Jay,
Well, the store information is correct, but the contact person is someone I have never heard of in connection with Gameknight (actually, someone I have never heard of at all).

| I just checked that out, and I don't know who the contact is either. I did see Mark's name further down the list though, so I am sure that somebody's excel spread sheet just burped up.
But for those who want to know, Yes we are doing the Pre-release tourney on October 29th. This will start at 10:30 in the morning, with a break for pizza after noon sometime. More details coming!!! | | "GameKnight Games and Cool Stuff Winnipeg's source for RPGs and minis!" www.gameknight.ca

| We had 8 players out, including myself. Chris V won the final game against Tyler.
I used your crow shaman trick with the centaur hero. It worked pretty well (2 out of 3 games, the loss was close). I don't know how well it would play against some of the power bands ie orcs or berserkers. | | "GameKnight Games and Cool Stuff Winnipeg's source for RPGs and minis!" www.gameknight.ca

| Hello,
I had quite a good evening, even if I did go 1-2 again. I almost beat the eventual champion, Chris V., if only I had killed or routed his Ogre Mage before time ran out. It only had 5 hp left and was 3 spaces from the exit. He only beat me by 10 points. Had the Ogre Mage gone off the board his 2 Chraals would have disappeared as well. I would have won 144 to 10. Oh well, that's the way the die rolls at times. A couple of my attacks missed, and he made the critical saves.

Actully you would have also had to kill his Grim necromancer to get rid of the Chraals but you still would have won on points.
At least your game against him was close my game against him was brutal with my horrible attack rolls. It was over so fast we had time to play another game, which I won after changing dice, too bad it didn't count. | | Champion of Champions (for all races! even Gnomes ) Reference Thread Winnipeg Gryphon Cavalry Forums

It depends on how Chris V set up his warband. The chraal's "require commander" ability is different from the clay golem's "requires instruction". For the chraal, each chraal is tied to a specific commander and when that commander dies, all chraals tied to that specific commander go pop. Unlike the clay golem, who just needs a commander to stay alive, doesn't matter which commander it is.

Now see, that was my understanding of it as well. Really would not have mattered in any case. Killing or routing the Ogre Mage would have ensured a win.

| My mistake I thought they had changed that rule so that as long as you had a commander you could keep them.
I was sure I saw a Guyf post about it somewhere but I just checked the faq and I'm wrong. | | Champion of Champions (for all races! even Gnomes ) Reference Thread Winnipeg Gryphon Cavalry Forums

Who is going to be out this coming Thursday? We get to use the Fane of the Drow maps for skirmish play.

Also, for those who have not heard, two of the skirmishes this month will be Sanctioned Assault games for DCI points (if anyone cares).

I'll be there, although I haven't gotten around to getting my copy of the maps. Probably just be lazy and put it on my Christmas list.

| Hello,
My understanding for tomorrow was that all of the Fane maps would be legal, but I can't swear to that. I know that Scott is likely to have at least one store set available, and I was planning on bringing mine along.

| Look like we will have more than enough maps unless we have a really big turnout.
Of course, a really big turnout would be excellent.
As an aside, Idzy, any chance of a Three Dragon Ante demo once it releases?

| Richard,
You will get another common drow sooner or later. I am going to predict that War Drums will have at least one (as a starter, it has to, right?).

It's not a matter of another common drow, it's a matter of getting a common drow. We haven't had one yet, they've all been uncommon.

| Soooo......what did everyone think of playing on the new maps?
I played on 3 different ones last night, and enjoyed them. I think they aren't going to allow a player to be screwed by poor tile placement. Of course this works in reverse, you can't screw your opponent with tile placement either.
The CG Centaur band I have would not work on the maps, nor do I think any ranged bands would either (at least not up to optimal performance anyway). | | "GameKnight Games and Cool Stuff Winnipeg's source for RPGs and minis!" www.gameknight.ca

Despite going 0-3 I really liked the maps (should have been 2-1). I would suggest that we do this again in November and December with the other maps coming out.

| I don't really like the maps. I do like the fact they speed up the game, but taking out tiles really takes away from a large strategic part of the game. It's much easier to cover for your bands weaknesses with tiles then it is with maps.
But 3 games in maps really isn't a enough to make an accurate judgement imo so I'll refrain from making a judgement until after I've had a chance to play more games on them.

| I liked the maps, I tend to screw myself with tile placement as often as I setup well, so that probably affects my judgement a little but I like the speed up in play that it allows.

| There will be a 200 pt constructed assault format tournament at Galaxy Comics on Sunday November 6th. $7 entry fee, everyone will receive a repaint and tile, and there will be a booster draft of prizes, most likely 1 booster/3 participants.
Bring your newly opened underdark minis for some run.

What are the particulars for the Pre-release at Gameknight. If my OT lets up i may actually be able to make it. On the bright side i just ordered my 6 cases from Gord. I also snuck in the AT-AT in a moment of weakness. [:D]
