There are games weekly in Carrollton on the west side of town (about an hour from downtown). Other than that, there isn't much going on that I know of.

But I live in Florida so take what I say with a grain of salt. [)] However, I'm going to be in Atlanta next weekend (Thursday through Sunday) if you want to get together for a game. I'll be staying on the north end of town near the intersection of I-285 and 400. E-mail me if you're interested. lalato at yahoo dot com

Sounds good Sam, email sent.

Also, I found out that the guys at Colossal Games in Marietta are trying to get enough people together to start doing tourneys. I think the target day is Sunday around 1p or 2p starting time, but I am sure that is flexible depends on when they can get enough people together.

In your talks with Colossal Games, you should tell them to not worry about tournaments, but instead of DDM/SWM game days. It's an easier and cheaper way to get people involved in the game. If Sunday works best... just have a Sunday DDM/SWM game day. When you have a steady group of four or more people then start having tourneys.

Perhaps they can offer a straight 10% discount on DDM/SWM during the game day. This helps them sell product and gets people interested in DDM/SWM in the store during the game day.

One way you... or Colossal Games... can start a DDM/SWM game day in the area is to create a Meetup. Meetups are an easy way to advertise a game day. You can get more info at... http://wotcmini.meetup.com

I'm the organizer for my local DDM/SWM meetup. We meet every Thursday night at a local gaming store and we regularly have 4 to 6 players. For a gaming store... that's 4 to 6 potential customers coming in on a regular basis on an otherwise "dead" night.

Anyway... just some thoughts...

I've never been to Colossal Games, but if they started having DDM game days I'd try it out. BTW, I'm in Smyrna.

Unfortunately I don't play much anymore. None of the local shops give much support to DDM that I'm aware of. The group I used to play DDM with has also all moved away.

There was a local group that was active on MM. I think they were mainly roleplayers but they did collect minis. This included Thor, Peaches and a few others. However they haven't posted in a few months.

After talking with the people at Colossal, I was able to confirm that they would be willing to run DDM tourneys on Sunday. Their Saturdays are already booked solid. All we need now is enough player interest.

I just wanted to note that I had a great match vs. Leprechaun last Thursday at Colossal Games. It was really close.

Colossal Games seems like a good venue. Lots of gaming tables and the staff seems interested in the game. It's not that far from Atlanta and it wasn't too difficult to find. Oh yeah... and they do sell DDM singles, but there prices are a bit steep.

Just thought I would point out that the Qualifier for GenCon will be held at Quest Comics Shop in Carrollton. I'm going to try driving out there this afternoon to see what it's like as I might be coming to this Qualifier instead of the one in Florida due to scheduling problems. If not, I hope they have a qualifier at GenCon again this year...

It turns out that I'm not... I will likely be going to the Mesa, AZ qualifier. I can't make it to the Carrollton, GA one as I have friends (from Atlanta) coming to visit. Oh well...

I am another Atlanta (Alpharetta) player of DDM looking to play more often (last time was WinterFantasy). I have a regular D&D game every other Sunday (10th is a D&D Sunday), but otherwise a 1pm Sunday game sounds good. Or meeting to play at other times. Let me know if the Sunday games get going.

We play at Galactic Quest in Buford on Friday Nights. We have more of a "game night" format. We've been kickin' around the idea of playing a campaign game, though.

I am also a DDM player in the Atlanta area. We have a regular group that meets every Friday night at the War Room in Alpharetta. I'm going to organize sanctioned games up there soon. I'll also be bringing a large group with me to the Qualifier at Quest Comics. (Good people out there, btw. They've got a strong group of players.) We generally have 4 people who meet on Friday nights. There's also a small group that meets Monday nights at Atlanta Game Factory, across from Georgia Tech. I'm trying to increase attendance at both places, but the one at AGF is up in the air; my work schedule will probably change and I won't be able to help out there.

Generally about 6 pm. Start time really depends on traffic. End time is 11 pm, (when the store closes, basically.) Right now we've been playing 1 hour rounds of 200pt. Constructed Assault so we can practice for the Qualifier... but we're always willing to teach, kick back, and have fun. Directions are posted on their website, and their phone number hasn't changed from the old store. (They moved from Lilburn to Alpharetta, in case you didn't know.)

