| I've heard a lot of good things over the last few months about tile sets...can anyone who collects them give me a rundown of which ones are available and their (relative) use to them?
IE:
Set 1: Wilderness - not bad, but too many big rocks...etc etc
Thanks | | Shottglazz "Take my love, take my land, take me where I cannot stand; I don't care, I'm still free, you can't take the sky from me."

| | I love the WotC tiles. They look good and are thick. The Paizo ones are nice looking as well but much thinner. They won't stand up to the rigorous use the WotC ones will. Plus, the different thicknesses of the two tile types makes them awkward to use together. At least for me anyway. | | On vacation 6/29 - 7/5

| | I love the WotC tiles. I haven't DM'd yet, but I am absolutely loking forward to using them. They are sturdy, and with 4 sets out now, the selection is geting to be quite good. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a good tile set. | | Official Delegate, Wizards of the Coast Against The Giants Called Shot: Huge Green Dragon Icons Called Shot: Gargantuan Prismatic Dragon

| I'm a big fan of Dungeon Tiles.
As for what I have:
2 sets of DT1 (dungeon tiles) : The basic set, and it has a lot of the generic tiles you want. Two sets is a no-brainer.
1 set of DT2 (arcane corridors) : I saved a tiny bit of money by only buying one of these. Don't get me wrong, it has all sorts of useful tiles, and I'm probably going to eventually get two copies. I just didn't see any "must have" tiles that demanded multiples immediately.
2 Sete of DT3 (Hidden Crypts) : This set, on the other hand, practically demands a second set, and possibly even a third later on. It's the first set with diagnally cut pieces, and diagnols are used pretty heavily these days. Try doing Jrazidune from the Shackled City adventure path with tiles and you'll see what I mean.
2 Sets of DT4 (Ruins of the Wild) : This is an all-or-nothing set. Do you have a lot of action in the wilderness? If you do, then you probably want two sets. If your only outdoor action is the occasional camping ambush, then one set is probably just fine. Hell, you can probably just skip this set and buy more of the first three. There's some awfully nice looking scenery in here, though. I couldn't resist get two, even though I'll only occasionally use it.
And DT5 (Caverns of the Underdark) comes out this month, and is the first "natural cavern" set. I think I'm buying a minimum of three of that one. | | References: http://www.maxminis.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7231 | |
