| Good game tonight Jay...nice to be able to get out and play a little here and there...
I have a new favorite Rebel figure - K-3PO (aka Robo Thrawn)
That Force Push 5 ability that Vader's Apprentice has is pretty nasty too...and there's like 5 or 6 characters that have that ability (or something like it) in the new set.
Sorry I didn't have more time to hang out tonight, guys....I'll probably be there all day next Saturday.

| Under the heading of thoughts on the new League that will be starting in January the current thinking is it will be 8-9 sessions, running about 3 sessions a month with the finals being either the last Saturday in March or the first Saturday in April.
We will once again institute a Comander draft but this time to help keep things a little fresh for those tired of playing the same commander over and over again there will be a little twist. Players will draft 2 commanders and be free to use either one in their warbands or both should they be of the same faction.
The draft will more or less work as the last one did with the order being determined at random and players being assigned commanders in order of the preferences of the sheets they submit. The draft will work from the top to the bottom of the list and then back up again until each player has been assigned 2 commanders.

| My Force unleashed case arrived from Wizards finally. I pulled a Golan Arms AIB, Tie Crawler, White Knobby Spider, Telosian Tank Droid, Junk Golem, and Uggernaut as my huges. My rares went down as Luke Skywalker Hoth Pilot Unleashed, K-3PO, Vader's Aprentice Redeemed, and Master Kota.
Not too shabby.
The very rares on the other hand were Boba Fett and Darth Vader which is pretty wicked. I already had the Fett so I have one up for trade if anyone in interested.

| Here's my idea for a league shake-up. Instead of having 2 commanders each:
If you win a match, then you have the option of "stealing" the other person's commander. The commander would become yours at the next league meeting. Your previous commander would go back to the pool, and the person who's had his commander stolen can replace his commander with any commander that is currently not being played, including the one that just beat him. If a person loses more than one game in a session, two people would have the option to steal his commander. If the first winner steals the commander, subsequent winners in that session do not have the option to steal the same commander.
This might be an administrative nightmare because commanders may be jumping around... It would also mean that players who are using multiple commanders in their warband will have to keep tabs on any commander changes to ensure that they arent using one that has been enlisted.

| It's an interesting concept but like you said a potential nightmare to keep track of. Another drawback might be what commanders are in play, some of the more rare commanders might not be in a lot of player's collections making them effectively unstealable.
Today I was thinking that perhaps as a part of players having 2 commanders available they would have the opertunity to use 2 different warbands (one for each commander) and switch them between sessions, perhaps even forcing them to alternate between bands after each round. Another option would be to have players draft three commanders each and play a different warband based around each commander every round of the tournamnet. That could be fun but needlessly complicated and perhaps less fair to those with smaller collections.

I'll play dreamblade if others will.
I'm not sure if I'll be out for league tomorrow. I'm hoping to be there, but acquiring a new vehicle may preclude my being there. In some ways it's ok though, I'd been planning on getting a new vehicle before winter struck, I just procrastinated a bit too much.

| There's still a typo in the league standings. Rob's ahead of paula with fewer points.
And it looks like we might end up getting a gargantuan dracolich, although not for quite a while.

I think that's because I coppied and pasted from an old file. The updated working copy is correct.
Corrected above as well.

That could be fun but needlessly complicated and perhaps less fair to those with smaller collections. I like the 3 commanders idea. Players get to put 3 warbands together, and can play only 1 game per night with them. That shakes things up a little. Do you use your best one early in the night, or save it for last when you face a better opponent.
I have another idea. How about 4 commanders (this is now sounding like an ad for a new type of razor), one of each faction. You still play 3 games a night, not using the same band twice, so even if one warband is crappy, you don't have to play it.
Because somebody may have a smaller collection, we could allow duplicates commanders to be drafted. If you didn't want duplicate commanders, a draft could still be done, but the first person to pick only picks 1 figure, then it drops down to the next guy and so on. When the bottom is reached, it starts over there for commander #2 and comes back up.
This could complicate things too, so maybe we do 4 drafts, one for each faction. Sigh.....
Oh, and the November retail kits showed up today!!!!!
Carnage Demons in a lighter shade of red (harken back to the Bluespawn Shovelpusher), and Epic Archmage cards (uh....didn't we have these already.....). New module, same poster and tokens. | | "GameKnight Games and Cool Stuff Winnipeg's source for RPGs and minis!" www.gameknight.ca

| I'll be there Andy. Hopefully you'll stick around later for the last session of the Ladder League.
And speaking of the Ladder League it resumes tonight for the 11th session. I hope to see you all there for some minis fun since I'll be missing the Packers vs Cowboys game for it.

| Seems to me they're getting lazy with their repaints. Oooh. this one color mini is now a different tone.. Come on Wizards, give us some cool repaints that require more than one can of spraypaint!
As for commander choices, I vote for good vs evil. Each person gets one good and one evil commander. I think if we each take 4, then it makes it harder for newcomers to pick commanders after the league has already started unless we allow duplicate commanders. I also think building 4 warbands every week will drive me nuts. I'm already rethinking, and re-arranging my one warband far too often :D

| I've pretty much decided to stick with the 2 drafted commanders system. I've worked up a draft sheet with all 143 available commanders we have at this point. I'll have the sheets available for those interested as well as a League sign up sheet.
After the 5th League session every player will have the opertunity to trade their 2 commanders in for any single undrafted commander that remains.
Players will be allowed to bring a warband for each of their commanders to every League session. They must declare which warband they will use before the pairings are announced. After a loss the player has the option of switching their warband for their other one but then must use that warband for the rest of the league session. The decision to switch commanders and warbands must be made before pairings for the next round are announced.
Players only earn the bonus 2 points for a theme warband if they play all three games with the same commander.

| | I'm also going to institue a rule in the draft that a player's second commander will be a different faction than their first. Selection will drop down to the highest ranked mini from another faction they have on their list. This rule won't be applied if their first mini happens to be a multi-faction commander. | | | |
