| I just received a call from the store owner asking me if I wanted a Drizzt scenario pack because he was placing his weekly order.  He went on to say that the Expedition to Undermountain I ordered last week was in and he put it aside along with a Grand History of the Realms (although I didn't specifically order one, he put one aside in case I wanted one because he knows I'm running a game in the Realms)
I don't get that kind of service from the local Borders or Amazon.
To be clear: this is not a dig at Borders, Amazon, or those who use them. I realize that not all game stores are friendly or local. It is nice to be reminded now and then as to why I've been supporting this place for over 20 years, and why I will continue to do so even though I can get these products slightly cheaper if I chose to.    | | You know, I keep thinking that after the new design team gets done with D&D 4e, D&D won't stand for Dungeons and Dragons anymore, because well, that's just not fun. It's old and stuffy. - Originally Posted by BabWryter on Kenzerco.com

| I wish that I had a game store like that.
There was a good one when I lived in California but it closed down. In CT my two favorite ones both closed down. There is one about 15 minutes away but it's more of a baseball card and comic shop with a small section of RPG stuff (all WOTC). There are two more about 20 minutes away - one I don't frequent very often for various reasons and another that I do go to but I mostly buy boardgames from. I try to buy something every time I go since I play boardgames in their basement.
I spend a lot of money on RPG books, mini's, dice and boardgames. I used to spend it all at the FLGS. Now my gaming dollar is being split about evenly between FLGS's and the internet. It's getting harder to justify spending the extra money when my orders get screwed up and the people aren't very helpful or friendly.
If there was a gaming store like Nyjastul69 has that was close to me they would get every dime that I spend on games. | | Champion of Gromph Baenre

| | I have been spending more on Amazon and other internet sites lately, cuz my FLGS is well-stocked for books and dice, but only gets minis on special order, or a single case to sell as boosters upon release...and the books are around $10-$15 more at the FLGS... | | Shottglazz "Take my love, take my land, take me where I cannot stand; I don't care, I'm still free, you can't take the sky from me."

That store had been there forever. I remember going there after school back in the 80's to buy D&D stuff. I think I bought my 1E PH there. Sad day. | | Ghendar - Bringin' the snark!

| | I've stopped getting my cases from online sources now. The FLGS is pretty close in final price, but it's nice to have a place to meet your friends and play every week. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades. | |
