| By decree of your captain the good Salty Pete this shall be the official thread for the burgeoning new D&D camapign. Arrrrrr!!!!
The swabees of good standing shall thusly be:
Chris - Human Wizard Rob - Aasimar Cleric of Corellon Larethian Nico - Hadozee Rogue Scott - Human Barbarian Garret - Shield Dwarf Fighter
You may discuss your character thoughts here.
As mentioned everyone starts with the same stats: 18, 16, 15, 13, 12, 11. Arrange as you choose, feel free to go lower for RP purposes if you like.
All characters start at 1st level. You may choose a race with a +1 level adjustment if you wish.
As for starting equipment take the packages in the PHB, some substitutions allowed for items of similar value. For instance if you want a greatsword instead of a greataxe or a heavy mace instead of a long sword go for it. In addition take the bonus equipment from your region in the Player's Guide to Faerun.
All characters should be NG or CG in alignment. Other alignments may be accepted with good reason but only with prior DM approval. While there may be some seaborn shenanigans the chaarcters will primarily be heroic in nature.
Painted Reaper Mini Bonus: All those painting up a metal Reaper Mini will receive an extra special bonus magic item. Minis can be painted at any time to recieve the item. I don't expect museum level quality, all that matters is the effort. I'll give it for a nicely repainted plastic mini as well.
Background Bonus: All those with a nice written background for their characters will recieve some bonus skill points apropriate to their background. I'll try to point you in the right direction for information as needed, just let me know. One of the skill point bonuses will be ranks in Knowledge (Local) equal to your INT modifier +1. At least half of those ranks must be alloted to your homeland and the rest can be from areas you've traveled to.
The first session will be the 12th of September. Hopefully most of the character details will be worked out by then but there will be time to do some finishing touches that night.
I would like the general character concepts to be in before the 5th of September to give everyone an idea of what the others are playing and how your characters can work together or share backstories if you like. I'll be at Game Knight on the 5th to help those in need.

| Here's a map of the basic area the majority of the campaign will encompass. The city circled in red is Marsember where the first adventure will take place.

If you like your characters can come from one of the lands surrounding the Sea of Fallen Stars, it would add a little flavor when you sail into your home port. Not necessary though, the Forgotten Realms is a huge place, you may be from anywhere that interests you.
Your characters are required to be in Marsember at the start of the camapign and have a reason as to why they are looking for work as an adventurer. The exact reason is up to you, perhaps you're a coin poor traveler looking for a job, a local boy eager to see the world, or a young lass with the sea in her blood.
In turn each of your characters will be approached by a young lad with an offer of an opertunity for wealth and adventure. Those interested are to inquire with the Captain Salty Pete who is currently located in the Blushing Mermaid tavern by the docks.
The starting date will be the 12th of Tarsakh, 1372 DR.
The adventure will begin there.

| What region is the campaign starting in? You mentioned it in the Shadowdale Thread.
Do we speak a regional dialect (as a bonus language to common)?
Also, if you have any insight to Barbarian tribes in the region, please share so I can get my background story in-sync as best as I can. | | "GameKnight Games and Cool Stuff Winnipeg's source for RPGs and minis!" www.gameknight.ca

| The campaign will begin in Marsember, Cormyr.
You can be from where ever in the Realms you want to be. There are no barbarian tribes in Cormyr.
What type of barbarian do you want to be, Mongol horseman, Polynesian headhunter, Inuit blubber chewer, Jungle savage?

What type of barbarian do you want to be, Mongol horseman, Polynesian headhunter, Inuit blubber chewer, Jungle savage? I was thinking of something like a Mohawk warrior, or northern plains/forest tribesman, following the calling of nature gods and spirits. My character has been banished from his tribe, so he can be a wanderer from anywhere, trying to learn more about the "curse" that afflicts him.
And if you know of any good reaper minis.........

| Sure, but I may be a little busy, depending on my workload for the day.
Nice figure MJ. But as a 1st level/not-yey-multiclassed character, it may look a bit too much like a sorceror and not a barbarian. | | "GameKnight Games and Cool Stuff Winnipeg's source for RPGs and minis!" www.gameknight.ca

| Yeah Norm, sadly I did cap this one at the first 5 players. Otherwise I would love to have you. Paula's group plays the same time we do and I think they're looking for new players.
I'll keep a space for you in the next camapign I run.

| I think with Norm, Jory, Tyler, and Richard as possible players, there is enough to get a 3rd D&D group started. There is plenty of space, so all that is needed is a volunteer to DM.
Tyler, you have an adventure you've been wanting to try out, care to give it a hand? Anyone else possibly? | | "GameKnight Games and Cool Stuff Winnipeg's source for RPGs and minis!" www.gameknight.ca

| I can be available Wednesday Aug 22nd, 2008. Are we starting or just fleshing things out???
Rogue might be fun for a change - never tried that. Truthfully I will do whatever the party needs at this juncture. If the above list is accurate - does Rob want to be a Cleric??? A sea salt ape is pretty cool! | | Stop monkeying around - thats my job!!!

I'm currently getting a group together with the anime community for my campaign. | Today I'm brewing a beer for my character. Yes, may character will come to the first gam with his own beer.
It's a wheat beer, made from some leftovers that needed using. In my bizarre beer naming tradition, I asked the nearest person (Paula) for a name that starts with "W" (like wheat). She said Windigo, which is some inuit demon or something.
After googling it, windigo turns out to be a native Canadian legend belonging to various tribes to describe a "human flesh eating werewolf on steroids, a mythical monster that flies on the winds of blizzards". It goes back to several tribes, including the Ojibwe.
My barbarian character is named Migwin, son of Tigrin. Migwin was a girl I met at the troat forest music festival, a friend of Meagans, whose name is Ojibwe for "Feather". So I decided to use that as a basis for my character. Who'da thunk Paula would have came up with an Ojibwe word for the title of my beer. Destiny.
So what XP/item bonus do I get for having my own beer? (lol) | | "GameKnight Games and Cool Stuff Winnipeg's source for RPGs and minis!" www.gameknight.ca

If you need/want any, just let me know and I'll try to get them on this order.
