| So apparently Wizards has decided not to renew Paizo's license to print
Dragon and Dungeon magazines and both will cease publication come
September.
Bummer.

| I've moved this topic to the D&D RPG forums, since the magazines are more or less an official D&D supplement.
I really hate to see this happen, but I guess I can see where they're coming from in regards to a business perspective. As much as I loved the magazines, I only found myself purchasing them intermittently, whenever I'd see a new prestige class or adventure I liked. | | Champion of the Elf Duskblade | |

Agreed. I always picked mine up at the bookstore. Now I won't be doing that.

| Such a shame to see two of my favourite magazines being discontinued. Not happy with wizards at the moment. I can't be the only one who has noticed how the discontinuation comes just as wizards are starting to get back into publishing adventures and at the same time the Paizo adventure paths have gained them the magazine a huge resurgence in popularity. There has been a bit of irritation at wizards for holding back the rights to publish an "Age of Worms" adventure path hard cover for (most probably) the same reason. It is only my opinion but me thinks wizards saw a successful competitor that they could easily get rid of and didn't hesitate to give Paizo the heave-hoe. It seems such a shame that Paizo is in essence getting in trouble for doing so well, too well. I mean the recent adventure paths have been fantastic with savage tides shaping up to be my favourite.
I don't mean to knock the WoTC adventures, they are good and I have enjoyed reading them but if I had to choose between the two it would be Paizo without a moment’s hesitation. For example Cormyr tearing of the weave was a pretty reasonable adventure but when reading it I found myself thinking that it would never have made it into Dungeon. The ideas weren’t innovative enough the encounters too same-y. Even Red Hand of Doom, my favourite of the wizards adventures so far, seem to lack the sheer creativity of Paizo. Adventures like Kings of the Rift, Serpents of Scuttlecove, Into the Wormcrawl Fissure and many other being memorable (to me) in a way that none of the WoTC adventures have been.
Still it’s far from the end. I look forward to pathfinder with baited breath. To see what the Paizo writers can do when they can create not just adventures but the entire world. Will definitely be subscribing to that though the price seems a little off putting at first. If I have to cut down on WoTC product (hopefully not my precious minis) then so be it. Oddly enough one of my first thoughts was that now we’ll probably never see so many of Dungeon + Dragon magazines monsters in mini form. Ohh well. Thos seems as good of a place as any to end this little rant thanks for reading.

| This is just another of Wizards' "Consoldiations" of their external publishers. They're getting everthing together for their "online" launch. Whenever that will be. They've been pulling their licenses from everyone.Â

| It stinks. I've had a Dungeon subscription awhile and I look forward to everything in it to enhance my game as a GM (except the lame comics). I much rather have a paperback resource that I can go back to and refer to. Not to mention the great artwork by people like Wayne Reynolds. | | | |

| Does anyone else find Guy's termination of services as net-rep and the canning of Dragon and Dungeon to be more than a little coincidental? I woul dnot be at all surprised if the DDM questions & clarifications that Guy used to handle is now folded into their new online mag.

| | He may just mean termination as in ending, not as in firing (but I'm not a mind reader so he may mean exactly that). It seems more like a coiincidence than a conspiracy here. Everyone involved may have decided that with an environment that requires him to take a break, it might be good to move him to the web content that they were already working on. | | Completed trades: blackthorne, Drakkengi,Thorgrin, Ironfist Boulderbender x2, ckissee, nasamonkey, Username, Star, Ace13 x3, emontedodger x2, Drconveyor, church, Joeyb, Sir Bozak The Damned, Xeromod, the other guy x2, Qucalion of Celene, Dagaron x2, berus316, qillan_dvra, AshloreDarkShadow

| I've been a subscriber to both Dungeon and Dragon magazine for well nearly a decade, plus I picked it up when I was a kid. So seeing two staples of my gaming life replaced by online content is kind of a slap in the face. Sure every issues wasn't great, but they were generally good. Although the only reason I generally picked up Dungeon was because some content correlated with Dragon. I am not fond of the pdf content and I rarely get much of my gaming material online. I want something I can read on break at work, sitting in the doctor's office or on the front porch swing. I definitely don't want to be bound to my computer and I won't be paying for it. | | www.thegeekgazette.com | |

| Hello all, I surely hope that you do take a look at Pathfinder, or check out our new line of GameMastery modules. Both are shaping up to be great products.
I also wanted to pop on here and thank everyone for the kind words about the magazines. We really do appreciate all of the support we have been getting.

I'm pretty much of the same opinion. However, I do want to see what this whole "Digital initiative" is.

| | Nope. I maybe used one adventure ever from Dragon/Dungeon (not a comment on quality at all, just fact) so to subscribe would just be a waste. | | Completed trades: blackthorne, Drakkengi,Thorgrin, Ironfist Boulderbender x2, ckissee, nasamonkey, Username, Star, Ace13 x3, emontedodger x2, Drconveyor, church, Joeyb, Sir Bozak The Damned, Xeromod, the other guy x2, Qucalion of Celene, Dagaron x2, berus316, qillan_dvra, AshloreDarkShadow
