| The GameKnight schedule has been updated on the web and printed for pickup here in the store.
I have added Star Wars Minis on July 22nd and August 19th. Both games have been submitted to DCI for sanctioning. They will each be 100 point builds. I'll mix it up a little starting in Sept with Limited sealed games, and 200 point games as well. | | "GameKnight Games and Cool Stuff Winnipeg's source for RPGs and minis!" www.gameknight.ca

I would prefer 500 pt epic for a few reasons, but I doubt I'm going to play either way. I'll be down to do some trading and maybe hang out for a bit and if there's an odd number of people maybe I'll play if it's epic.

| Are the Blackguard boosters going to be $15-ish now Beer Baron? Since they've been 85% proved (Maybe higher) to never yield a Huge rare?

I think that the blackguard boosters are pretty much 99.999999999% proven to never contain a huge rare at this point. | | Champion of Champions (for all races! even Gnomes ) Reference Thread Winnipeg Gryphon Cavalry Forums

| Well, if the Blackguard boosters are proven not to contain a rare, and the masses won't purchase them for more than $15, then I have a problem don't I. If I drop the price on these packs $5, I lose $10 a case. I'd have to mark up the other boosters $2.50 each (x4 in a case to maintain my profits. I have already given this product as favourable pricing as I can (GoL was $24.99/booster). Is this the best option? Or should I stick all the boosters behind the counter out of sight, and simply pull out what is on top when someone asks for one? What is the best option here?
Further to tonights game - DCI has said just to report my match as sealed. I am going to email them back and request a switch to epic for tonight. More details to come as I get them. | | "GameKnight Games and Cool Stuff Winnipeg's source for RPGs and minis!" www.gameknight.ca

I'm not sure what to do, I have an email into Wizards about it but nothing back as yet.
For tonights sealed I suggest that when you hand out boosters that no one gets 2 nightmare boosters. Like this:
Person 1 Tiamat/Nightmare Person 2 Dracolich/Nightmare Person 3 Tiamat/Dracolich
And maybe have every group of 3 roll off to pick the order or something or let them pick their boosters from following those combos.
This would at least minimize the chance of someone getting both huge rares and the chance of getting no huge rares.

| There aren't too many good options given this sucky situation.
Certainly we should make sure that no player gets more than one Nightmare booster in a sealed event. Perhaps as a bonus for those who do get one of those boosters you can give them an extra raffle ticket to help even things out.
As for the boosters on the shelf there really isn't a good solution. Perhaps you could open the Nightmare ones for the case hoping to pull the regular rares and uncommons people are still looking for. Not the best option though as with no huge rares it's unlikely that you'll recoup your money on those boosters.
You could put them behind the counter but no doubt someone would protest when handed the Nightmare booster. It's just asking for one big headache there.
I'm not sure discounting would work too well either. $5 off isn't a huge incentive to someone who has all the huge uncommons they need already but is still looking for huge rares. Increasing the price on the other boosters some would hurt the wallet a bit more but I think they'd still sell out before the Nightmare boxes, leaving you stocked with plenty on the shelves.
I suppose we can always spread the rumor that Stirges are only ever found in Nightmare boosters. [:p]

I am starting to feel piled on here, that's for sure. I just read 4 pages about this Nightmare nightmare and sent a big email to WOTC about it.
So what do I do for tonight?
Option 1: Do like Rob suggests, and every "pod" of 3 player dice off for first pick of paired boosters?
Option 2: Pile them all in a huge box and let the players blindly pull out their own boosters?
Option 3: Everyone gets a Nightmare box and I reduce the cost of this tourney $5. Tiamat/Dracolich boxes become tournament prizes?
Option 4: Everyone gets Tiamat/Dracolich set, and I raise the tourney price $5. Nightmare boxes become tournament prizes?
Option 5: Cancel the tournament as a sealed box, change it to constructed, and send all the Nightmare boxes back to WOTC (if, ha ha ha, if they are actually willing to fix this problem)?
Option 6: Write a song about my Nightmare nightmare, grow my hair long and run away to join a commune, forever forsaking my capitalistic ways...... | | "GameKnight Games and Cool Stuff Winnipeg's source for RPGs and minis!" www.gameknight.ca

| Option 5 could be interesting. I'll be currious to learn what Wizards has to say on the subject once they do come out with an official statement.
Ultimately I think Rob's option is the best and since he's the Wizard's deligate it's almost semi official like.
Screw it, Option 6 for everyone..... [:p]

