on BG2, has anyone ever used MS access or any other program to go into a character database and change their weapon proficiencies?

The save game editor is called Shadowkeeper, I believe. It's pretty easy to find via Google.

I have put all of my prof. in using two long swords and during the game I am not running across anything higher than a +2 longsword but a lot of creatures that need a +3 or better weapon to hit. I am thinking of changing things around so I can put a few into the flail so I can use the one that I built in the de-arnese (sp?) keep.

Lack of good longswords shouldn't be a problem... If you want to be spoiled, I can give you a hint... or full how-to guide for how to get one powerful +3 longsword

Ok Baldur's Gate II SPOILER BELOW:










I'm trying to remember these right... At gate district, there's a an inn, which has a hidden door downstairs. behind it, you find a crypt. When you enter the crypt a lich awakens... but using haste you'll be able to visit his chest before he's able to do anything. Just note that the chest is locked. IIRC it contains a good sword with some special against undead, Daystar.

There's some other swords too, Equalizer needs parts, and you can buy one +3 charisma -boosting sword from copper coronet once you finish a mission at slums. I'm not quite sure is there swords, but in general if you can get 2 bonus items (my pack had a bonus disc) for the game, they add two stores to the game that have extraordinary items.

Big Picture-Baldur's Gate Trilogy-Neverending Journey (BP-BGT-NEJ) Mod is ridiculously awesome. Let's you play from the very first steps in BG's Candlekeep all the way through the Throne of Baal using the BGII engine. Also includes about a dozen well-written/scripted/voice-acted mods. It does eat up about 8GB of hard disk but it's WELL worth the time and effort.

I love Lilarcor! The quest where you get it was usually among my first stops after the Irenicus dungeon. I seem to recall it being a +3 two-handed sword as well. Minsc + Lilarcor = fun.

I would rate Planescape: Torment and Fallouts above BG I, I like the plots more and it is kind of closer to me.

I recall that Drizzt cheat in BG I...and then I recall trying to take his magic sword from him...

I know in Icewind Dale 2 you can right-click a quickbar slot and change them to other icons, but I don't recall that being the case in Baldur's Gate 2.

The only other thing I can think of is, if you are human, to start as a rogue and dual class into monk.
