| Hi Guys,
Thanks for looking into getting together some casual games. If required i should have enough room for skirmish at my place. After all we've played enough table top wargames to prove that. [:D] I'm coming out to Thursday because Omand and I have another "trade" confirmed so i'll bring my warband again and give it another whirl if there isn't a tournament (or maybe even if there is [)]).
Dan
PS From the newbie perspective replacing tiles with maps (a la Wardrums/Fane of the Drow) makes life a lot easier. Less to think about when you're setting up! | | Have List - http://www.maxminis.com/hw_list.asp?user=ivid5

| Ivid5,
Well, if yo uare coming out on Thursday we will likely strongarm you into skirmishing again no matter what. [:D]
RichardII,
You need earplugs I guess for the storms. [:)]
As to the tile/mat debate. I think the idea of pre-printed maps may be a good thing, provided the designs are good. It certainly will speed up set up time in some cases. Not all players are slow at tile placement, but some are, especially when first learning (and I have been know to take time as well.).

Yeah, earplugs would really help me ignore the lightning. [:p]
ivid5, ditch the vrock and bring a LRD with your hezrou. The combination of the two should make it very difficult for your opponent to collect points in a timed game, and the red's breath weapon should make up for any fodder you lose as collateral damage.

| Hello,
It was good to see so many people out skirmishing on Thursday evening. Sorry that I could not stay, but my head was pretty darn stuffed up. Looks like I will not be out next Thursday either due to more work which has just come up. How did the skirmishes go?
Maybe I will be able to hit a Saturday session to stay on top of things.
Best of luck to everyone during the days I miss.

| | It was odd. We ended up with 4 people finishing 2-1 iirc. Oddest of all was that I was 2nd going into the last round, or tied for 2nd anyway, beat the person who was first after two rounds (the only 2-0) and finished like 5th. :P | |

Well, I think a 5th place finish is better then being sick, sooo...
I don't think I'm going to be out this Thursday. Apparently it's going to be a booster draft, and I don't know that I really wanna spend 30 dollars to get minis to play with. I think I've got enough minis as is.

| I was pretty happy with the way things turned out but then again I was declared the winner. I'm not really sure how else they could have done it though other than having playoffs for the top 4 and I don't think anyone was really up for staying for another 2 hours.
Booster drafts are fun, I don't need the minis either but I enjoy playing the draft, not only that but I missed the pre-release and this is probably as close as I will get. | | Champion of Champions (for all races! even Gnomes ) Reference Thread Winnipeg Gryphon Cavalry Forums

| Hey guys,
Sounds like it was an interesting evening last Thursday.
I iwll not be out this Thursday due to work. Might make it out on Saturday, and then that is the last you will see of me for the rest of the month. I am out of town running several courses for lifeguards, so no skirmishes for me.
Maybe I will see some of you Saturday, otherwise, until September.

| Booster Draft will be a draft format. People will open the box and then it will go around the table as to pick the mini's out of the box. Not just a blind here is your box and play with what you got. This was a lot of fun last time. I am hoping that it will be the same this time. If you have any questions let me know. I will actually be there this Thrusday. I was going to be there wednesday as well, but my work schedule got changed last minute.

| We had 4 for the draft tonight, but it was still alot of fun.
By the time Norm showed and we finished drafting we only had time for 2 rounds.
First round was me vs Tyler and Scott vs Norm.
I had Trumpet Archon, Dwarf Wizard, Cleric of Dol Arah and Skeletal Archer. Tyler had Hezrou, 2 Dire Guards, 2 kobolds and some other fodder. the first dire guard was easy to take out the Archon missed 4 or 5 conceal checks against the 2nd one but a couple of 30 hp heals kept him in there. After the 2nd dire guard went the hezrou realy had no chance he kept missing and the archon hit every time.
Scott won his game against norm.
2nd Round was me vs Scott for First place.
Scott had Mina, Werebear, spiker Champ and Ulmo. and let me tell you ulmo can do some nasty damage when he is flanking. It didn't help that the archon missed both attacks on the 1st round against him. Luckily the cleric could heal him again and ulmo went down after the 3rd round of melee after passing 2 bigbys slapping hand checks and a morale save. After that I focused on the spiker and mina who went down pretty easily but the archon was down to 10 hp with no healing left so after that I ran away till I could get a little more damage on the bear and spiker then when I got them in place I routed them both.
It was a little cheap but alls fair in love, war and DDM.
Norm will have to post his warband I didn't face it so I'm not sure what he had. | | Champion of Champions (for all races! even Gnomes ) Reference Thread Winnipeg Gryphon Cavalry Forums

