I have a question about how poison works. Say you have a wyvern hitting someone with their tail and this causes the target to make a fortitude save vs. primary poison damage. Let's say the target makes the primary save. Will they need to make the secondary save also, or has the primary save prevented any further poisoning?

The character in question will still have to make a second roll.  Here is the pertinent text from the SRD.

POISON

When a character takes damage from an attack with a poisoned weapon, touches an item smeared with contact poison, consumes poisoned food or drink, or is otherwise poisoned, he must make a Fortitude saving throw. If he fails, he takes the poison’s initial damage (usually ability damage). Even if he succeeds, he typically faces more damage 1 minute later, which he can also avoid with a successful Fortitude saving throw.

Thanks, nyjastul69. That's the way I handled the recent situations with poison. I wasn't sure though. And I appreciate the clarification.

Yeah, I always looked at it as initial shock, and eventual damage...
