 | | 04/24/2008 12:21 AM |  Alert | My brother-in-law (corim danex) suggested I post some info on my druid's animal companion form a one-shot game we were playing in. level 12 druid, fleshraker dinosaur animal companion. (from monster manual 3). I bought it +5 padded armor, and buffed it with a few spells for the fights- ended up being pretty mean. some of the spells didn't help much but there were 3 big ones that did, level 6 druid spell bite of the wearbear (personal range but you can share those with animal companion) from spell compendium, venomfire (3 druid spell from forgotten realms serpent kingdoms book), and a shield of faith from corim's level 12 cleric, and Superior magic fang from spell compendium.
final buffed stats:
Str 36 (+16 from bite, 3 from being animal comp)
Dex 24 (2 from bite, 3 from animal comp)
Con 24 (8 from bite)
Int 2
Wis 14
Cha 12
AC 46 (10 base, 6 from padded armor(ar), 4 from shield of faith(deflection), 7 dex, 19 natural (7 from Bite, 6 from animal comp, 6 base)
10 d8 HD (4 base 6 from animal comp), +70 hp from con
venomfire adds 12d6 acid damage to his attacks that have poison so both claws and his tail attack when they hit deal 12d6 acid damage on top of their regular and poison damage. 36 str adds 13 damage to primary attacks (claws) superior magic fang adds 3 to all attacks, so +16 damage per hit from str and fang, 9 on secondary attacks bite and tail (half 13 rd down is 6, plus 3 from fang) on top of the base damage.
BAB with 10 hd is 8, plus 13 for str, +3 for fang= +24 with claws, multiattack from animal comp means secondary attacks are only -2 so +22 on bite, tail attack
corim's wife wasn't too happy when my pet took down an aspect of Tiamat (the huge version from red hand of doom) in 1 round during the part she was running, without a scratch (even has evasion for the breath weapon attack)
Anyway, i'm sure this isn't the most powerful pet out there, but it's an evil, evil combination. Esp if you're med or smaller (read leaping pounce entry on fleshraker if you want to know more, basically get a full attack(including rake attack) plus free trip plus free grapple & pin on a charge if target same size or smaller, buffed up version of pounce.
So anyhow, suggestions/ comments are welcome, even though that's a one shot adventure, it was fun.
