Since the thread is recovered, I'll let the other one disappear and let this worldly wise one continue.

Yep. Pei, I live there.

I won't be particularly surprised if there is no one I don't know who ends up posting here. I'm sure that there are some people out there in PEI playing that I don't kbnow but there can't be many.

This "B" guy though. there's something wrong with him. Logan knows what I'm saying. So does logan's mom.

You might be surprised. Then again, with these user names it can be hard to know for sure. I've emailed B and learned you tend to skirmish out in Kensington and I've heard comments about 'those Kensington guys' at comic hunter. I also think I played one of 'those kensington guys' in the semis of the GOL release tourney - I had to cede the game mid-way. I'm actually interested in different tourney settings so I'd like to here more. I'd also be curious about a skirmish campaign (and off topic RPG openings as well - both player and DM).

"Those Kensington guys" eh?

Not surprised. Mind you. I'm from Charlottetown.

I hope I wasn't misinterpretted on my previous post (curse the lack of tone of voice in these postings!). While there may (and I wouldn't want to presume to know what motivates other people) be some defensiveness that some people choose to game somewhere other than comic hunter among some of the afficionados of the store, I, quite frankly, have never been that invested in any retail enterprise (except Lt. Pooley's - my favourite pub in ottawa, but I digress). People, I like, and I'm always interested in meeting more - I hope my (it was meant to be) wry 'those kensington guys' wasn't taken as snubbish on my part.

Offence wasn't taken. I kind of find it funny that 75% of "those Kensington Guys" live in charlottetown[:D]Hmm.....in the GOL prerelease were you using an orc druid and orc spearfighters as part of your warband? If so we have met. I was using the only HGD. It was my first real match. You might not remember.....I have a freakish memory for things like that...

And no I was taking no offence. I've spent my fair share of time at the CH. Just personally, I like to pplay in places that I am not always running into my students. it's hard to be immature when you're surronded by people your supposed to model mature behaviour for.[:p]

I've got some replies to both . . .

B - I think we faced off in the first round (also my first tourney). If yours was the only HGD (were you fielding Mordy, bronze wyrmling, warmage and I can't remember what else with the HGD?) I was running Formorian, HRD, Lolth, tielfing and orcish support (including an orc druid who kept the Formorian in the running against the HGD, although it was a quiclstrike scenario and I wound up eliminating everything else). If so, we did meet, and if I recall it was a pleasant game.

Sid - Amen to that, I used to work as a college counsellor in a remote Northern town and it was always hard to get out and be an idiot for a while. Even here, having worked in mental health and now at the university I find it kind of tricky at times (hard to challenge someone about their drinking when they've seen you at a bar - regardless of what you were drinking). Can I be nosy and ask what you teach?

That's right, Sid, you're on March Break right now, aren't you. I wasn't expecting an answer until this evening. Painting (watercolours in my case) is one of those things I love but find it hard to make enough time for these days. Teaching a high school crowd I can see how CH would often seem a little close to work.

It's life for me. I run into students, past or present at any bar, store or anything else I go to. I even taught "Arcman" who posts here at MM, and you no doubt know from CH.
I just consider myself lucky to have an alternative. The kids out there know I'm a teacher, but I'm not they're teacher and that makes a lot of difference.

You may know the CH crowd better than I do. I knew Karu posts as whiteangel, but that's about it - I don't really know too many actual names, let alone handles. Are you guys skirmishing in K-Town this Saturday?

This close to the end of a new set how can i not. I'm getting back from Moncton early that morning, soi I probably won't put a warband together till I get out there. But 500 pt. this saturday, should be fun witha few new minis. (Assuming I don't pull as badly from my new stuff as I did in the pre-release).

Where do you skirmish in Kensington? My knowledge is limitted to the frosty treat (for me on the way to summerside) and family treasures (for my wife, on the way back). What time to they play and how long does it tend to go?

Thanks

The stor is called Abegweit books. When you reach K-town, instead of turning left to go to Summerside you go straight through the intersection and take your first right. It's an easy to see store on the right across from the Credit Union building.