| Hello,
Sounds like an interesting time guys. Sorry I could not make it out.
Saturday is looking pretty good for some skirmishing for me, so I hope we get a crowd. After that, as I say, see you in September.
Darn, I just realized I miss the next 500 point skirmish. Not nice. Scott and Mark, you are going to schedule a 500 pt skirmish for September, right?
Anyways,

| Dan, James, and I had an amusing 3 way game.
Richard II:
Village Priest Couatl Stone Giant Justice Archon Hill Dwarf x2 MAA x2 Azer x2
Dan:
Warpriest of Hextor Chain Devil x2 Chraal Snig+goblins
James:
Inspiring Marshall FB Archmage (nasty guy) Pile of Xeph warriors that died in the chraal's death explosion.
It was amusing. Early on used the justice strike on the FB to hit for 30, but then James won init, and rolled two 1's with the FB. Then I killed the FB and he rolled a third one on the deathstrike.
The chain devils with the warpriest of hextor proved to be seriously inconvenient. With 8 attacks at +9/+13/+13/+13/+9/+13/+13/+13 some of them are bound to hit and eventually my stone giant went down, although not before taking down the chraal who took down half a dozen Xeph.
It came down to the archmage, my wounded couatl, and Dan's Warpriest of hextor and goblin skirmisher. Despite having a commander 5 dan couldn't win init and the warpriest ended up eating 3 EMM from the archmage and died. The archmage then used another EMM to finish the couatl and that was that.
Quite fun, and not a single orc champion to be seen.

| Hello,
Last minute call in to work, so I will not be out this afternoon after all. Sorry in advance to anyone who does make it out. I will have to try to make it up in September when I allow you to beat me? [:D]
Looks like you had 7 out on Thursday, but only four in the draft and three for free play. The crowds are getting larger.
All the best to everyone.

Hello,
I would love to be there, but will be out of town for work. I have missed every 500 pt skirmish so far for work. One of these days.
Can you guys post a report of how things go. I am interested in seeing what people are using in 500 pt bands now.

| I forgot to ask if it was 8 or 12 limit, there was a beer club meeting going on so I didn't want to bug Scott too much.
The plan is for regular map and tiles and we will use the squeeze rule.
I'm planning for a 8 fig limit thats the official rule anyway. | | Champion of Champions (for all races! even Gnomes ) Reference Thread Winnipeg Gryphon Cavalry Forums

So the squeeze rule means we still only have to leave two squares between tiles?

| We had 4 people for the 500 pt tournament. [:(]
Richard II
Drow Cleric of Lolth Drow Wizard Huge Red Dragon LRD x2 Zombie White Dragon Abyssal Maw x2
Norm
Storm Giant GFD Valenar Crow Shaman Evermeet AFS Greycloak+timberwolf Elf Pyromancer
Scott
GFD x2 Dire Bear x9 (ye gods that's a lotta HP)
Rob
Sword Archon CoDA Mounted Paladin Trumpet Archon LSD
I beat Norm in the first round and scott beat Rob. If our game had gone one more round Norm probably would've killed the HRD and won, but that's life in a timed game.
Round two I played scott and managed to bottleneck all his bears with my dragons and the spike stone cave. He got hit with various breathweapons and either made morale and got killed by the dragons or failed morale and got killed by the spike stones. Norm beat Rob iirc.
