| Hello,
Good to see Nico back to the boards.
Nice to see 9 people out for the league. Disappointing 0-3 for me today.
Oh well, it is all in fun, right?
Cheers

| Twas indeed a fun afternoon of DDM. Don't look now Jay, but happy-go-lucky Team Elan is gaining on ya. It's that new Dashing Swordsman Prestige Class I tell ya.
Sigh, if only I'd opened today's prize booster yesterday as my new additions. I coulda played:
Harmonium Guard
Fire Giant Forgepriest
Bluespawn Stormlizard x2
Greenspawn Sneak
Kobold Monk | |

| To answer a few things that came up today:
(06/28/2006) Enhanced Mobility [#]: When using this ability, all of this creature's attacks must happen after its movement has finished; this ability does not allow this creature to move between or after its attacks. This ability has no effect when this creature charges.
(08/06/2006) Dragon Graveyard: The six large rib bones protruding from the ground around the central victory area are treated as statues.
Off to ask Guy about diagonally moving past an enemy.
Scratch that, I won't ask him, I'll just finish reading his webpage.
(08/02/05) Q. Assuming no walls are in the way, can a creature move diagonally between two enemies? Can a creature move diagonally between two squares of difficult terrain into a clear square without paying extra for the difficult terrain?
NOTE: This may be better with a diagram.
A. Yes on both. The rules say creatures cannot move through enemies, but to count as moving "through" an enemy's square, a creature must completely enter that square; diagonally moving between two enemies' squares doesn't put a creature completely in either of those squares. Similarly, a creature only pays the cost of terrain for squares that it completely enters.

| @Richard - Thanx for looking those up. I'm surprised at the ruling on diagonal movement through enemies though. I think this will come up at a tournament sometime and it will surprise people that it is actually legal. I hope a future rulebook/starter set clarifies some of these. If I am called on to support this as a ruling (in my capacity as a judge), I will be hard pressed to do so. Sigh......
@Jay - they do look cool don't they? I'm thinking of getting some, then swapping out the punch out models with WOTC plastic models and then playing it using wizkids rules (if it is like pirates). Well maybe I'm getting ahead of myself here, I should get the product in first......
GENCON trip - who's in? We should start planning it, booking hotels, budgeting for meals, transportation etc... I figure driving will be cheapest, but that ties up more time. Maybe flying would be best. How much? I don't know, but let's form a committee and see who is ready to commit to making this a go.
Who's in?

| The Official Gencon website.
Watch that clock tick down.....
$75 US each just to get in the door all 4 days.
Hotel.ca will let you know how much rooms cost there.
Let's say you go with the Comfort Inn 15 minutes to downtown, that'll be about $100 a night. Assuming 4 people go and share a room that'll put the running total at roughly just under $200 so far.
Assuming it's a drive there gas money becomes the big variable. It's in the middle of August where the gas companies like to squeaze you for every penny. No way to accuratly plan exactly how much that will be now.
Food probably won't be a big issue, fast food is cheep and plentiful down there if of questionable quality at times. Mmmmm...... White Castle.......
After that the major expense is whatever everyone wants to spend on games and souveniers.
Oh yes, and everyone needs to get a passport.
Did I miss anything? | | | |

| Hello all,
@ Richard II - Good luck this weekend. I expect to see your name mentioned in the standings or something. Plus, you have to come back with gifts for all of us.
@ Beer Baron - There was a user over on the A&AM boards asking about Winnipeg gamers, so I have referred him to you and to this thread. Hopefully he will get in touch.
@ Beer Baron - Count me out for Gen Con. I am working on a big job application that will hopefully result in a nice government job around the end of August. Have to be free to commit to that if it comes through.
@ All - Hordelings? I seem to have the same loading problems there as here, so we will see.
Cheers

| Re Gencon:
I think I can budget around $1000 for the trip and I imagine that would be pretty close to what it would cost to drive and hotel it for the con and leave some spending money too. Passports are only necesarry for flying into the US driving in you won't need one till 2009 I believe.

| I started some rough budgeting for Gencon, all in Cdn funds and based on 4 people going in a car:
Badge $100 Hotel $150 Gas $100 Food $100 -150 ---------------------------- $450 -500
My estimate for gas is probably high, its around 3600km round trip at a buck a liter and a car that does 10L/100km thats only $360, I think my car gets about 8L/100km.
So it might not be too expensive.

| | lol aggreed, however, it would depend on what kind of vehicle you guys take as well, like rob said, if u take his car that would be a lot in gas, round trip of 360, what about inter city driving, unless you guys plan to walk every where. | | Well, I would like to think my new profession is pretty simple... | The way I figure it, it would at least be 6 days (4 at the Con and 2 of hard travel) so given $150 that works out to $25 a day. That could work out, in particular if you load up on snacks for the trip down. Mmmmmm... snacks.
$600 should safely cover you not counting games, convention hookers, souveniers, booze, t-shirts, bail money, and other individual stuff.
