The Crimson's Pirates Haunted Booty Part II
Tweeter sits on Migwin's shoulder as the still water and wind slide by us as we row through the Magical Mist. The Bird dare not take flight in an obscuring fog that ... we know not what will happen next. We close half the distance to the ship and now we can all see it ... Beregon says it is a 100 year old Pirate ship common in these waters long ago. The colours far above are that of a Crimson Flag with Skull and cross rapiers. Up to the bow we row and the figure head is a Busty Mermaid with an eyepatch over 1 eye. Beregon recalls that the 8 or so ships that sailed these waters nearly a century ago were all hunted to extinction. An erriy feeling pervades us as we encroach into its shadow.
Along side, Grath climbs effortlessly to the top followed by Migwin. The deck is deserted - void of all signs of crew and ship life. Errily though, things seem in good repair other than a water logged looking deck with seaweed everywhere. Migwin can spot or track nothing above deck - he hears ... a voice ... below deck. Tharnog scrambles over the rail praying for solid ground. Cedrith and Beregon soon follow on board. Migwin follows the voice ... it seems to be cursing profanities ... the aft cabin leading down into the bowels of the ship - we head for the poop deck and the dark cabin with inches of water submering our footfalls! Beregon has a bad feeling - he casts Mage Armor - Migwin leads the way followed by Tharnog, Beregon, Grath and Cedrith. It smells dank and foul ... like death ... immersed in water. The darkness is pierced by a silvery Mercuria Light (30 foot diameter) emnating from Cedrith. And in the shadows beyond ... a lone cursing figure is revealed in the centre of the room whose back is to us ...oblivous until .... Beregon draws a Wand ... Cedrith dares to ask ...a question....
Around he turns in his brilliantly erriy red glowing howl... fearsome is he both in sight and presence. A pirates tri-hat rests upon a decaying head so pale and guant. His unkempt black beard nearly hides a gruesome pocked marked face and pussy pasty white complextion. His pantloons and pirate boots go strikingly well with rapier he now draws. Our Heroes now bolt out of the room and into the light ... except our Hadozee Rogue who was circling to the room to the right! Rigid in fear stands Grath as he too tries to bolt - the 6 ft Pirate rushes and cuts off our Rogue. Grath makes to charge away ... The Crimson Pirate launches a knife into the bulkhead behind Grath's ear ... that... was not a miss....Grath is intimidated into knowing when not to move ... or else.  The Ghost snarls, " Where you going Matey?". Grath meekly offers, " Away into the light and join my ..." "You ain't going nowhere", the Pirate's foul rotten breath exclaims. Grath believes him and is rooted to the spot. The Ghostly Pirate advances and Grath quivers, Parlay! WormBeard is the name and unrest is all recieves until his treasure is recovered - What say you 20% of his haunted booty is retrieved from the island to the East so that WormBeard may finally rest! Cedrith returns after he recovers his wits - his companions are not far behind in time (apparently Migwin had to restrain the Sea Fearing Dwarf from jumping the rail).
Cedrith attacks with 2 Mercuria Light - miss.ÂWormbeard howls in betrayl Strike at me under Parlay will ya! Wormbeard advances on Cedrith. Cedrith steps up into the fray ... yet the Roge steps between to calm them. Cedrith's turning of the Undead fails ... he is bewildered at his companions sudden turn to diplomacy. WormBeard warns off the Monkey man he has no quarrel with him - but - his impetuous friend. Cedrith stands his ground, yet he waits .... Grath explains in the manner that matters to the Cleric. WormBeard seeks to rest his eternal Spirit ... He needs his treasure ... to rest! Cedrith ... captivated (always willing to put things right) stays his hand. Grath relays the story to Cedrith about returning the treasure for doomed sunken ship and murdered crew so that WormBeard may finally rest. In return the Heroes may keep 20% of the treasure - although Grath quickly tries to ammend that to 10%.ÂCedrith is not impressed. He quickly converses with the rest of the Party and they agree ... reluctantly. Little choice ... we fear - otherwise - the Blue Hippocampus might be doomed also on a windless Sea.
Once again our Heroes row off into the stagnant magical mist in an Easternly direction. We seek a Monastery on a small little Isle. We have a short time to recover WormBeards Haunted Booty. Errily the Mist Parts as we row onward ... Easterly. We spot ... outcroppings bout 20 mins. along with patches of vegetation along krags of coast. Making landfall we come ashore and a brief hike brings us to ... a small Stoned Keep maybe 200 - 300 years old. A 40 ft by 40 ft Keep with a tall wooden gate ... maybe 10 ft by 8 ft size. The walls are pitted, knobby and knarled. Guessing that the Keep appears opened to the Sky ... Grath begins to climb ... up ... to ... the top .... to find ...?

