Subject: need help with psionic character creation

creating a spsionic character for a lostworld (dinos)/undead/ golem type world. low level magic item world so i may have none on me when i start other than what charatcer can create. character will start at 7th or 8th level. choices are human,dwarf or elf. leaning towards a psion over the other 2 listed in the newest psionic book(not the broken one). world is light on psionics/magic. i like to have my character be able to mix it up in melee once i a while with the option of casting a spell. my questions are what abilities/spells would you take if you were say a psion stuck on this world. which race of the 3 if you occasionally wanted melee combat. which feats would you take and what would u specialize in for psion ability. thanks for any help you can give. i have time to create this character as out group is on holiday break.

one feat I concider an absolute must for any psionic class is psionic body. Free HP's for any psionic feat you take including the psi body feats itself. So many of the psi feats are great for any build you are pretty much garanteed to take at least a few over the course of your career so you might as well get some extra hit points with them.
