Chronicles of the Shadowdale Light Fellowship.

Okay, after tediously writing this all down and not having time to post it, here I am with the maxminis forum chronicles.  Commentary by Yours Truly is in blue type face.

The Cast:

Scott – Lannister Lazenby - Human male Gambler/Ladies Man (Rogue).

Chris L. – Sir Gawain Aranadan – Human male Cleric of Lathander.

Nico – Felix Flounder - Human male Paladin of Lathander (slightly deranged).

Jory – Veil Oakenheart - Gnome male Bard (son of the legendary Fiddlin’ Dingle Oakenheart).

Len – Casey Breck Flannery - Halfling male ranger (Lycanthrope hunter).

Chris B. – Nymagus - Elven male wizard.

Rob – Cutter Blackleaf - Elven male fighter/barbarian.

Associates (NPCs)

Blix – Goblin indentured servant.

Torchey – Halfling male torch bearer (lighting specialist)

Thagnor – Dwarven male Jug player (bard?�Former musician in Dingle’s Oakenheart’s Traveling Jug Band)

Plinky, Blongo, Snoot and Otto – goblins that we rescued.

Deceased

Otto - goblin follower – killed by a Black Hippogriff mercenary.

Having been attacked outside the The Olde Skull Inn by a dastardly group of drow.....

We find out that the drow ran a two pronged attack, attacking the local militia and us. Were they after Alhandra or was it just a random attack. Inside the inn, our Halfling torch-bearer Torchey and the drunken dwarf jug player Thagnor have captured a Drow of their own.  Several Drow have participated in the attacks inside.  None of them possess any clues or documents telling of their purpose here.

We get ordered by the local sergent to see Lord Mourngrym, the Lord of Shadowdale.  He asks about what we know of the Drow attack.  Nymagus the Mage fills him in about our recent adventures where we found the girl Alhandra, and how we were off to Thee Elven Court.  He offers us lodging for the night in the laceName>TwistedlaceName> laceType>TowerlaceType>, a formerly Drow tower.  He also offered us transport, possibly horses (and healing magic) when we go to leave.�Lannister laments the lack of a card game.  It also seems they want us to leave town, perhaps to stem the Drow incursion.

At this point the subs we ordered from Quizno's show up. Mmmm subs!

When morning comes they provide us a nice meal.  We want to know what the Drow captive has to say.  We seek out the Lord. Cutter & Lannister seek out the militia commander.  They have been try to interrogate him, but to no avail.  We decide to come back with the group.�Cutter seeks out Habib, the Magic Dealer, looking for a set of dastan, magical arm guards (1200 gp).  The groups runs more errands, Gawain and Felix find out that there is a large group of werewolves terrorizing the area south around Mistledale.  We point out to Casey, the Werewolf Hunter Halfling that if we finish our mission to Thee Elven Court we be back in time for the next full moon cycle.

We go before the Lord, who takes us to the stables. He gives light riding horses (loaners).  Wand of cure moderate Wounds (25 charges).  We also summon guards to escort Alhanda to Storm Silverhand's place, where she is supposed to stay for the duration of our adventure.

I don't know where the little boxes are coming from.  I think I'll try this in Word and paste it in.

We go to interrogate the lone Drow.�Nymagus threatens to kill him if he talks to him.�Gawains gets “tongues” from Veil, but the Drow spits at him.�He only says that our days are marked, and that they will return in greater numbers.�Charm Person helps out a bit, he lets us know that Zildra was his leader, and that they teleported up to the surface.�His name is Thrix and he doesn’t say much more than we already know.�But if we arrange his release, he’ll lead us to where the assault started.�He speaks under-common and Elven, and only a few words of common.�We decide to leave him here and possibly work with him in a month’s time.

So off we go (north), the party, Torchy the Halfling torchbearer, Blix the Goblin, Thagor the dwarf, Lannister’s mules T-Bone and Meatsheild II and all.�We follow a caravan road, dirt, but well traveled.�After two days the farmland becomes lightly forested.�On the third day out we hear the sound of fighting.�Casey & Lannister investigate.�There is a group of 4 ogres attacking a small group of goblins.�We debate whether to help or not.�Lannister goes back to get the group.�They decide to come help, but there is still debate as to kill the goblins too.�

As we approach, Lannister suggests moving to the edge of the forest and firing in tandem.�Casey fires at this point.�Gawain casts bless.�Nymagus moves into plain view and casts mage armour.�Cutter & Felix move to the tree line.�We ready to fire in unison.�Nymagus acts out on his own, casts sound orb, to no effect.�Veil sings us up.�Gawain crits an ogre.�Lannister shoots and misses (as usual).�Cutter hits and drops an ogre.�An ogre hits Nymagus and drops him.�The fight deteriorates and the ogres rush our adventuring party.�Felix gets a crit.  Lannister shoots again, while trying to convince Blix to go join the fight (hoping that his lessons in goblin will pay off).  Blix ends up charging one ogre right at the end of the fight.

Blix also recruits the remaining 4 goblins to join us.�They come from the same tribe, and one has a scimitar, but it’s rusty and worn (not Lannister’s).�They tell us they know who has it, Nob the goblin, and that it is fancy with gems.�Casey tries to convince them that the jeweled scimitar is cursed, and that they should return it to our group.�The goblins caves have been over-run by ogres, who were ordered there by a black skinned lady with crazy white hair.�Lannister is being driven crazy knowing his sword is within 5 days of where we are.�Alas, we have a mission, so we press on.

Lannister makes a note to come back this way and look for his sword.�Casey is game as Lannister told him previously he could have a cloak of elvenkind we won in a combat, but only as soon as he gets his sword back.

We continue down the road and find a caravan rest stop, where we camp for the night.�During Nymagus’ watch, horses are heard approaching.�The group is woken from it’s slumber.�Lannister check for his new sword (the last time I was woken during the night my sword was stolen.�Ahhhh good ole’ paranoia).

Anyways, the riders, 14 of them, have blackened chainmail armour, lances, and hippogriff crests.�Veil identifies them as the Black Hippogriffs, a mercenary band that operates in these parts.�The leader calls out for The Shadowdale Light Fellowship.�Veil shouts out “Yes”, identifying us.�The Leader identifies himself as Orthax, and they want us to surrender and come with them.�They were paid to capture us.�Cutter shoots at the leader, misses, and they all charge the group.

(Iddyuts!)

A fight ensues, of course.�Cutter chews through them with his amazing cleaves.�A mage among them casts a spell at Casey.�Our goblin allies are in the fray and doing well.�Oops, I spoke too soon.�Otto got Blotto!�Blix gets one!�Yay!�Snoot get one too.�Yah!�Oh yeah, and the party gets some too, but everyone cheers for the goblins.�Ahhh, Snoot goes down.�Blix crits, and takes another one down.�

So far Blix gets two guys, and Lannister hasn’t got any.�Maybe I should be playing a goblin toady!

Nymagus goes down.�Casey jumps on a horse and rides away, but the mercs have other ideas and jump on a horse and follow him.�Felix gets one.�Cutter gets another.�It looks like they are all dead except the two on me.�They withdraw at this point and I make my AOO.�“Cowards!�Fear me for I am mighty!” Lannister cries out as they withdraw.�Cutter charges and cuts down the one guy I’ve been piling damage on. (D’oh!)�The last guy attempts to ride away.�Felix catches up to and kills him, with help.�Alas, no prisoners.

We collect the loot, mostly weapons and armour.�There is another silver spider ring amongst the items we recover.�In the end our only casualty is Otto, as Nymagus helped stabilize Snoot.
