It's kinda a funky format this time. We're a little burnt out on typical 200 pt constructed, so we're doing a no-rares, no-duplicates, War Drums rules tournament (no move-2 when OOC, maps, limit 8 minis). You can read a little more about it in this thread:

| No. We wanted it to be DCI sanctioned, so the "no rares, no dupes" restrictions are "voluntary". But we didn't want to allow minis that are not released yet, since that breaks (instead of bends) the DCI rules. Also, not everyone has access to them.
Don't worry about getting there at 10 exactly, I don't think we've started on time even once since I've been going. But yeah, registration starts at 10. [:)] | |

| Yeah, Snig is kinda hosed because there are only two small goblinoids with cost 3 or less. So, you have to decide if he's still worth it with only two minions.
We decided to make "no duplicates" apply to minions and summons too. So, if you bring a Cultist, you can summon only one Maw, one Azer, one Hell Hound, etc. Maybe this format needs tweaking, we haven't tried it before.

I'm sure someone will want to stick around and play constructed. But, after the tournament we usually go to lunch at a place next door to Mr.Fantazy's. So it depends on how hungry everyone is, heheh. [:)]

| | Don't ask me how, but I managed to pull of 1st place. All I was hoping for was a good time meeting the best players in the game and learning a thing or two. BTW all of the SoCal players are great guys and I really appreciate Fenris help with providing me a warband and letting me know about the event. Can't wait to meet up with them all again at GenCon SoCal. Should be another great time! | |

We had an unusually low turnout unfortunately, but we still had a fun time playing a wacky format. Drakkengi beat me in round 2 and Smyrin in round 3... I don't remember who he played in round 1? But anyway, quite a strong showing indeed!

It worked out ok overall. I was really missing blockers, though. With a band like this, I'd ideally want another Large. After playing it a few times, I learned I was being too aggressive. I should've been holding back more I think.
