August 26th is Rush Week for my fraternity. I'm Rush Chairman, so the timing is just not so good for me. It's also the week when we train incoming international graduate TAs and run all the incoming international students through orientation. Plus school starts the 23rd.
I'm all for a Utah Open, though. Granted, I don't have a great track record for making it to tournaments (Thursdays, after much ado about something are finally starting to look like they'll be open, Saturdays not so much), so take my input with a large grain of salt [:D]
Also, if a Utah Open gets put together, I'd be happy to offer a repaint (or two) as prize support to generate hype. My repaints might not be quite as highly desired as Runelord's, but they're not too shabby. I'll try and bring a few samples this Thursday to Black Rose. | |

I know I can't wait to try out some new 200 pt. warbands using the new pieces (especially since I need to be very prepared for the grinder at Gen Con) so I was wondering if anyone else would be able to get together at one of the game shops to play a 200 pt. constructed tournament. I don't know if they can't get it sanctioned with only a few days notice but I'd want to play either way. So post here if you're interested in a tournament this Saturday and which location you'd prefer. I'd prefer Hastur Hobbies or Blackrose but it doesn't really matter that much to me. | |

Any of the 3 major stores could runs a sanctioned event for you, but I would suggest Hastur or Blackrose as they know how the get the sanctioning number for such a short notice event. Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I can't make it to Blackrose this week or next week because I'm camping tommorow and will be on my honeymoon next week. But I'm looking forward to testing out some new pieces next week on Saturday. | |

| | So it looks like nothing is going on this Saturday so I've made other plans. But I was talking to Spikegif again and he was talking about doing another limited tournament next week on Saturday at Hasturs. Instead of paying another $40 for two boosters we would just bring two unopened boosters from our own individual case/booster purchases and play with them. That way all of you who didn't attend the pre-release because you were busy or didn't want to spend that much can get another chance to play. Plus, I think sealed/draft is the most fun format anyway. If you guys would be interested in doing something like that then post here or I'm sure we'll have time to talk about it at the store (just try to show up a little early). Otherwise we could just play a regular 200 pt. constructed tournament if people would rather do that. Anyway, just an idea to consider. | |

I had an event posted for this, but I have not been able to find it. I also heard that many posts were lost in the past 2 weeks so it could have been one of them.

The are deciding if they should just use Dragon Queen or allow a mix.(Wardrums and DragonQueen) I will continue to check in and give you updates. I am hoping they make it Dragon Queen only, but we shall see.
Seems like it would be difficult to do an Epic format another way. Anyway give me feedback on which way to sway them.

| I recently bought out a bunch of supplies from a gaming store going out of business.
They had a ton of boosters (mostly deathknell and WotDQ) that were opened on the shelf. They have probably been picked through, as I asked the store owner if he allowed people to cherry pick and he said he didn't care and knew that people did do it.
Would you all be interested in using them for a tournament? I'd let them go pretty cheap $i.e. about $15 for a pair of deathknell boosters or $23 for a pair of WotDQ boosters.
I have around 50 of the Deathknell boosters and I think I have 16 or so of the WotDQ boosters.
In addition, I'd be happy to host a tournament sometime on my 3D terrain if people are interested in that. They could do a "defend" the hill fort as in this picture here:

I am not sure. We had 9 at the last utah open but we had small number showing up to events previously. I hope we will get a large group out, but I do not know for sure. We have several players who say they will sho, but don't for some reason or another. Adam Hubb of Ahubb's Wholesale generously agreed to collaborate with me on providing some trophies (i.e. repaints) for the Utah Open. He sent me three minis and I've got a fourth that I could add in from my Chainmail collection.
I think I'll plan on trophies for the top 4. Not sure if they should be static or just give 1st place 1st choice, 2nd next choice, etc.
I don't know how my time will be for that day (since it's the first week of school, international orientations, and RUSH week for my frat), but since I've been rather lacking in showing up to events, I just wanted to make sure I contributed something [:D] | |

zenthrus, there was only a first place prize for the other Open. I don't think you need to add a 4th place prize. But, if you want to, go ahead.
I might stick with just the three. There is a LOT of detail on two of the minis (first time seeing one, first time repainting the other...). The third mini isn't as detailed, but it's getting quite hard to find [:D]
