Welcome to the Utah DDM community thread! Here I will post all information about upcoming tournaments and other community events so that we can discuss them and anyone and everyone will feel free to join us for some fun. We’re a friendly group of people and would really love to get some new players to join us. Don’t worry if you don’t really know all the rules or don’t have enough minis to play a competitive warband. We can help with that by taking the time to teach you how to play and help you get better with time and between all our regulars there are plenty of mini’s to go around so you can play whatever you want just by letting someone know what you need to borrow. I’ll keep this thread updated every time a new event is set up.

Upcoming Big Events:

 

Oct. 27^th – Desert of Desolation Pre-release! Not sure on specifics yet but usually has an entry fee of $35 for two boosters and starts around 11 or 12. Sealed play is a lot of fun especially with a brand new set and these tournaments have a lot of prizes including a alternate repaint Warhorse for everyone who attends. This event will be held at the Valley Fair Mall Game Den.

 

Nov. 3^rd – World Wide Game Day! Join us for a fun Role-playing adventure with special handouts including the Spined Devil mini from the upcoming unreleased set with a preview of what the new RPG and Skirmish card will look like in 4^th Edition/DDM 2.0 Everything you need to play is provided so just bring yourself. There may also be some casual DDM afterwards for those who want to stay. This event should be held at Hastur’s Hobbies, the Black Rose, and Valley Fair Game Den.

 

Nov. 10^th – Local Opening/Trading Party! We have been doing this on a Saturday after each new set is released for about a year now and it is a blast. Basically everyone just brings all their booster purchases from the newly released set and we sit down, rip them all open, and then trade the day away. This has been a great way for everyone to end up getting the pieces they want without having to worry about online trading. It is a pot luck lunch so some time between the chaos we’ll take a break to enjoy some delicious food and have a nice chat. Most of us also save two boosters to use for a small Limited tournament that is always a lot of fun. Your better half will hopefully like the fact that spouses or significant others are always welcome to join the fun. This event is always held at one of our generous local player’s house and he’s a great host! You can e-mail him at corimdanex@yahoo.com to get directions and other information.

 

Nov. 17^th – Limited Qualifier! Again we don’t have all the details yet but it should also start around 11 or 12 and have a $35 entry fee. This is probably my favorite event of the year because of the fun competition and big prizes. Build a 200 pt. warband with no faction limit and try to make the top 4 for a second set of boosters with which you’ll draft a new warband. 1^st place prize is a free plane ticket to Washington D.C. in Feb. to compete in the Limited Championships at DDXP.

 

As you can see we have a lot of great events happening over the next 6 weeks and we’d love to see some new faces. Come meet the group and have a good time!

 

Regular Schedule:

 

Below is a list of our regular monthly tournament schedule, however these tournaments are only held if there is no other bigger event planned for that specific day and it would be noted above. As a standard set up, all tournaments are 200 pt. constructed but can be changed at the player’s request:

 

 

Every Thursday - We get together around 6:30 – 7:00 at the Black Rose game store and play a fairly relaxed tournament for a few hours. $5 entry fee only necessary if you want to be eligible for booster prizes.

1^st Saturday of every month – We play at 12:00 noon at the Game Den in Valley Fair Mall for a standard tournament. $5 entry fee if we have enough people and we want to pay for a booster prize.

2^nd and 4^th Saturday of every month – We get together at 12:00 noon at Cross Class Adventures for a relaxed tournament. Due to low number of players we are currently not having official tournaments at this location but can probably get a few people to come down for some casual play on a week by week basis.
