| Hi there. I started this thread to be an open discussion about out upcoming Maxminis/EN world game day. Ideas of all kinds are welcome, as it is still in the planning stages. What I am hoping to do here is bring together people from Maxminis and EN World for a special gameday that caters to both groups interests.
What I have so far:
Date:         November 26th, 2006 (a Sunday) Time:         10 am start, 9 pm finish. Location:   GameKnight Games and Cool Stuff                   978 St. Mary's Road                   Winnipeg, MB, Canada, R2M-3S1 Cost:         $10 ($8 for those that prepay & preregister) Activities:   D&D RPG and more. See below for up to date details.
Schedule:
10 am start time, first time block is 3 hours: Â Â Â Table 1 - D&D, of course (Mike Jackson, DM, up to 8 players, pre-gen characters) Â Â Â Table 2 - Dreamblade Demo (volunteer need, or may be cancelled) Â Â Â Table 3 - Three Dragon Ante demo and tournament, by Rob Macpherson. Â Â Â Table 4 - W.O.W. TCG demo with Chris Bachynski. Â Â Â Table 5 -
1 pm break for lunch (Hotdogs & Chips)
2 pm, second block is also 3 hours:    Table 1 - D&D, another group, another game (Ryan Suche, ie Nyaricus, DM)    Table 2 - D&D minis demo, by Mark Dobres    Table 3 - Dreamblade "Edge" tournament, Sanctioned, by Judge Scott Tackaberry.    Table 4 - Heavy Gear Demo (to be confirmed)    Table 5 - Burning Empires (Fires over Omec) demo by "artellan" (pre-gens available)
5 pm break for supper (Pizza)
6 pm third time block is 3 hours +    Table 1 - D&D, yet more of the world's best game! (DM needed here)    Table 2 - D&D miniatures Booster Draft Tournament, Sanctioned, by judge Mike Jackson    Table 3 - Conan CCG demo, by Chris Bachynski    Table 4 - Three Dragon Ante demo - nyaricus (Ryan Suche)    Table 5 -
9 pm day over...or is it...
What I need to consider are the following:
1)   Start time and End time. Mostly we have a framework now, some changes may still be made. 2)   Lunch, will be hot dogs and chip. Dinner will be pizza.  Quantities will be determined, we usually do 2 large slices and a can of pop for a dinner. 3)   Games are going to be D&D or D&D related. I have 7-8  tables, but I think 4-5 tables, or groups of tables is a comfortable amout.  To many choices might be hard.  Preregistration helps flush it out beforehand. I think a price break for preregistrations would help us get people commited and give us an idea of attendance.  Set a schedule - yes. This event at this time at this table,etc.... Now it just needs to be set.
4)   Fees will be charged to mostly reflect food expenses and a token amount to support prizes and event swag. Fees will be $10, $8 if you preregister.Â4a)   Fees for specific activities?  The D&D minis tournament is a sanctioned booster draft. Cost $32+ tax for the boosters.Â5)   Special offers? I'll see what I can get for promotional items. Maybe WOTC will send us something (nope, the dastardly dudes). Maybe I'll run a one day event sale on all my D&D merchandise. It's starting to look like something, I think. Feedback please?
Attendees so far (sign off and I'll add you to the list):
Scott T (the Beer Baron) - Coodinator Chris B (Universally Hated) - Conan CCG demo/tourney (By Crom!), W.O.W CCG demo Rob M (Idzy) - Three Dragon Ante Demo Mark D (dagopher) - D&D miniatures demo Mike J (JacksonM) - D&D minis tournament Kerry B (Kai) - player of games Paula L (no MM title that I know of) - player of games Dave M (no MM title yet) - Call of Cthulu CCG Demo?, player of games Mystery Guy (TJ333) - player of games Mike ? | NFL, we don't need no NFL
That should be an open weekend for me to run a demo of your choice Beer Baron.
Probably D&D minis would be best and no earlier than 10am, ending at 2pm.
If we want to do a sealed tourney after, that works too and should be done by 6 in time for your RPG game. | | Champion of Champions (for all races! even Gnomes ) Reference Thread Winnipeg Gryphon Cavalry Forums

| Seriously, I can run something if needed. The D&D minis tournament or Dreamblade.
Let me know what's needed.

