| It's quite hard to schedule these things, as I told Rob in an email that the last weekend of September/first weekend of October was already being looked at by Twin Falls. Even if you can't make this one, plan on hitting Twin Falls. By far Twin had the best turnout in our region and was a blast.
Utah has a small event of MTG interest on the 27th of August that precludes the date being used, labor day weekend is the following, and there were likely other conflicts for the other weekends with MTG qualifiers and states not yet being known--other events Rob cannot schedule in conflict with.

| | I guess the 25 dollars makes sense for the qualifier, but I am not interested in qualifying for that event. | The qualifier really should be 30 honestly, since big events charge at least cost of boosters which retail at 27.69 after Utah taxes. If we were to run the event at say 20, we'd be operating the event at a loss considering prize payouts, cost of running the event and the boosters used. Hopefully Chattan's opinion on the matter isn't shared by the DDM community. If it is, please let us know and we won't have any more limited events (other than release or qualifier events).
I am also quite certain if the events bomb around the country, WOTC could get rid of the format altogether.

this one?

I do think it is bad to have the qualifier held on the same day as the national championships, but then I am not going, so it is not much of a big deal for me at this time. | | First peon to make it to "Knight Warlord" Completed Trades -148-

| The price is set at 25.
The opinion that 25 is too much for a sealed event, and he would not be attending because of the cost. I hope others will attend, at least twenty players (or more than the pre-release).

Uh, my opinion is that I'm getting screwed by the fact that you are running the event on the same day that I'm competing in the national championships at GenCon Indy.
I have no issues with the price tag of $25. Yes, it'll make participating in multiple events with both my son and I a bit prohibitive, but since I can't participate in the UT qualifier due to the insane scheduling, then it isn't really an issue.
I'm also regretting buying 2 cases of Angelfire. I wish I would've gotten a half case and then fortified my set by participating in sealed events and hopefully prize support for those events. As it is now, spending $25 to get more minis that I don't need is somewhat anti-climactic. Again, this isn't a statement against Game Den or anything, I'm just wishing I had been more foresightful in anticipating the Limited Season.

You must have missed my second post regarding the sealed qualifier. I said that it made sense for the qualifier. However, I also meant to say that $25 for a limited draft with less prize support than the qualifier was too much for me.
It is too much for me because I already have every Angelfire miniature I want except for one and have no need to buy more boosters. I have about 70 Angelfire miniatures on my trade list. I have a total of 35 rares for trade. I don't really need that one miniature that I want. I have plenty to use to trade for it, and if I can't get it, then I will go without.
The problem is I have way overspent lately on DDM. Actually, even if the shop ran the limited draft (not talking about the qualifier) for a very low rate, I couldn't afford it right now anyway. When I wrote that post, I believed I could afford a $20 limited draft. Since then, I bought a large collection from someone and used up my minis budget.
Basically, the only money I can spend on miniatures for a couple of months is for mailing trades. Maybe a $5 non draft event here and there. This isn't being stingy. This is me being more realistic with my finances at the moment.
I do believe that $25 is too high for a non-qualifier limited draft. Game Den held a 2 booster draft in Provo a few months ago, and the price was $15.
I do think it is very unfair for the sealed qualifier to happen during GenCon, regardless of whatever reasons the store may have for choosing that day. | | "Look to God and live." Alma 37:47 Vindicated Champ of Hippogriff (Arcadian Hippogriff) and Uncommon Horse

some, but I tied not to. I played LG and Corim played LE. I had 3 Couatls and a warmage. Corim played a Ogre Mage and 3 Chraals. The HGD also had Cleric of order, 2 aser raiders, and 1 bronze wyrmling. We had the HGD start in the center and Corim and myself at opposite ends. First turn HUG wins init, flys 12 spaces and fires on 3 chraals and ogre mage, 1 chraal makes its save, then Ogre mage rolls 20 for its save, but then fails morral, game over. Next 2 games, we won init and allowed the dragon to go last, we were able to spread out and lived longer. second game laster longer, but we did get wipped a little. last game we had it won, the 180 sonic orbs and 20 acid from warmage, along with all the cold damage that the chraals did helped. | | First peon to make it to "Knight Warlord" Completed Trades -148-

For some reason I was losing posts, I was getting overflow even with 5-10 min between posts.
I hope that we will have near 20 if not more. but judging from last saturdays event, I am now not sure. We will have players come up from Provo, and we hope to get some down from ID.
I do know that some players have commented that it was placed on this Saturday just to get the better players out of the state so some other could win [:)] | | First peon to make it to "Knight Warlord" Completed Trades -148-

While I'm sure this is true, you are going to miss 4 people because of the conflict with GenCon (pilias, Mook, my son, and myself). That's $100 right there.
BTW, I'm more upset with WotC over this scheduling issue than with Game Den. They shouldn't have allowed that as a legal date.
