| Well I currently own the 3 core books and I've got a little cash at hand. I was wondering what are the next best books to get now? I'm looking at spending possibly around 100 dollars.

I too will back you up as theses books are awesome. I would then recommend the monster books if you are going the way of a DM after the above 2. | | Champion of the Peryton Vindicated Champion : Pit Fiend, Devourer ATG: Fog Giant DW: Duergar Priest RPG Only!!!! The Drumming Drunkn' DM

| MOD NOTE: Moved thread to more appropriate forum.
Best books IMO are (in order of usability):
Players' Handbook II Spell Compendium Magic Item Compendium Complete Scoundrel Other books from the Complete series (Warrior, Mage, Divine, Arcane, etc.)
That list will eat up a $100 budget pretty quickly, but most of those books are used almost as often as the Players' Handbook in our group. | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. Commander (#32) in only 6 months. I'd put Spell Compendium ahead of PHB II, but this is a great set and what I'd recommend.

| As a player: Spell Compendium, Player's Handbook 2, & any Complete books.
As a DM: Spell Compendium, DM's guide 2, & any Environment books that fit your world.
Also, I have to mention getting Manual of the Planes & maybe Planar Handbook or else I'd be a terrible Planescape fan

| Spell Compendium and PHB II would be at the top of my list. Complete Warrior, Divine, Arcane and Adventurer are also good options.
If you are branching out to DM books, look at the Draconomicon, Libris Mortis, Lords of Madness and MM III and IV. Just a note on this book. Unlike any of the others mentioned, if you get this book, download the errata. There are a lot of problems in the monsters section and you are definitely going to need it. For example, all the undead have extra hit points from con.

| I would recommend that you get Player's Handbook 2 for the class options, feats and spells. Dungeonmaster's Guide for a lot of useful information, Spell Compendium for a big load of spells and Magic Item Compendium for phat loot.
The Complete Books, Races, Heroes, Magic and monster codices and enviroment series are for special needs and advanced options. The Monster Manuals are only worth thier price for DMs that need to surprise their experienced nad jaded players.
The Unearthed Arcana are for groups who like to experiment with the rules. | | Powergamers of the World, Unite! Ha 60, Dr 56, Ar 55, GL 68, Ab 59, De 58, An 60, Un 59, WD 57, WDQ 59, BW 58, UH 56, Icons 3 Completed Trades: jedijon, Rakhamon

| Top choices: Spell Compendium, Magic Item Compendium, PHB II Next choices: The 'Complete' series: Adventurer, Arcane, Warrior, Divine, Mage, Scoundrel.
I'm planning to pick up Cityscape and Dungeonscape in the next month are so.
As a DM the DMG II, Monster Manuals and the other Codex books (Draconomicon, Fiendish Codex, etc.) are all good choices. | | "I was sittin' here eatin' my muffin, drinkin' my coffee, replayin' the incident in my head, when I had what alcoholics refer to as a moment of clarity." - Jules Winnfield Sales/Trades Bad (1): Ironfist Boulderbender Trades/Sales completed (8.): Danthl, Dafrca, Garyaxe, qillan_dvra, realmaster, Vandal_Savage, cavedweller, unearthed arcana.