Oh, and Mark, we're the remnants of the group that used to meet at Batty's Best.

Hey all, I'm new to this forum but have been very active on the D&D Minis Tradehouse at WoTC, etc. I'm glad to have joined up.

I am part of a group of about 8 guys that regularly does minis on weekends at the Galactic Quest in Buford. Last weekend, I was in a 4 way battle that was a lot of fun.

We have a regular Friday night minis game that usually goes from 6:30 to whenever we feel like quiting. I pass the War Room every night now on the way home from the office and was thinking about getting my contingent to converge there next Friday. I can't promise all 8 showing up, but maybe we could float between stores every other Friday or something to get a larger following.

I would really like to see the regional qualifier in Atlanta. No offense to Carrollton, but it's a good 2 hour drive from nothern Atlanta for me and I'm not interested in that haul for the regional qualifier.

Sounds good, Sharn. I'm not sure that I'm going to be there this next Friday, (there's a gaming convention in Atlanta I may be attending,) but other than that I'll be at War Room every Friday. I need to figure out how to get sanctioned. It would be cool to have a big group meetup, maybe over a weekend. Unfortunately Buford is a bit far away for me to go on a weekly basis, but I might stop in one day.

T and T Toys in Duluth might be a good compromise, they have a lot of space. Does the new war room have as much gaming space as the old one?

While T&T does have a lot of space, they're not friendly to our group. They kicked us out because we bought Deathknell boosters from a store other than theirs. And, from what else I've heard, they kick people out all the time, so I'm not going to go there ever again.

Unfortunately, the War Room doesn't have as much space as it used to. However, they're trying their best to accomodate everyone they can.

Hey all, sorry I haven't been out here for a few days.

I have just scheduled a DCI-sanctioned, 200 point constructed tournament at Galactic Quest for Saturday, May 21st. The time is still TBD.

If you interested in coming, we'd love to have you. The entry fee will probably be $2, and I have the retailer kit for May for prizes for the top finishers. The prizes include the Bullywug Thug repaints, fireball templates, Eberron: Mark of Heros adventures, terrain tiles, etc.

If you don't have a DCI #, no worries, we'll get you signed up.

No offense to Carrollton, but I want next years qualifier in the ATL!!!

If you want to attend, you can email me at fudurich550@yahoo.com so that I can get you on the preregistration list. Just give me your first and last name, and email address.

Oh also, I agree. I always feel like the folks at T&T are looking over my shoulder...and the War Room's space is much more limited.

Galactic Quest is going to be moving to a larger facility in the next 1-2 months (Buford store), so we will have more, nice space to run some tournaments.

I don't know about y'all, but I want a ranking.

Thanks for reminding me. The tournament on the 21st will be a 200-point, constructed format. Again, DCI-sanctioned.

www.galacticquest.com is their website address, and it'll be at the Buford store.

We'll begin registering folks from 3:30-4:00 with a target start time around 4:00.

There are always lots of active games taking place, so come early and hang out if you'd like. Depending on the numbers that show, I'll try and have the owner get us some food.

Actually, this thread was started to help get some organized play going in the Atlanta region. I think there are a handful or minis players at the Quest Comics in Carrollton on a regular basis. Check the WoTC board where they show events scheduled, you'll see they have regular games.

The Gwinnett Gaming Guild will be having it's second DDM tournament on Saturday, June 4th from 10:00 to 1:00 at the Galactic Quest in Buford, GA. We had six participants in the first tournament, and like the first one, will have prizes from the retailer kit, this one for June.

Come out and game!

Sorry Squidy boy, I'm not going to be able to make Friday night minis for the second week in a row. This tragedy hasn't happened in some time. A buddy of mine asked me to join his periodic D&D RPG campaign an happens to be playing on Friday night, so I'll be there likely.

I'll be at the GQ on Saturday for a time though I'm sure if you'd like to swing by.
