Uh, new logo rocks...and I hope the turnout is even better. We need some of the War Room guys to come on board.

Where's the love War Room.

I'm working hard to get an Angelfire Prerelease for G3 and we need your support to help make it happen. We had 6 players at the first tournament, 8 at the second and need more!!!

The love was in Virginia the past weekend, and still doesn't have a job! [:D] However, I'm going to try and make the next tournament. Logan was up in Minnesota... I'll try and get Robert, Logan and Chris to come up with me this weekend. It's 11:00 am, right? How long do you think the tournament will take?

Dudes... T and T Toys no longer exists at Venture Mall. I went by there on Sunday and saw the two guys who bought them out digging through the stock like it was a dragon's hoard! They are going to open a new store on Pleasant Hill and Club Drive (Publix shopping center) on the other side of 85. I think they are calling it "The Gaming Pit". They will have an additional 400 square feet and expect to open on Monday the 20th.

Monday the 20th? Can you confirm the details? I'd love to go over and meet the new owners... I had problems with T&T, as you probably know.

Great news Sean. I know several players had issues with the T&T owners, some of which I had a hard time seeing the perspective of...but nonetheless.

I know Alex's dad (kid at GQ) was thinking about buying them out. I wonder???? If so, we've got a hook up.

I'll initiate contact with them ASAP and let them know about the relationships that I'm trying to build for G3 (Gwinnett Gamers Guild) and see if we can start holding some tournaments at other locations.

I just don't get the warm fuzzies from the War Room guys. Kyle at GQ has been very supportive of our efforts for organized DDM play.

I just talked to Pete one of the new owners and found out they are actually moving on the 20th but are still open for business right now. I told him a little about the organized play I've been doing for D&D Minis at GQ and he indicated that he's very interested in helping out in any way he can.

I'm going to speak with him about a variety of subjects pertaining to the play, purchase and otherwise for D&D Minis when I go by to meet him in the next couple days.

BTW Sean, he said that one dude has been going in his store 3-4 times in the last week. You're not trying to beef up the old arsenal before the tournament this Saturday, are ya??? [)]

I will be in Duluth next week for a business trip. I'm not sure what my nights will be like yet, but is there anyone that may be interested in a game some night? I also play SWM. I'll be in town from Monday to Friday.

Let me check my schedule for next week and I'll see if a couple folks can't skirmish with ya. I never thought to take my minis on a business trip and look to hook up locally. Interesting notion. I've heard the local metagames are very different.

Yeah, I'm driving down from NC so I figured I'd bring a small band. I don't know what my schedule will be like at night though. I guess it depends on how much the others in the calss want to hang out.

The Gwinnett Gamers Guild (G3) is hosting our fourth DCI-sanctioned DDM tournament at the new Galactic Quest store in Buford, GA on Saturday, July 2nd. Registration is from 11:00 to 11:30 AM, with rounds beginning at ~11:30-11:45 AM.

We had 12 players in our tournament this past Saturday, and hope to draw reasonably well, despite the July 4th weekend.

The tournament will include three rounds of Swiss-style play. We will run 200 point constructed warbands, Triad Format.

Beginners are encouraged to participate, learn, and meet some new gamers.

Please visit, www.galacticquest.com for directions, store hours, locations, etc. Please feel free to PM or email me to discuss running DDM in the north Atlanta region.

Thanks!

71 days until DragonCon!!!

http://www.dragoncon.org/index.htm

I see from the website that they plan to have DDM skirmishes, but nothing has been scheduled officially yet. Of course, I'll have to create a G3 t-shirt for the occasion (one shirt and a speed-stick ought to last four days [)])

Four days of gaming, WAHOO!!!

You know, I had considered T-Shirts for the Gwinnett Gamers Guild, but I has obvious concerns at the lack of ability for many of the younger folks to be able to afford them.

I will talk with Kyle about how/where he had his T-Shirts made with the "gaming rules" b/c he sells them fairly cheeply at like $6 a pop. With the logo you've designed and some standard T's I bet we could get some made cheeply.

DragonCon would likely be a good place for us to recruit new players.

I'm thinking about launching a website, through Yahoo! they are only like $12 a month. What do you think?

Hey all, I just emailed the Director of Gaming at DragonCon asking what was up with D&D Minis. I asked if they are hosting an organized/sanctioned tournament, etc.

Once I know some details, I'll post it out here.

If you only want to post announcements, you could create a webpage for free. I created one for a D&D campaign with PC sheets, maps, NPC's, etc. Here's the link:

http://www.geocities.com/seancundiff/index.html

I haven't updated it in a long time, but you can get an idea of what you can do for free. It's really easy.

Thanks Sean, we're up and running. I think I might quickly evolve into actually paying a couple bucks to have the website instead of the whole Geocities thing. I whipped something together in no time. I'd really like to have a nice URL that says Gwinnett Gamers Guild...and that's all.

Some of those kids could have bought their first car with the money they (or their parents) have spent on minis!

I swung (swang? swinged? swought?) by the Gaming Pit today. It's still not open. The store formerly known as T&T Toys looks like something from a low budget, post-apocalyptic movie set.

