We chatted about this a while back ... 200-point draft, BYOB (bring your own boosters), BYOP (bring your own prizes)
Boosters can be from any set and you'll need to bring 2 of them ... and these are boosters not starters.
Prize support is whatever you want to throw into the pot ... rares, repaints, boosters, etc. Everyone needs to bring a prize as well. After the tournament ends and we have a final ranking we'll just cycle through the prize support so the first place gets first pick, etc. Community-driven with a real "trading" sense on the prizes. I'm thinking about bringing along a Chainmail Large Red Dragon or something similar. Maybe I'll paint it hot pink...
So, 200-point draft ... BYOB and BYOP ... registration will be coordinated via MaxMinis ... kinda keeps the tourney focused on the community. | |

I just realized though that All the GenCon posts got archived.
We are also shooting for a Sunday morning start time. We may also need to suggest speed play, 45 minute rounds or some such, just to make sure we get ourselves a winner this time. It would suck if people one by one have to drop out to catch a flight.

| The MaxMini's tournament is expected to be 3 rounds of swiss, with the top 4 doing 2 round of single elimination, 6 hours would be needed normally (30 minutes to draft, 1 hour per round).
We will be running it on Sunday, probably a 9:00 start time, as GenCon really starts buttoning up by 3:00.
As Chris reported, all participants must bring 2 boosters (NO starters). GoL is fine, but whom ever bring the booster will just keep the Huge that they get and set it aside.

| Last year it was just too late for me. I was dead tired before it started. This year, with it being on Sunday Morning, I think I might be able to make it.
I'm not sure what I'll bring for prize support or for boosters. I will most likely just buy two boosters in the dealer's room the day before the game. :)

| Hmmm... DO we make it sanctioned? I'd guess no, as it would be a blast to have Rob or Mike sit in on the Tourney. Kiddoc has stated that he's pretty certain he can get them to participate.
Hmmm.. Would DCI be able to support the tourney with the set up they have? It would suck for anyone to not be able to participate...

| I'd vote for assault.
Its hard enough to construct a balanced triad warband, and here we will be making bands with some pretty limited range of figures, but some strange combo's.
But I'm game for what ever. We could have our own Triad (say Assault, Cave of Pain, and Quickstrike or some such...).

| I say as far as combat , we lay our figures out and beat the hell out of each other and keep track by kill points.
Just straight up beat the life out of each other. Well our minis will be doing that.
But I am game for anything. We should also be careful on taking votes on how the tourney is ran by folks who may not show up it just may be that one vote that changes the format. But what do I know.
I guess I should do some reading on those other formats. Yes that Harbinger Starter WILL BE my prize. If kiddoc wins and takes the starter then I get his HRD trophy!

| Excellent point. We need to know from the group that is going. We could go with that good ol' version of skirmish, last man standing is the winner (or points when time is called).
A random terrain would be wild though. We each put 4 pieces into the mix upside down. Then each play pulls one at a time and places it face down. Once the figures are on the board, the terrain is then flipped over to reveal what is there. Would be interesting to play.

| Ghendar: Format refers to tournament type. Most people who don't play in the tournament scene do Standard: i.e. kill em all, winner is first to kill all the enemey units.
Last year there were 3 types of skirmish play
Standard
Quickstrike
Cave of Pain
Quickstrike is just like standard, but you declare a winner once you have elminated 70% of your opponents forces (by point value) or when you have reduced them to just 1 figure.
Cave of Pain: Standard format for determining a winner, but all melee and Ranged attacks do 5 additional damage.
A standard tournament was usually run with JUST quickstrike. Bigger tournaments were run using "triad" rules, where you cycled throught he 3 types.
This year, they added 2 new formats:
Assault
Plunder
Assault: Score 10 victory point for having any part of a figure on a tile entirely on your opponenets side of the board (5 pts in 100 point play).
Plunder: Score 10 victry points for having any part of a figure on EACH tile entrily on yoru opponents side of the board (5 pts in 100 point play).
The new Triad is:
Assault
Cave of Pain
Plunder
Kiddoc is proposing (jokingly?) some nonstandard formats...
