| OK, I finally located the spell combination for "breaking" the Abjurant Champ.
At 5th-level Abjurant Champ (using the build: Wiz5/Eldritch Knight 3/Abjurant Champ 5: this build requires either an outsider character or the Militia feat to work) you could potentially gain a +13 armor bonus to AC (Greater Luminous Armor from the Book of Exalted Deeds) and a +9 shield bonus to AC (shield spell from the PHB) for a whopping total of +22 AC.
Compared to a regular (rich) fighter with +5 full plate (13 armor) and a +5 tower shield (9 shield) the Abjurant Champ is doing quite well for himself. The AbCh loses 1d3 Str when Greater Luminous Armor ends. The fighter takes a -2 penalty to attack rolls. I think the AbCh wins this encounter (particularly when at Caster Level 13+extended abjuration class feature Greater Luminous Armor lasts 26 hours and Shield lasts 26 minutes).
As an added benefit, anyone attacking the AbCh takes a -4 penalty on melee attacks due to the bright light emitted from the luminous armor. Clear winner: The Abj Champ!
Caveat: Just make sure you have a cleric around to cast Restoration every 26 hours.

| | For an AC tank, mix Abjurant Champion with Draconic Polymorph. The combinations can be obscene, so much so that a player I game with who had that decided to nerf himself so the DM could make monsters that hit him. | | Completed trades: blackthorne, Drakkengi,Thorgrin, Ironfist Boulderbender x2, ckissee, nasamonkey, Username, Star, Ace13 x3, emontedodger x2, Drconveyor, church, Joeyb, Sir Bozak The Damned, Xeromod, the other guy x2, Qucalion of Celene, Dagaron x2, berus316, qillan_dvra, AshloreDarkShadow

| I find that Bite of the Wererat plus a few other abilities (Mass Shield of Faith from the party cleric, Air Devotion, Luck of Heroes, etc.) are usually sufficient to push my 10th-level wizard's AC up to 40 without issue. Just as frightening is Greater Mighty Wallop (Races of the Dragon) which turns his warmace into a 4d6 terror
The problem with a half-dragon/half-ogre is that it's a glass cannon. Despite having a good AC and big Con boost (not to mention the +18 Str) the ogre/dragon loses 5 hit dice. That's an average of 27 hit points (not counting the minimum 15 points from the base Con boost) dropped off of a front-line fighter. So, compared to a non-ECL fighter you're down over 40 hit points (average; maximum is around 70). Likewise, although you gain +9 to attack rolls (+18 Str) you lose +7 BAB (5 HD + Ogres get cleric BAB fortheir racial HD) and lose -1 for size for a total loss of 8 (leaving a net gain of 1). To maximize the ogre/dragon's potential take Dragon Breath from Races of the Dragon (unlimited uses of your breath weapon. Must wait 1d4 rounds between blasts). Unfortunately, as big of a bang as the ogre/dragon offers, it's extremely heightened susceptibility to power word spells (all based off hit points), effects that are based on hit dice, and inability to take many hits reduces its effectiveness as a front-line fighter. | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. | | Well, being a tank often means you are not doing the damage. It also requires you drawing attacks to you, which doesn't last more than a round or two if the creature you are fighting is smart. Making sure all of this happens means you probably don't have the same damage per attack that a character focusing on this would because of all the feats and abilities you dump into it. | | Completed trades: blackthorne, Drakkengi,Thorgrin, Ironfist Boulderbender x2, ckissee, nasamonkey, Username, Star, Ace13 x3, emontedodger x2, Drconveyor, church, Joeyb, Sir Bozak The Damned, Xeromod, the other guy x2, Qucalion of Celene, Dagaron x2, berus316, qillan_dvra, AshloreDarkShadow

| | The only reason I can offer a well-researched opinion into the ogre/dragon is that our current campaign requires ECL. My first choice was a half-dragon/ogre fighter ('cause it is a cool idea). Second choice was a half-dragon/human wizard. Finally decided on an Air Genasi wizard. Compared to the Air Genasi (ECL 1) the half-dragon (ECL 3) lost too much in the way of hit points/hit dice/higher-level spells to make the cut. | | Knight Warlord a.k.a.