Hey, if they need someone to run D&D minis, I'll be glad to. I'm not a sanctioned judge or anything like that, but I did it last year, and I'll be there again this year.

Slickdog and I met with Pate and Jason the new owners of (formerly T&T Toys), now The Gaming Pit. Given their superior location, we are considering moving the Gwinnett Gamers Guild sanctioned D&D Minis Tournaments to their site. After the tournament this Saturday at Galactic Quest, we'll assess the situation further.

The Gaming Pit needs to get sanctioned by WoTC before we can do anything sanctioned at their facility. They should have this done in the next couple weeks, but I feel they still have quite a few kinks to work out.

I heartily concur with the previous assessment of the Gaming Pit's suitability to meet our current and future gaming needs.

In other words, "The Gaming Pit" rocks!

I spoke at length with Pate of The Gaming Pit yesterday evening. I then sent him an email outlining what we are looking for in the way of support from a retailer. He and Jason really seem to be on board with allowing us to drive the initiative. In the email, I attached both slickdog and another players reactions to the possibility of changing venues to show him that there is strong interest in a change.

Sean, you'd be interested to note that both Christy & James showed up at the Gaming Pit on Sunday evening to discuss moving their D&D RPG play to their store. Obviously, we're not the only ones feeling pushed out by Kyle. Pate also told me that Kyle, Cynthia and the kids were in their store on Sunday afternoon, apparently right after you and I left. Casing the joint?

Anyway, we're in the driver's seat with Pate and Jason. We'll know a lot more after this Saturday's tournament.

If we decide on a change of venue, I'll likely cancel the next couple GQ tournaments and await the sanctioning of TGP by WoTC. Plus, it'll open things up for people to be able to go to Carrollton for the Prerelease of Angelfire if they want. With the price of gas, I sure don't.

Quite a bit, actually. I basically was the only one there running anything DDM related. However, it was basically me teaching everyone else how to play. I didn't run a tournament or anything like that, just built people armies and showed them how to skirmish with each other. I figure I had about 12-16 people in total. I'll be glad to do it again.

I'd be interested in gaming up at the Gaming Pit as well... GQ is a bit far for me to drive. Considering my current job situation, I'll still not be going to the prerelease... I simply can't afford it.

Is the tournament on for this Saturday?

Yes, the tournament is on for this Saturday. I'm vacillating as to whether or not I'll be charging the standard $2.00 entry fee. But, it is likely. So bring two bucks to be safe.

I received an email back from the DragonCon folks the day I sent it last week. They are presently looking to organize some DDM play, and possibly hold a tournament. The guy gave me someone else's name and email address I need to f/u with. Thanks for the reminder fellas.

See you on Saturday...

P.S.: I won't be running the CE faction for once. I've come up with something else I want to try and am very excited. Since I'm not going for intercontinental world champion lord almighty of DDM, I don't care what happen to my DCI rank.

Oh yeah, since we'll likely be holding future tournaments elsewhere, I'll probably just give out the retailer kit prizes this time instead of waiting for the 16th.

I understand about the Prerelease. Gas is so $$$ right now!

Sharn, would you put my name in for running DDM stuff at DragonCon, please? It looks like I'll have to get a staff badge this year, (for the 1st time in over a decade,) and DDM is right up my alley. And I'll be there for the tournament on Saturday... I'm thinking of playing a very unusual army, btw.

Shaunnon - I emailed the some guy named Tiny at DragonCon that we would be interested in running minis for them, or at least participating if they have something in the works. If, we do end up running the show, any formal judges, etc. will not be able to participate. When I hear back from him, I'll post the news.

Sean - The tournaments on the 16th, etc. are up in the air as far as I'm concerned. We'll know more once I speak with Pate & Jason tonight about our list of, "what we're looking for in the way of support." Plus, they have to get sanctioned.

Not participating is fine by me. That's what I did last year, and I got several people to become active players in the Atlanta area. In case you've never seen me at a con, I usually spend my time teaching others how to play games anyway. I'd rather have new players and grow the hobby than win a game anyway.

The Gwinnett Gamers Guild will be holding it's 5th DDM Tournament on Saturday, July 16th at the Galactic Quest in Buford, GA. Registration is from 11:00 - 11:30 with the action beginning shortly thereafter. The cost to enter is $2.00.

We will be playing the Triad Format since it was a huge success this past weekend. We've had 12 players at the past two tournaments, so come on out and play, learn, or challenge the regulars.

DragonCon Update:

Shaunnon, I got a couple emails back from the Director of Miniatures Gaming at DragonCon. Unfortunately, he doesn't remember making any promises to anyone about giving them a staff badge for this year, and he insisted that he's been the head of minis gaming for 4 years. Did you happen to get a business card from him, or anything?

I did find out how we can get staff badges however and I just need to clarify with him, how many "assistants" I could bring and get badges for.

Stay posted.

Cool. I told Pate we were coming. Apparently there has been some interest to see how DDM is played. He said they have been painting "the dungeon" and it's ready for roleplaying.

Anybody else?
