I heard that Saturday should be the first event similiar to SWM last year, but don't quote me on that. I had not heard about Sunday, although I'll be playing in the sealed event for DDM. | |

All who post here are welcome to play, even with only one post. Just read over some of the info in the first post of this thread. You need to bring 2 boosters and some type of prize and you can play. FYI: I'm going to start up a thread in Generial to discuss the tournament.
There are several names, or "circumstances" which probably need to be updated (i.e. Kiddoc said he was coming before he made a decision to move to North Carolina, now, he is likely not coming...
We need to get things as updated as possible.
willhi1979: If your working in the Mini's area, can you ping any contacts you have as to how late the hall will be open?! Could we do our tournament there, or do we need to find a location outside of the convention center..

According to mapquest, it's a 14 minute ride. (8.57 miles) Of course, that's not taking into account traffic and stop lights.

I do a lot of driving and find Mapquest to be woefully inaccurate.
That said, it may only be 10 miles or so, but if your in downtown, you have to assume you'll be picking your way to the highway...
In any event, you certainly won't want to walk those 10 miles at 2 in the morning!
I hope you can figure something else out!

If I find a job before Gen Con (just got news I'm outsourced in October or so, so I'm cutting back on all expenses) I'll be at Gen Con, and will make this tourney for sure. I don't think we'll be doing an elimination round, probably 3-5 rounds of swiss, and then prizes will be distributed...
I think with 45 minute rounds, 2 AM should be the longest it runs to...

Remember, when this original list was developed we were contemplating a Sunday time slot. If someone who is listed as a Yes hasn't replied lately, we should put their status in doubt (not that they aren't welcome of course).
a 20 person turnout would be trememdous though!

It is Sealed Draft, no Huge figures, but past that you can bring ANY booster you want. Looks like I will have a Deathknell and Archfiend...
Meta?! LOL, I don't think there has been a tournament that has been held that will have this combo of pieces...

| strider, please remove the ? from my name. I'm a firm commitment unless the proverbial meteor shower strikes.
I plan on bringing an archfiends booster and either deathknell or angelfire booster (depends which one I'm digging most at the time). I will probably bring a dragoneye booster as prize support if I can hold out and keep from cracking it open between now and then.

it would appear that the mini's hall will be open 24 hours per day... we should at this point plan on setting up shop near the WotC HQ in the Mini's hall. They haven't announced the floor plan yet, but I imagine we will be back in the Sagamore ballroom...

Is it likely that boosters from all the sets will be available and for sale at the show? Because I'd like to buy either two Arch Fiends or one Archfiend and one GOL and use them for this draft. I'd have to purchase both as I don't have any unopened of either at this time. For a prize I will be contributing one DeathKnell booster.
This leads me to another question. If a GOL booster is used and someone pulls King Snurre can we play him? I know the huges are out for sure. Of course at 165 pts he might not be worth playing anyway. | |

Er, that is, I'm judging all day Thursday, and the block schedule for the judges has us going until 9 pm. On the other hand, if there's a DDM tourney still going after 9 pm, it seems possible I'd have to stay longer. As long as I can get away at 9, I'm for sure ready to play in the draft tourney.
At this point, more than likely I'll bring 2 boosters of DK for the Draft, and maybe one more DK for Prizes.

Looks like they are going to have more than 32 people signed up for the 200 Pt sealed event on Thursday, that means they will need 6 rounds of swiss to cut down to a top 4 or 8 elimination round.
I suggest that we bump the start time to 9:30 for the MaxMini's event.
If we can start after the Sealed event has moved to the Elimination round, we'll likely pick up a few hard core MaxMini's players who (due to bad luck!) might not make the elimination round...

I'm not sure if they will ALL be for sale (Harbinger is awfully hard to find these days...), but they will certainly have a decent selection...

With GoL boosters, who ever provides the booster will get the Huge, but obviously can't use it. All other tournament rules apply, so Snurre doesn't meet the 70% rule... That would be the chance you'd take (no different to pulling a Monstrous Spider/Carrion Crawler, etc.)
