Am I to take it no one did any role-playing in this new campaign?

It was interesting but I just couldn't devote 25 hours of gencon to it. I played the first faction adventure and part of the well of woe. Interesting and fun I was in the black company and our starting mission met with success but earned us the emnity of the covenant of light. We accidentally......yeah accidentally thats the ticket, killed one of the covenant members and severly wounded another. The gnoll fighter didn't want to leave any witnesses but myself and the cleric wouldn't let him and the human fighter kill the unconcious ?paladin? so we draged the body back to the healers.

Hey they had the item we needed, it was leagaly ours we had a writ of ownership and technically they started the fight.

LoL Aye the ends justify the means! ;) Glad to see someone had some fun with it.

I'm playing the 4 faction intros at DragonCon.  Plan on running the campaign some at my local gaming shop during our normal RPGA night, assuming I like what I see in the intros.

I played in 3 scenario's.

Generally:  LOVED IT.  Why haven't I done more RPGA stuff in the past?

There were some issues though:  The "requirements" of doing A before b before c etc. aren't enforced.  This actually was to my advantage, as I couldn't attend the session I was signed up for for the first Black Wheel Company adventure, and couldn't fit in another slot before starting wheel of woe.

Then, I realized I wasn't really up for a marathon 18 hour RPGA day, so I bailed on round 2 of Well of Woe, only to return for the climactic ending.

Of course, the problem in general with 3 parters is that there is no guarantee that you'll end up with the same players.  In our case we didn't.  In round 1 we had 4 black wheel, 1 covenant of light, and 1 cabal of Shadows.  In round 3, we somehow ended up with 6 Blackwheel company members.  I guess it was easy to make sure that OUR goals were met, but it didn't lend it self to a better roleplaying sessions.  I'd have loved to have stuck it to another faction...

They added Well of Woe to the Dragon Con schedule after I set my schedule, so I'm going to miss out on it.  We play a lot more Living greyhawk over here in Tampa, and the Well is scheduled the same day I've got the 3 core module premieres.  S'okay though, I'll rope one of the DMs that only play LG into running it when it becomes available for retail/home play.  They won't mind eating it, and god knows I've eaten enough LG mods to run for people around here.

Well, I played 3 of the faction intros at DragonCon (skipped Crimson Codex due to exhaustion, I was recovering from bronchitis).  The adventures themselves are extremely interesting and well-written.  The quality of the writing is superior to a lot of the Living Greyhawk modules, which is not surprising, as Xen'drik actually has payed employees working on it.

I had serious issues with the Covenant of Light module's balance.  Without giving away any spoilers, there's one fight in there where an opponent's minimum damage is enough to knock out a 1st level tank type in one hit, and a high enough attack bonus to hit that tank 50+% of the time.  Coupled with an 18-20 crit range, this monstrosity killed my group's 2 front-line tanks with a pair of lucky dice rolls, without needing to roll damage (minimum damage killed us).

The Cabal of Shadows module was probably the one I was looking forward to the most.  However, I ended up at a table of 3 rogues, a cleric, and a warlock.  3 players at the table were playing Chaotic Stupid(TM), and a lack of cooperation and tactics led to a TPK in that module.

Dunno if Kiddoc still reads these boards, but if he does, I'm happy to report that out of the 3, the Blackwheel intro was by far my favorite.  I've since run it at my FLGS as part of a Xen'drik Expeditions introduction seminar, and both my play group, and the group I ran it for had a blast.  The module is well-written (except for a couple references to monsters which seem to have been replaced by a different group of monsters some time after the initial draft), and well balanced.  I especially like the fact that the PCs actions and general strategy determine how the module unfolds.  My group at DragonCon did things the hard way, but were still successful.  The group I ran it for played it totally differently, and had a much easier time of things.

My other complaint about the campaign is the very serious issues with the online tracking database application.  Any time I try to access the character tracker, I get a VBScript runtime error.  This has been occuring since DragonCon, over a week ago.  Since the online system is the only way to find out what treasure and experience a character has made, the bugs in the system are going to make it very hard for people to play further adventures in this campaign.  None of the folks I've talked to have any idea how much experience their characters have, and no one wants to play any further adventures until this is worked out.  This has forced me to cancel the Xen'drik night I had scheduled this coming Friday, and replace it with Living Greyhawk.  It's a shame, because my FLGS was very excited about this campaign (they sold 2 copies of the EBCS at my seminar and were planning on restocking 4-5 copies for the first game day).
