| This is apparently my question period 
Thanks to all who take time to answer my questions recently, it's appreciated.
On running: i'm reading the SRD right now, and it says:
Movement in Combat: Generally, you can move your speed in a
round and still do something (take a move action and a standard
action). If you do nothing but move (that is, if you use both of your
actions in a round to move your speed), you can move double your speed.
If you spend the entire round running, you can move quadruple your
speed. If you do something that requires a full round you can only take
a 5-foot step. (my emphasis)
The SRD states that if you do nothing but move, you can double-move. In the next sentence, if you spend the entire round running (i.e. "do nothing but move" also), you can move quadruple your speed.
What is the difference between the two? Isn't there a restriction on running that forces you to follow a straight line? (I'm away from books right now.)

| Running has to be a straight line, and running also can't be interupted by people or objects. Running also denies you your dex to AC.
Essentially, if you can charge through a path, you can run through it as well. | |
