to throw Reflex to stay on the Updraft. Putting this into the new Updraft, in my group we played with a descend rate of 20 feet per round.

Duration = Instantaneous.
I'd argue that you ascend instantly (no time) then descend at a rate equal to Feather Fall (60 feet per round). If you're lower than 6th level, you'll drop back to the ground in one round.
Very poorly worded spell and the 'druid' in the artwork for it looks like a sorcerer with a psuedodragon familiar...nothing like a druid or cleric [V]

Well, at least it aint just me [:)]
Thought it would be like a crude, divine levitate, but it just seems like an insta-high jump.
Thanks for the help all!!