I beat Salty Pete (that rhymes, where a bard when you need one). Does that get me anything?

| Hello,
So, everyone ready for the next adventure? Will we have levelled up at all? Can the wizard now throw fireballs?
And I guess for beating Garret on Saturday the Potion of Cure Serious Wounds I find is part of the recently dispatched room full of Troglodytes?
Cheers

Any suggestions?
I could go with Chinese, but I am also OK with pizza. Not sure if I am in the mood for George's or Burger King (in fact I know that I am not in the mood for Burger King).

| Tales from the Chronicler Nov. 21 Night 9
The Crimson's Pirates Haunted Booty Part III
Grath stands atop the Keep wall looking down upon the inside of the Monastary. He sees an Ivory Domed ... shrine 20 ft by 20 ft in the centre ... supported by columns. Looks to be 15 ft tall in the middle. Grath climbs back down and opens the door after determining there are no traps and such. Single file we enter and spot a stone statue broken in 3 parts - weathered for maybe 100 yrs - looks to be a man in armour with a sword. Beregon thinks it might be a statue of Torem! The Party turns to Grath to ask where the treasure is buried ....Grath is unsure - Cedrith says back to the ship "start paddlin We'll wait!" We fan out and begin to search. Cedrith notices a flicker of torch light from the cracked base of Statue. Migwin and Tharnog lend their combined strength and move the base to reveal ... spiral stairs down ...
Beregon believes the way to be safe so down our party descends. A non-hot torch (source of the light) is in the wall and Cedrith grabs it. About 20 ft down is a landing, further down is a locked door that we unlock and open. Here Grath seems to be usefull until darts rain down as we enter past the frame. None of us are hit as we dodge but we are unsettled a bit. A room 35 ft deep has an Altar at the far end in front of a Mosiac of Seashells of Torem At Guard. Cedrith inspects the Mosiac carefully and respectfully as Grath searches the Altar and a book- less pedestal on the Altar. Beregon inspects Priest Statues surrounding the outer perimeter of the room. Beregon and Cedrith inspect the centre of the chamber with scrunity and ask that all is brought to their attention. Grath searches the Mosiac and notices that some Seashells seem ... pressable ... he starts pressing them not thinking about ...
.... the floor collapses downward beneath Cedrith and Beregon who take falling damage - Grath yells out "found something!" Both the Cleric and the Wizard curse as out from a crack in the far wall comes SNAKES!!! Migwin starts shooting downwards with his bow into the 2 huge snakes. Tharnog drops down into the pitt to attack a snake as 2 more enter the pitt from the crack. Cedrith manages to dispatch a snake as Migwin continues the onslaught of arrows from above. He notices one of these snakes is a Metal Snake with Onyx Eyes amoung the Flame Snakes. Beregon is Acid Arrowing the Snakes as the Swarf attacks on!!! Grath realizes his mistake and tumbles into the pitt to sneak attack - yeah!!! The Wizard does a Snowball Swarm - Sorry Grath who gets caught in the crossfire - but The Flame Snakes are somewhat diminished. The Swarf and the Cleric each dispatch a snake as more come from the crack and one bites the Rogue - Grath seems slower now ... sluggish. Beregon cries to Migwin Get Us Outta Here!!! Migwin halts his arrow onslaught and ties his rope around the bow - stands fast - and lowers the rope down into the Pitt. Beregon casts Orb of Electricity. Tharnog kill and cleaves into another snake as yet another enters from the crack! Migwin is trying to secure the bow to a statue above the Pitt and shouts " COme On Idiots Outta the Pitt!!! . Grath charges a snake and smucks himself into the stone wall .... Argh!!! Beregon magic missles a snake to death and Cedrith races up to heal the hurtin Hadozee!!! No more snakes enter - a reprive - Hurray!!!! Tharnog smashes the last snake and Cedrith retrieves the Onyx Eye Gems from the Metal Snake! The Party climbs out of the Pitt and resumes a carefull search of the surroundings. Tharnog and Grath return to the Pitt and inspect it. Tharnog finds metal bars within the crack that he bends enough to let Grath and himself into.
