 | | 03/12/2008 5:14 PM | Alert | Do you run published adventures, make up your own, or a little of both? Why do you use the method you use?
I prefer to run published adventures because I like reading the great ideas that the author had and put in his adventure. I also don't have the time to really think up a full adventure on my own. I do like to tweak it though and I'll add my own scenarios within the plot. I also usually spice it up even more by switching out vanilla encounters with more exotic ones when I think it seems bland.

Idaho. Yes, we have Gamers in Idaho.
 | | 03/13/2008 8:24 AM | Alert | I run published adventures for the first session or two to get a feel for the party, how they function, and what not. From there, it's semi-homebrew.
By that, I mean I read a lot of published adventures, and use it eventually. It all goes into my brain, and when I need to make a session, I use some of those blurry mental notes as outlines, ideas, and inspirations.

 | | 03/14/2008 5:20 AM | Alert | | I like to use both. When I have the time, it's homebrew all the way. However, I might take some inspiration from a published module. I've been thinking lately about going through my BECM and 1E AD&D modules and using plots and situations but with 3.5 crunch. Time is my enemy and major impediment to accomplishing this right now though. | | The details of my life are quite inconsequential... very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner and RPG designer from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute and RPGA certified DM named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark and THAC0. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons, D&D every night. In the spring we'd make meat helmets for LARP. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag, forced to walk the walk of a thousand four siders, and beaten with reeds- pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe, which was very handy for D&D. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles for LARP. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it.
