| I am looking at trying to accommodate the several locale gamming stores in the SLC area that want to hold sanctioned DDM events. I only have so much time to put into this and would not be able to run every event. We have 4 major locations and I was thinking about having 1 event at each location every month. Each location will get the same Saturday every month. If we have an extra (5th) Saturday that would be open to a major event, like our Utah Open.
I have talked to 1 store owner about this and he would like event held at his stores, but was not very keen on a schedule.
Here is my offered schedule.
1st Saturday - Game Den (West Valley) 2nd Saturday - Hasturs Games & Hobbies 3rd Saturday - Game Den (Provo) 4th Saturday - Black Rose, End Zone, or other location 5th Saturday - Utah "Open" (Constructed, Epic, Limited) Major locale event with trophies.
I would be able to run 2 of the events and most likely would not be able to ever make the Game Den (Provo) location. We would need someone to help with judging in the Provo location as the guy who would be running the event has not kept up on the rules of the game over the last 2 years.
With new set prereleases being at the end of the month before the next set comes out, the 4th or 5th Saturday event would be the prerelease event held at the store given the event.
Please chime in and let me know. I would like to get this schedule worked out with the store owners and get events scheduled staring in June. I am hoping that this will allow those who have difficulties in our timing and location of events to start getting back into the game. If stores do have the attendance and interest for other events outside of this schedule, please let me know so I can post your event so others can be informed on them.

| As I'm sure you could've guessed, I'm all for weekly sanctioned tournaments. [:D] I agree and think it would be easier for people to come out to an event here or there when there is more opportunity to play. I especially like the idea of holding a larger more prestigious tournament once every few months. Those seem to be the ones that people really make the effort to come out to.
The only thing I'm worried about is wether or not we will get 4 people showing to every event. I will be at most of them and can probably even help out with judging at the events that you can't make Spikegif. But is there any kind of plan we can have setup in case we don't get enough people for a tournament. Maybe some Three Dragon Ante or something like that so that people don't end up completely wasting their time coming out.
Something that I think would be a good idea and help people be able to make it out to more events is an e-mail group list. We could set it up so that everyone on the list will get an e-mail a couple days prior to an event that will include all the information on costs, time, address, tournament format and so on. Then we might even be able to have people RSVP their likelyhood of attendance and can get a better idea as to who and how many will show up.
The last thing I was thinking about is how interested is everyone in having more variety in our tournaments. Maybe we could do special formats like no rares or reverse constructed etc... I think that might increase attendance and it would just be fun to mix it up every once in a while.
Anwyay, that's just my 25 cents.

| | While we have your attention, I'd like to get everyone's opinion on another thing. I just got an e-mail from Paul Grasshoff saying that the Cali crew is on their way. He said they'd like to meet up for breakfast tommorow morning before the tournament if they get here in time. So I'm just checking to see who'd be interested in meeting up with them and having a little fun before it gets dirty. Maybe someone can even sneak behind enemey lines and obtain warband information and other usefull documents.... This is a war isn't it? [:D] Anyway, if you're interested just post on here or e-mail me and I'll let everyone know what the plan is as soon as I find out. | | | |

| Did Black Rose say we could have an event there on a Saturday?
Will this remove the Thursday tournaments at Black Rose? If not, I would prefer having 2nd & 4th Saturdays at Hasturs and keep the Thursday weekly events at Black Rose.

Good Idea, but I do not know much about group emails, they just go to my emial filter.
Derek also asked about this and looked into something, but it did not go far. It would be a good thing to get set up or get emails from some local players this Saturday (may 6) while we are togeather. | | First peon to make it to "Knight Warlord" Completed Trades -148-

That would be something fun. I am not sure if I could make it yet, but I know I would like to. I will try to call you later about it. | | First peon to make it to "Knight Warlord" Completed Trades -148-

This sounds interesting. Where would we meet? Dee's has decent breakfast food and there is one on 4700 S and Redwood Rd. Also, what time? 8:30 AM?

I have not talked to Hasturs or the Black Rose about this. I hope that we would keep the Thursday Black Rose events, but they would not have to be DCI any more and we could play some other formats on Thursday nights. I know the Black Rose wants events, but timming just has not allowed it. I also listed other locations as some other stores wanted to get some things going. I can only do so much. If we had the players and the stores has the intrest, they could run events every Saturday, but then we would have to decide on where we would want to go. I do not see us that large yet. Retail kits are what really pull me into wanting to have events, but so far only 2 locations have them and sometimes not very regularlly. Hasturs still has been unable to get them. | | First peon to make it to "Knight Warlord" Completed Trades -148-

| | Alright the plan for breakfast tommorow is to meet at the Dee's on Redwood and 4700 S. at 8 a.m. Good plan Corim! It looks like we'll be meeting up with the five from So Cal, a few from Colorado, and whoever else is able to make it. Hope to see a lot of you there. | | | |

| | My wife and I should be there at Dee's if she is successful on her special ability of waking Corim Danex up (the DC on the roll is high[:I]). | | "Look to God and live." Alma 37:47 Vindicated Champ of Hippogriff (Arcadian Hippogriff) and Uncommon Horse | |

| I am all for setting up some scheduled dates for tournaments. However, I hold no power at Endzone (I can only suggest... but the boss really likes me for what it's worth [:)])
I have old retail kits, Angelfire to be specific. If we had people coming out more often, I am convinced that I would be able to get the new kits with no problem. I will talk with my boss about it all on Monday (which coincidentally is when we are trying to start up some ddm skirmishes).
I will let my boss know about this. I don't think it will be a problem.

| | I'll likely be able to judge the Provo events after my move. I am so glad we have had Gerald. He has given so much to our gaming community. | | | |

Thanks Steve. It wouldl be a very large commitment for me to make it down there all the time. I know that Rob can run the event, but he is a little behind on the rules. Keeping track on all the events and games in your store is a very large task. It would be good to have someone who knows the rules to be present for each event.