The Haunted Booty Room is 20 ft by 20 ft and filled with treasure!!! Gold, Platnium, Silver, Coppers, Gems, Scrolls and Magical Weapons Tharnog and Grath's eye go wide with wonder ... or is it lust ... greed? Grath stops Tharnog before they step upon a Erie glowing glyph in the floor just before the entrance - Rogue earned his money now!!!! Beregon and Cedrith yell for them to wait or at least disarm the glyph. On Graths second attempt is able to disable the glyph - he thinks temporarily! Beregon and Cedrith finally arrive and Beregon determines that the circle glyph is a summoning circle activated ... and brings in Snakes from another realm. After a thourghall search their are no more traps and we precede to load the row boat ... after Grath is finished rolling in GOld!!!! I hope someone wrote down all that we found initially. Beregon found the entire treasure to be magical. Migwin was no small help in loading the treasure into the boat as we rowed back.
Wormbeard is indeed joyus and single-minded in staring at his treasure! He agrees that they have earned their 20% and bids them off before ... Tharnog wants more! He wants 30% cause we killed snakes!!! Done says WormBeard "Done at a price ... yer Soul!" Tharnog's eyes begin to glow the same evil errie red that the ship does ... He is Possessed!!!! Cedrith tries to turn undead and fails - he attacks Wormbeard!!! Migwin grapples with the possessed Dwarf but begins taking damage as the Dwarf ungrapples and stands up! Grath tumbles to flank the Pirate but fails to hit. Cedrith continues the attack but fumbles his magic sword! Migwin rages against the Swarf with Grath who has changed targets. Migwin's raging is doing lethal damage to Tharnog who is also unrelent- less in lethal damage to the Barbarian! Beregon and Cedrith concentrate their blows onto the Crimson Pirate ... seemingly to no avail. Beregon begins to notice as WormBeard begins a manacle laugh ... the ship is ... "the ship is ... fading away ... get off!!!" Migwin hears none of this as he continues to rage against the Possessed Dwarf. Now Cedrith can see the ship fading too ... perhaps a few seconds left ... not a minute to spare .... Possessed Tharnog kills Migwin ... NOOOOO!!!! But Grath who is sneak attacking Tharnog subduals Tharnog down!!! Cedrith crosses over the deck taking an attack of opportunity from the Crimson Pirate - he stabilizes Migwin from certain death by healing. Beregon his facing down the Crimson Pirate to his near death and cries for help; but, all are busy until the Dwarf falls after which Grath and Cedrith charge into the fray. Beregon says to flee for your lives and jumps over the rail into the rowboat with the two crew men - near death himself. Cedrith grabs the unconscious Dwarf he and Grath had flanked into submission and leaps from the side. The Crimson Pirate is charging for Grath who has grabbed a bag of booty as he hops onto the railing ... Oh to grab but a second bag of treasure .... over the side he goes ... and the cursing Pirate who was between him and the rest of the treasure disappears with the ship cursing ... as he appearred to us! The Hadozee lands expertly into the row boat with his life and soul.
We row back to the Blue Hippocampus and Crew and Captain Salty Pete. They are merry and in good spirits as we relate good news that the way is clear ... and the magical mist is indeed gone ... blue skies and a stirring wind blows our happy ship along. We share the booty with our shipmates as it seems only right ... we scored more than our 20% originally promised! There seems to be a lesson in all this .... perhaps Grath and Tharnog will not soon forget being sick with the green eyed monster of envy!!!
Maybe not - they seem to be polishing the spoils! And ... On we Sail......

You can always get your healing from wands and potions.

What does everyone think of that. It depends a bit on how long you believe the campaign is going to go. If the campaign ends at like level 9, you'd end up being a wizard 3/cleric 3/mt 2, and you'd barely have access to third level spells. I think you'd be better off with just 8 levels of cleric (along with your +1 racial adjustment). | |

I was planning on going sorceror from here on in. That would give us 3 "mages" in the crew, which could be fun. But neither you nor I would have the higher level spells needed for our level encounters. Still, it could be fun.

| Ah, I thought you were going to focus more on the Barbarian side of things, still it could be interesting. If we reach 20 that would make me a Cleric 5/Wizard 4/Theurge 10
With spells equivelent to a 15/14 Cleric/Wizard which is not too shabby.