Tournament starts at 5:00, we usually run up to 5 rounds, witha limit of an hour a game. Usually we finish up around 9:30 (kinda depends on format).

Err....9:30 is a pretty conservative estimate. I know that there have been several tournaments where we didn't leave the store until midnight. Sid is right about the format making a huge difference though.....and what people choose to play. There was one incident where 3 of us decided to play red ravager in 100 pt play.
3 x red ravager = 20 minute rounds. It was sad. We were finished by 8:00.

You should definately try to make it out to K-town on saturday. The shop may seem infested with kids, but that's just because there's a yu-ghi-oh tournament that wraps up just before the minis tourney. The average age for minis is surprisingly high.

ps. It wasn't mordy. It was a cleric of lathander. I did enjoy the match though. [:D]

Getting out at midnight is pretty rare.

More often I'm out early than late...course that could just be when you're not there. You slowing us up?

With this sat being 500 and post release date, I do expect it to go to at least 10:30 though this week.

Truth. This should be an interesting tournament. Karl is in Toronto, so we won't be able to see what he thinks of the set, but I'll still be interested in what others put together.

Of course. Do you know if it's Triad? Or assault? I forgot to ask. Either way I'll be playing my "evil eye" (beholders, gauth and HEXblades, seemed like a good name)

Well I had a look at your Have/Want list and really liked the set up so I figured what the hey. And I couldn't have everyone out there thinking that your opinion is the only one coming from PEI. Besides its seems fast and easy to get an answer to a question on here.

So according to your other post it seems that you did well tonight. Doulble beholders.....Almost glad I wasn't there!

Sounds like it was a fun night. How was the LSD? Army that is, how did you do? From Siddart other post on the mini board, it sounds like someone played Stormcrow, or something simmilar, who was it?

Lsd's did alright. The warforged titan was pretty effective vs the beholders as well. He's immune to the most common damage ( inflict wounds) and his saves are really good with the cleric of order there to boost him. I only lost 1 match, but I honestly have to say that it was the only one I played vs a really good opponent. I played cory, notserious (only loss), don, and andrew. Daniel played storm crow. I didn't face it, but I wasn't overly worried about it anyway. I can't wait until next week to see what the DK pieces do in 200 pt. It will be COMPLETELY different.

Tell me about it! I might have to play either my centaur hero or my gold dragon that I picked up today! Got really lucky. Still wished that I could have pulled a beholder though. Can't get everything you want.
Are you guys playing minis tomorrow(Sunday that is, I guess thats today now isn't it)? If so when and where? If its after supper I may be able to come?

I'm not sure. The details are pretty sketchy at the moment. I'm obviously working until 9 so I won't be doing ANYTHING until at least late afternoon. I know that luke was talking about playing at his place, but that excludes richard as he will die if he goes there.

Ugh, it seems the story of that night keeps coming up.

And I did face one LSD.

But was glad not to have to face two. i was thinking B that we should have a game for fun with our Warbands from today, I would like to know how it would have turned out.

Sure. I'd be up for that. It would probably give quite a bit of information about how the beholder fares in 500 pt. I'd also be interested in seeing how the beholders fare against a nightwalker and an average CE beatstick band with formorians.

Now is this the theme night, or just straight forward 200 pt constructed. I had a 'ladies of Chaotic Good' band (AKA grrrls kick A**) that originally features FB, 2 axesisters and the evermeet, but that I'd probably run with 2 FB, evermeet and sharn cutthroats this time waiting for a theme. Otherwise, it's a toss-up between some sort of smash 'n' grab band or another beholder band to force me to really practice line of sight work. All this may be moot, though, as I'm not sure I'll be able to make it - my wife is working 12 hour shifts this week-end.

No the theme day is near the end of April I think, this is a straight out 200 assault.

Don't know if I'd try my beholder two weeks in a row. Might be a good idea for me to pull out the LSD this week. Try my coutl maybe? or will I? . . .
