| 06/22/07 -- Wizards of the Coast has extended its existing licensing agreement with Margaret Weis Productions. Under the agreement, Margaret Weis Productions will continue to publish Dragonlance roleplaying game content until the end of January 2008. Wizards continues to publish novels set in the Dragonlance world, including the Lost Chronicles series by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, and looks forward to celebrating the 25th anniversary of Dragonlance in 2009.

| Good news, but not much of an extension. Likely was only done so they could release stuff that was already scheduled. Still, it's much better than nothing | | The year: 1994. | They look forward to revoking the license for the anniversary?
I have a feeling that we'll be seeing a flurry of Dragonlance content over the next two years. Initally as Sovereign attempts to put out everything they've been working on. After the license reverts I imagine WotC will be dropping DL content like mad to cash in on the silver anniversary. | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. Commander (#32) in only 6 months. Where's my pie? And unfortunately, then they'll drop it like a hot potato when their comparatively sucky content doesn't sell as well. | | The year: 1994. | Don't be surprised if over the next year there is very little put out. Often there is a hiatus to build anticipation for a rerelease or new material, especpecially if there is something special for the 25th anniversary.
I can't believe it's ben that long. I still remember reading Dragons of an Autumn Twighlight for the first time when it came out and loving it. | | Completed trades: blackthorne, Drakkengi,Thorgrin, Ironfist Boulderbender x2, ckissee, nasamonkey, Username, Star, Ace13 x3, emontedodger x2, Drconveyor, church, Joeyb, Sir Bozak The Damned, Xeromod, the other guy x2, Qucalion of Celene, Dagaron x2, berus316, qillan_dvra, AshloreDarkShadow

| I would ecpect a lot of cool tie-ins to the movie from sovereign press, and probably a limited license after this expects.

| | Not a bad prediction. Although these are businesses and license issues can be tricky, it seems like everyone is trying to keep this friendly. | | Completed trades: blackthorne, Drakkengi,Thorgrin, Ironfist Boulderbender x2, ckissee, nasamonkey, Username, Star, Ace13 x3, emontedodger x2, Drconveyor, church, Joeyb, Sir Bozak The Damned, Xeromod, the other guy x2, Qucalion of Celene, Dagaron x2, berus316, qillan_dvra, AshloreDarkShadow

| Well, Weis and hickman probably still have novel contracts, so they may be stuck together anyways. Might as well keep it amicable, right?

| | Yeah. I wonder how much of all of this goes back to their TSR days. What would be different now if they were able to do it all over compared to when they were just starting out. | | Completed trades: blackthorne, Drakkengi,Thorgrin, Ironfist Boulderbender x2, ckissee, nasamonkey, Username, Star, Ace13 x3, emontedodger x2, Drconveyor, church, Joeyb, Sir Bozak The Damned, Xeromod, the other guy x2, Qucalion of Celene, Dagaron x2, berus316, qillan_dvra, AshloreDarkShadow

| I bet Wizards would have spread the development out a lot more.
Dragonlance has had a much slower growth because of the hold Weis and Hickman try to maintain.
I asked Ed Greenwood once what it was like to give up his creation to other hands, and he said" It's a greater thing to share it than to own it."
Look at the two most popular settings (FR and Eberron) they are maintained and grown by large groups, not small ones. | | Official Delegate, Wizards of the Coast Against The Giants Called Shot: Huge Green Dragon Icons Called Shot: Gargantuan Prismatic Dragon

| | They are still doing their own thing. I believe they are making the Serenity system, and a whole other slew of game materials. They should do just fine. | | Completed trades: blackthorne, Drakkengi,Thorgrin, Ironfist Boulderbender x2, ckissee, nasamonkey, Username, Star, Ace13 x3, emontedodger x2, Drconveyor, church, Joeyb, Sir Bozak The Damned, Xeromod, the other guy x2, Qucalion of Celene, Dagaron x2, berus316, qillan_dvra, AshloreDarkShadow