I like mine best as everyone has an equal chance of getting the rares and no one will get 2 nightmare boxes. And there are still decent regular rares to be had in the nightmare boxes.
Note: Nothing I ever say is official, it might be or become official but mostly they don't tell us anything ahead of time so its just rumors or opinion, if its not already common knowledge.
Option 2 is 2nd best.
Option 3, do you have enough nightmare boxes?
Option 4, do you have enough Dracolich/tiamat boxes?
Option 5 well I prefer a sealed game since I find them the most fun.
Option 6 just don't foget to sell me gameknight for a dollar before you leave [:p] | | Champion of Champions (for all races! even Gnomes ) Reference Thread Winnipeg Gryphon Cavalry Forums

| Okay - Tonights Tournament, now changed at DCI, 500 points Epic, done with sealed WotDQ boosters. Cost $39.98+ taxes. I will group people into 3's and roll off to choose your pair of boosters pulled from a fresh sealed case. If our group tonight is not divisible by 3 then I will follow the above method of assigning boosters until the last case is opened. If there is 1 or 2 people for that last case, I will randomly assign the boosters, making sure no one gets 2 nightmare boxes.
Prizes will be randomly determined boosters from any open case.
Huge Freakin' Spiders will be available if needed for warband creation.
This months Retailer packs will not be available. | | "GameKnight Games and Cool Stuff Winnipeg's source for RPGs and minis!" www.gameknight.ca

| True dragons are the metalic and chromatic dragons, Gold, Silver, Copper, Bronze, Brass, Red, Blue, Green, Black, and White.
These would be the valid True Dragons:
Black Dragon (Young) Blue Wyrmling Brass Dragon Bronze Wyrmling Gold Dragon Green Dragon Large Blue Dragon Large Bronze Dragon Large Copper Dragon Large Green Dragon Large Red Dragon Large Silver Dragon Medium Silver Dragon Red Wyrmling Small Black Dragon Small Copper Dragon Small White Dragon
I would say the Dracolich would be but since it's a 200 point game he's too many points.
Of course your warband needs to only include 1 of those dragons above, the rest of the 100 point requirement can be made up of any mini with the type Dragon.

Schedule says it's 500 pts. So Bahamut, Tiamat, Sorcerer on Black Dragon, Dracolich are usable. But are they true dragons?

| Hmmmm.... it does say 500 points but last night Scott was saying 200. I think the 500 may be an error but I could be wrong.
Assuming it is 500 personally I would say Bahamut and Tiamat not true dragons, the Sorcerer on Black Dragon and Dracolich yes. The Huge Gold and Huge Red Dragons would also count.
It seems more like it should be a 200 point format with the 100 points of dragons required.
Which is it Beer Baron, 200 or 500?

| Hello all,
Yes, it was nice to go 3-0 last night. Pulls my DCI ranking up a bit out of the dustbin. I have to give all three of my opponents props, however. All three of my games were challenging, despite my good luck with pulls from boosters. My last game was decided by all of 31 points, and my game againt Mike J. could have gone either way (Bahamut vs. Bahamut is nasty).
I will try to get a tournament report up, but work is really busy.
Thanks to The Beer Baron for hosting.

Saturday's game is supposed to be 200 points, not 500, my bad, again. 100 points of type dragon creatures, of which at least one must be a true dragon. Like Mike's list above (thanx), that means chromatic or metallic only. No dracoliches.
