Remember that horrible creature competition where the winner was a Succubus Paladin with a Vrock as her mount? Remember that WotC claimed that the winning monster was supposed to appear in a D&D adventure? Well it finally came out.

Yup.  I couldn't agree with you more.  But I can't get enough of wierd mounted characters.  I loved the sorcerer on the black dragon and Mamouth Hunter, and I want more like that.   I know, crazy.

I know the creature doesn't have a very good rep, but i'd still like to see it come out also. I think that it's bad rep is among other things due to the excessive exposure it got during the creature competition. That, and the intelligent Vrock is probably not a very useful mount for her, considering her flight capacity that equals that of the Vrock.

However, the image is still interesting to me, enough to justify designing a modified Vrock for that purpose. For example, one that would be perhaps less intelligent, but stronger (and faster) than its brethren. And i would then see to it that the Vrock spores would not harm the Succubus when they are released.

So, in combat, the two creatures could act in synergy. Give Eludicia paladin levels (i believe that's how she was designed?) and the melee attacks and spores and screech of the Vrock would make it difficult to hold up against the two of them.

I'm all for weird mounted minis (with saddles plz) but the vrock just isn't a *mount*. That's what bugs me about this combo, more than the odd redeemed demon angle.

True, and I've had that same issue with other combos I've seen in the past (when Windrider was a Pclass), like goblin archers riding ogres in full plate. I still like this. It's like riding a demonic ostrige.

No, actually its bad rep is because it's a STOOOOPID idea.
The excessive exposure didn't help certainly.

On a scale of one to awesome...this is awesome. Why? Because despite the complete inanity of the winner, WotC followed through with what they said they'd do.

For the record, though, I'd really rather NOT see the mini. Rather see a howdah of gnomes or a gnome mounting a dwarf first.

There have been 2 creature competions since.

The second competition had an Etherial Filcher Monk as the winner (Im not kidding).

The 3rd one is almost over...All the competitors were dragons with different templates and character classes attached.

I'm anxiously awaiting the Ninja Pirate mounted on a T-Rex.  Â

You know, I keep thinking that after the new design team gets done with D&D 4e, D&D won't stand for Dungeons and Dragons anymore, because well, that's just not fun. It's old and stuffy. - Originally Posted by BabWryter on Kenzerco.com

If it was a warforged ninja pirate on a zombie T-Rex then we'd have all four awesome flavors: ninja, pirate, robot, zombie. Only a monkey companion would make it better.

You sir, are a visionary. Â

Since T-Rex's can be Gargantuan, I say we make it an Icon.

I don't care for the vrock mount, but I'd love another succubus.
I suspect it would be armed with a big sword though, which would partly ruin it...

Not particularly

This disturbing mental image brought to you by....Zenthrus

And I'd still rather see that mini than a succubus paladin riding a vrock.

The adventure should devote a great deal of time explaining whyfore there is a "redeemed" succubus palading riding a "redeemed" vrock.

The real question, though, is she riding bareback or saddled?

If there was Ptolus, you would not have to go far for an explanation since there is an actual organization that is based around redeeming monsters that are typically evil, actually called the Redeemers Guild, and they pay PCs who bring in creatures. A great motivation for PCs not to kill everything they meet.

But at least when your mount dies, as they always do, you have smething to much on.  Dinosaur is just too stringy and gamey. Yuck
