| So, Chris, in reference to what you are asking, you seem to be very tough, but your character does one thing very well: charging. That's fine, but as everyone here has pointed out if you are prevented from charging you are much weaker.
So, since you are fine with the damage you have, I'd suggest filling in the weaknesses you have. For instance, since you have an animated shield, shield ward may be a great feat (add shield bonus to touch AC) since a lot of the spells that can take you out are touch spells. Or if you are scared of certain situations, a skill focus feat or one of the feats that increases saves might be a interesting choice. Another useful option for you might be to take Practice Spellcaster. Having a higher caster level will increase the duration of your sells and the likelihood that they will be dispelled (although don't count on this).
Lastly, you might want to think about one of the feats like Divine Cleansing, etc that use your turn attempts to buff the party or yourself. Helping the party can help yourself as well.

| Clever boy this is so original. We use 32 popint buy and your stats are really high and you are over equiped for your level. Also you only have +50 damage- we managed to get over +200 at the character optimisation boards at the wizards site for a Paladin over 5 years ago.
I'll take on your paladin with a Barbarian/frenzied berzerker/hulknig hurler character which can easily inflict around 50d6 damage per attack with minimal min maxing. If I could be bothered I think they've got it up to around 14000 d6 damage now or you can say high to Pun Pun the 5th level Kobold Psion that deals around 1000 damage or more per round. Anything else is just munchkin- woot look at my 1st level fighter with a vorpal sword. Ultimate paladin by breaking several rules in the game and its not even that ultimate as you can only do it to evil foes. | | Trades: dj-chuckles (complete) Sales: Kestral.ca Bad Trade: Chaotic Good

I was wondering when a true min/maxer would shut this thread down. Forget that the posted paladin was over ability scored and over magic itemed valued, I have a couple of guys in my group that could make a 5th level gnome that would tear this guy up. Yeah that's right I said gnome.
My group is a mix of min/maxers and not. We play weekly and have a pretty consitent game. 2 cheese monsters out of 8 don't break the game, they just make it interesting...[}:)] | | CHAMPION OF THE REDSPAWN ARCANISS

? Zardnaar just cited a couple of the WotC board's most famous exploits. I'm willing to bet money that most people in this forum know intimate details about the Hulking Hurler and Pun-Pun. I don't think anyone would've struggled very hard to best this. I just think people lacked the interest, or malice. | | I now have a Have/Want list updated with all my rares! Stop by to take a look! | Careful guys, it's not a contest of "who can beat the Paladin" here.
Actually, scarily, the amount of damage you saw here -pales- in comparison to a mounted paladin with the right feats. Really.
If I was your DM, I really wouldn't have a problem with the character (assuming a wealth audit put you where you're supposed to be in terms of gold spent, and I would make you take the tower shield penalty to attacks) -- he hits hard on the first swing (if he hits, assuming he can charge, but after that, he's fairly typical. I think the Tower Shield is probably not the way to go, just because they're wooden and easy to destroy, but other than that, it's a perfectly fine character I'd have no trouble challenging.
My dwarf cleric, with only a Divine Power up, can pull this same 50 damage trick, and he isn't even tricked out for awesome Smiting. At 9th level and beyond, it's not that big a deal. | | Champion of the Aboleth, Prophet of Denizens. BW Called Shot: Babau, UH Called Shot: Aspect of Vecna

Stirring up some shit, having your ass handed to you over it, and then deleting your posts and acting like you are taking the high-road - especially when taking the opportunity to try to burn people on the way out - is so not cool, man. | | Champion of the Gelatinous Cube. | Agreed. It is actually somewhat pathetic.
Try this. Don't post until you can accept criticism. Because you're going to get it. And don't expect that everyone on the board will bow down over your Paladin build that has one moderately well done "Power ability." Much as I like to Min/max at the occasional D&D Gladiatorial game, I, and especially you, are no match for the collective might of this community. To claim otherwise would be both egotistical and vain. | | Official Delegate, Wizards of the Coast Icons Called Shot: Gargantuan Prismatic Dragon "Rejoice, for bad things are about to happen."
