| It says in the players handbook that you get to add any deflection bonus to a characters touch AC.
The cleric spell shield of faith says it provides the recipient with a deflection bonus... there's no question there that this adds to the characters touch ac.
My question is whether or not the regular shield spell works the same way. It doesn't specifically say that it grants a deflection bonus but logic makes me want to think that it does even without saying as much.
If the spell shield does in fact add to a characters touch AC, then does Mage armor also work this way?
I could see this question being argued both ways and really wish the spells descriptions were more specific on this note. I mean the shield of faith spell covers the deflection topic, why not include the yea or nay into the other descriptions for similar spells. | | John

| Shield spell gives a Shield bonus. Shield bonus + armor bonus + natural armor bonus don't apply to touch AC.
Likewise, Mage Armor gives an armor bonus. Both of these bonus types are explicitly listed in the spell descriptions | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. Commander (#32) in only 6 months. Where's my pie? Champion of Dwarven Thunderlashers Knight of the Large Dire Chicken Have/Want List Trade References | |

| | There is a feat in the PHB 2 that allows a character to add their shield bonus to touch AC. I think it is called Shield Ward or something like that. | | Champion of the Revenant Knight of the Elf Duskblade Complete Trades: Oni, Kidkach, Melrune, callidusx3 | |

| | Mage armor does add to AC when it comes to incorporeal tough, so it's good against ghosts and the like, but that is the only time it does add to touch AC. | | Completed trades: blackthorne, Drakkengi,Thorgrin, Ironfist Boulderbender x2, ckissee, nasamonkey, Username, Star, Ace13 x3, emontedodger x2, Drconveyor, church, Joeyb, Sir Bozak The Damned, Xeromod, the other guy x2, Qucalion of Celene, Dagaron x2, berus316, qillan_dvra, AshloreDarkShadow

| | Thanks guys that's kinda what I figured. Would have made too many touch spells nearly useless if it were the other way around. | | John