| Hello,
While I would love to make it for this event, I have to work that weekend and will not be able to attend.
I wish everyone a great time, and hopefully we can do it again the future when I can attend.

| Yeah, I know.
I do miss getting out more often, but the contracts I am getting at the moment may lead to a nice 9-5 job where I would have every evening and weekend off. Of course, I have to prove my value first by doing all of the grunt work.
Of course, there is always the need to make more money to pay for the price increase for the next few sets as well.
Cheers

| I've just updated the topic (see top of page).
I was discussing this with Ryan from EN world yesterday. We're thinking of a 10 am start, and running the day organized with each event occuring at a set time. Just imagine a high school class schedule where alll your classes are different games.
Tentatively:
10 am start: first block 10 am - 1 pm (divided into two 1 1/2 hour blocks)
1 pm lunch
2 pm second block: 2 pm - 5 pm (divided into two 1 1/2 hour blocks)
5 pm dinner
6 pm third block: 6 pm - 9 pm (divided into two 1 1/2 hour blocks)
This gives us the chance to run games/demos/events in 1 1/2 or 3 hour periods. Some demos can be done in the first half of the block, and then the people can do something different in the second half of a block. Comments/suggestions?

| Well if Rob runs a demo in the one of the earlier blocks for DDM to introduce new players to the rules I could run a tournament later in the day, 200 Constructed most likely.
In most of the small gaming conventions I've been to 3 events is about the most they try to pack in to a day. There is the risk of trying to pack to much in and not giving it all a fair shake.

| Another option is Three Dragon Ante
I haven't played in a while and the demo support they are sending out is apparently paper punch out gold coins which is kinda cool. | | Champion of Champions (for all races! even Gnomes ) Reference Thread Winnipeg Gryphon Cavalry Forums

| Hello,
So, how are plans going for this?
If my work schedule changes I will certainly be out, but it does not look like that will be the case at present.
I am missing too many gaming opportunities this time of year.
Of well, new minis soon.

| I had planned to run the Thre Dragon ante Demo at 10am also so I can play in the tournaments in the 2nd/3rd slot, or possibly run another demo.
If I were to run another demo what should it be? | | Champion of Champions (for all races! even Gnomes ) Reference Thread Winnipeg Gryphon Cavalry Forums

| It's a tough call.
Draft is more fun which incourages new people to come back and play again. On the other hand Sealed is simpler as you don't have to pay attention to faction rules. On my freakish thrid hand Draft works better for building their collections getting them to choose minis from a couple factions would make it easier for them to build warbands in the future.

It sounds like this is shaping up to be an excellent event. Too bad I can't make it.
Can we try to schedule another one for the spring if this one works out well Beer Baron?

How do we stand? What is left that needs to be done?

| Hey everyone, this is Nyaricus aka Ryan from over on the En World boards.
We are currently shaping up a session sign-up thread here ( http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?p=3164755 ) which is slowly drawing everyone in from the other thread.
In any case, sorry for the slow response on my behalf; hopefully we can get this beast moving and finish-up sign-up details.
cheers, --N

Will - look at page 1, I just updated it. That is the schedule for the day.
I will be starting to pre-register people at the store anytime now. It will be $10 at the door on the 26th, and $8 if you sign up in advance.

| So, I'm looking to play in a few games here and run one or two myself. Dogs in the Vineyard (Roleplaying God's Watchdogs in an old west that never quite was.) or Rune (Fun Viking mayhem.) as they are both fun and simple to play. It looks like there is a table open in each slot that I could fill if there are people interested.

| Hey Beer Baron,
If I can only make it from 2-6, is there a discount on the price (considering not being there for the hot dog & chips)?
Or is it the one price only and I better convince my wife to let me return by pizza-time?
Thanks, Mike
