Thanks! Dave. "Okay McKay"
Crud, they got you too Dave? Looks like they have a magnet for gamers there or something (That or the fact that I can own a frickin' MANSION there on my salary, whereas here I can barely afford our shoebox of a condo here). Chris Groves, Ilarue, Terin and a few others are from that area. DDM is growing nicely for them. Keep a seat warm for me if you get there first. [)] | | POST DISCLAIMER: Above post may contain humor. | | Currently there is only one store running sanctioned D&D mini tournaments, and they only have them monthly. But there has been good turnout: 11 people at the first and 10 at the second. There are a couple of other stores in the area looking at starting up tournaments, and with Kiddoc more than likely moving to the area later this summer, things should really take off. | | Quis custodiet ipsos custodes--Who will gaurd the guards? Sweet indeed! Now if we could only snag Zenako and CG (the other CG, not me) then we'd have a good chance of hitting some sort of minis-critical-mass ... triggering some sort of plastic fusion reaction. Ah the fun we could have then ... good times ... good times ...
To be honest, we've contemplated moving several times but the proximity to Duke Medical Center, housing costs, etc. have kept us local. We've got the flexibility to, on my salary, allow my wife to stay at home and not work while the kids are young ... and that's a nice bit of freedom to have. | | Triangle DDM Skirmish Group | My Email | 45-ish trades and counting | Stuff for Trade * * * Show your brother some love and click here * * *

There are a few of us here ... not many, but it is apparently growing ... if only we could steal Lucky_KSU back from out West. And I haven't seen much from UNCDevil lately ... but there are a few of us here.
When are you headed this way?
Will at Fallen Orc seems pretty ready to get stuff going, if somebody can be the DCI Organizer. They would have to buy the tournament kits from him so there would be a mild entry fee. He already has three tournament kits from previous months. I am a DCI Organizer, and I could help run tournaments starting in May. I've been able to work successfully with him on SWM, and we have a decent working relationship. I already run SWM tournaments there so we could alternate Sunday afternoons or something. | | William Triangle, NC AAM Group: http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/triaaminis/ Triangle, NC DDM Group: http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/triddmminis/ Triangle, NC SWN Group: http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/triswminis/

If you need ANY HELP, let me know. I appear to lack the abilities to organize these by my self, but I can certainly help others.
Weekly's a little too much for me personally. If I organize anything it'll be biweekly. It would be nice to share organizer responsibility also so I could actually play some. Organizer's can't play so most people don't want to do that. I can do all the interfacing with Will though since I have worked with him before, and he knows me from SWM so that would probably make it easier. | | William Triangle, NC AAM Group: http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/triaaminis/ Triangle, NC DDM Group: http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/triddmminis/ Triangle, NC SWN Group: http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/triswminis/

| Sweet! Cary, are you serious?! Nice.
I had an interview with Cisco Systems about 10 days ago and it went very well. I should be getting a call in the next day or two about flying down for a face-to-face. So, if that works out I could be working in RTP in about a month. [:0]
I am pretty stoked about having a gaming community so close. Central Illinois isn't really cutting it. [B)]

Small showing but growing! Shoot me an email if/when you come to town and I'll let you know what's going on in the area ...

I can definitely split the duties with you; I'm not into SWM but I could be trained up and maybe spell you for some of those as well.

I've got a friend who's a PhD Psychologist at NC State; I'll ask her. Does your wife want to teach in general public schools or private/specialized (Montessori, religious, etc.)?
Oddly, my wife has decided that, like crime, archaeology isn't likely to pay anytime soon and is heading back for another degree ... in education. Actually, it probably isn't that odd. I'm no sociologist but I'd bet that the vast majority of us in this specific, niche subculture have quite a bit in common. | | Triangle DDM Skirmish Group | My Email | 45-ish trades and counting | Stuff for Trade * * * Show your brother some love and click here * * *

| Alright, the thread now changes from "RTP area" to "RTP job search for Maxminis users." So, while you superstuds are at it, find Jai a programming job (I actually have ins there, I'll work on it, 2 of my mejor amigos are programmers there), and find my wife a teaching job (public or private don't matter, so long as it's 1st-4th grade, and the salary is decent in the Raleigh/Cary/Apex/Garner/Holly Springs area).
Oh, and a school psych job for me. [:D]

| Well... as mentioned, I am working on getting a job at Cisco but if something else pops up I may take it. My background is in technology and consulting sales and I am going for a job at Cisco developing channel partners. If there are other big tech companies in the Triangle with similar opportunities, I'm all ears.

| Hey everybody... It looks like my interview process with Cisco Systems is starting to pick up some steam. They have expressed an interest in flying me down for an interview, and it looks like that will happen next Friday (4/29). Wish me luck! (If all goes well, I could be living in the Triangle in June. Whoa!)
Hey Kiddoc -- How's your process going? I saw on another thread that you were looking for places to live in the Triangle??? Could it be true? | | "It's an automatic robot, based on science."

| Quick update for those of you in the Triangle area who are interested... My interview with Cisco is going to be on Friday May 6th. Wish me luck!
I don't know how things will progress from there, but I could potentially be living in the Triangle by the end of June. :) | | "It's an automatic robot, based on science."

Yay, I found the thread again! I sent you an IM Friday night after I got home before I headed out. Congrats on the interview, it'll be cool if you end up here. Send me a mail after you confirm you're coming, and we can get the Delegate stuff figured out. I'm also running a DDM Tournament at Fallen Orc Games on May 8th at 2pm so if you want a late flight.....
Best of luck on the interview!

| | It would be great to play in the tourney on the 8th, but I'd need a hotel room for two more nights and my wife would start wondering where I was... :) We'll have plenty of tournaments in the future though, I'm sure. | | "It's an automatic robot, based on science." | |

| Chris,
I don't have one, I know the AFnG one is the 3rd Saturday of each month, I'm thinking we should get a Yahoo group going so we do have one. I'll go ahead and create one called triddmminis. I'll send out an invite to all the players that I know about, if you send me a list of players I'll invite them too. I can also make you a moderator after you accept the invite.
The group is ready now. I'll send invites for everyone's e-mail that I have.

And, in the month of May we will be jumping to no less than 3 stores holding DDM tournaments (largely thanks to willhi1979) and possibly a fourth ...
