Plane of Shadow

09/28/2006 7:16 AM

In my D&D adventure I get to go to a plane of my choice. I don't have the DMG or Planar Handbook so I would like a brief description of the 26 (?) basic planes. I would like to get an idea of a place I could go without getting killed in the first 5 min.

It's almost a suicide mission. I have a 5% chance of getting back (Have to roll a 20) or find someone to bring me back by reading the scroll. I have to bring back a body and anything else, I get to keep.

Answering this question could take a LOT of time. Describing every single plane is a lot of work. It would help to know what level you are just to get an idea for how well you can survive on any plane. it would also help to know what type of adventuring you are wanting to do.

If you expect to be fighting a bunch of creatures, then you might be bored on Elysium or Mt. Celestia. If you don't want to deal with environmental hazards, then you won't want to go to the Abyss, Baator, Gray Waste, or Pandemonium. If you want to travel in a totally weird environment, then Bytopia & Arborea won't be too "different" for you.

Your best bet is to do the research yourself. A good start would be to download the fan written campaign setting on www.planewalker.com (they are in pdf format).

If you have any questions on a specific plane, I can definately help you out. I just don't have the time to describe every plane

Elemental plane of air--at least you'll probably be able to breathe.

If you're doing that, go to the Etheral or Astral. They are also very benign and don't require much protection.
