Yeah, I'm not sure what he's carrying..... but take a close look at the hat. The knife and fork crossbones is worth the price of admission.

Migwin’s Diary for Kythorn 6th, in the Year of Wild Magic

We’ve spent the last few days exploring a cavern complex on this island we’ve been sheltering in to wait out a storm. We’ve been trapped in part of the complex for several hours. After much work, Grath manages to get the stone doors open and we continue on.

We headed upstairs to find signs of a battle, where there was evidence of Salty Pete’s fire sword. Perhaps they came looking for us. We followed the trail further upstairs, where we got ambushed by Troglodytes. After a brief battle we defeated them. We press on as it seems Salty Pete may be in trouble. We find the bodies of Van Gelder and Frantaslav, as well as a neckerchief belonging to Hanover the sailor. We come to room that seems to be barricaded. There is a trail of blood and we follow it. After no-one answers I chop my way through with my axe. As it turns out, it was a collapsed ceiling and rubble was everywhere. Apparently Pete hit the ceiling with his sword, as evidenced by more scorch marks. Further on is some weird hex shaped room.

There is a relief mural of a dragon, which radiates magic (of the abjuration school, according to Cedrith). We press on, and Grath says he feels the area is haunted. We come to some stairs and the trail of blood continues. I examine it and find out it is a day old, and there is 3 people moving on. The trail continues to a large open chamber full of trogs!

I manage to get my shield up this time, and Tharnog rushes in. He gets surrounded as the trogs rush forward. Beregon snowball swarms them, but they push past the dwarf and come to toe with Grath and myself. Tharnog keeps bashing them, Beregon magic missles the trog in front of Grath and takes him out. Grath uses the break to tumble into flanking position, but he fumbles and goes down. MIGWIN HATES TROGS!!!!! I fly into a battle frenzy, drop one and step up to face their captain. The shamans in the back have summoned some dragonmen and draconic type beasts. One rushes forward and breathes fire on us. Salty Pete mysteriously shows up, right in time as we’re taking a beating. He drops the captain and a fire-belcher, I drop the ragedrake, and things are turning around. I charge forward but my sword is covered in trog blood and it flies out of my hands! I start using my fists! Salty Pete fights on, and Beregon missiles the last guy.

Salty Pete says a giant crab came out of the water, attacked the crew which fled down our tunnel. As they got to the other end they skirmished with the trogs, and last all hands except for Percy and Salty Pete. They hid in a secret door, which we missed on our way by. He heard the commotion and came to help.

Cedrith patches us all up as Beregon detects magic on the gathered stuff. We find some magic rings and a mace. There is a dragons head sculpture on the wall and it radiates conjuration.

We decide to head back to the ship, if there is a ship to return to. On the way back we find the bodies of Xixpel, Mendelbaum & Corbo (alligator bait). We find that the ship is mostly okay, but has taken some damage. It’s to dark to tell, so we’ll have to wait until morning to assess further. We give the dead crew their last rites and send them into the watery caverns riptide chamber. The crew left on the ship is okay. Now it is up to us to get the goods back to the ship.

The next day we work on the ship. Beregon and Cedrith use their Mending and Make Whole spells to help fix the ship. I take advantage of my carpentry background to work on the ship. We set sail and head east. The winds are high, but the sea is manageable. Percy charts us to the nearest port as we need supplies and crew. The nearest port is Teziir, an independent city on the Dragon Coast. It’s a large and prosperous merchant city. With the reduced compliment of crew it is going to take us 8 days to get there.

XP – to be posted later.

Tales from the Chronicler Nov. 28 Night 10

Dragon's Squall Before the Storm  Part II

"Damn Fool" Salty Pete calls Tharnog our lost companion swept out to sea!
If only he had listened to Beregon and lashed the rope around his waist! Alas, the
party mourns quietly as we survey the remains of our crew and camp after the
crocidile attack. Beregon muses that all is not lost as his Celestial Porpoise may
save Tharnog yet. Deep in the undertow does Tharnog begin to lose breath as
he is swept out to sea - out of murky depths comes - the porpoise grabs hold of
the Dwarf. Swimming back to the Island the Celestial Porpoise deposits our waterlogged
companion onto the craggily shore of a sheer cliff face.  So overjoyed is Tharnog that he
lays many a kisses upon the beak of our magical friend before he fades away to nothing.
Tharnog is alone but alive on a sheer jagged mountain face battered by stormy squall.
Hazzarding a guess that camp lay somewhere to the right he proceed to scale the face -
only he is too encumbered.  He can move or climb not an inch of the mountains face.
Perhaps it is better no one can see his fate - A dwarf helpless upon the mountain.

Back at camp - no one sleeps as per Salty Pete's order - the camp is weary but alert and
perhaps a little on edge from losing Tharnog to the depths.  It is good we did not sleep
as out from one of the tunnels emerges ... 9 Troglodytes.   Grath charges in grief for the
loss the Dwarf.  Beregon casts Sleep and fells 2 immediately.  Migwin uses Burning Hands on the Trogs as Salty Pete slashes away with his Black Bladed Burning Sword.
Cedrith steps into the fray with his sword and Beregon unleashes Snowball Swarm.  Salty Pete kills a Trog and cleaves into another (he's taking our experience points!) Grath tumbles to gain a flanking position as Beregon casts lesser orb of electricity.
Salty Pete is dealy a hurting blow but Cedrith finishes off the last Troglodyte!
Primitive Weapons and Potions are found on the dead Troglodytes (stink loinclothes too!).
Cedrith heals Salty Pete who is unsure of more attacks to follow.  The Captain believes
the storm outside has continued and that we may be subject to more attacks - we remain on guard into our sleepless night.Â3 hours till dawn - we are weary!

Tharnog-having shed all armor to the rocks below-climbs steadily down the mountain face.
Hand over hand...inch by inch...excruciating...muscle fatigue...agony. He sees a flicker
of light from the cave inwhich our party camps.
  Dawn approaches...hard to see through
the stormy gail.  The camp is quiet in their brooding ... yet Grath hears .... what?!
"Stand Ready!!!" Grath shouts out as he goes bounding atop some mysterious short
stout figure entering the cave!ÂZombie!!! Cries Grath who assails the unsuspecting victim who collapses to the cave floor ... Beregon pulls Grath off to reveal ... Tharnog!!!
THARNOG LIVES! .... THARNOG LIVES!!! Grath get off Tharnog!!!  Grath pokes Tharnog with a stick ... nope ... not a Zombie!!!! Tharnog sleeps wearily now, Grath picks up the slumbering Dwarf and lays him down at camp next to the fire.  Percy ministers first aid and cleans Tharnog as best he can.  Cedrith spots a glint in the Dwarfs beard ... out comes a bottle ... with a message??  The uncorked bottle yields a map and message
The message is in Draconic ... Dragon Lair House???  Salty Pete doesn't like the irk of this!
If the message suggests a Dragon on the Ilse the Party muses .... then Salty Pete worries that their damaged Cog may well not survive the storm and the Dragon wence the squall ends!  The Captain Salty Pete charges us with clearing the Ilse of any remaining danager to sageguard what is left of ship and crew!

Migwin swims down the water filled tunnel of our bane with rope tied around his waist.
In the airpocket Migwin waits for the rest of the party to emerge from the water - Tharnog tied this time.  Migwin continues on in into the next water tunnel.  Swimming on we emerge into another cavern.  A sloping upward corridor goes splits forward and to the right 30 ft ... leading to a collapsed mess of rubble.  Continuing up the forward option we continue 20 ft past a smashed open door.  Grath checks for traps and then
looks inside ... stairs going up/ stairs going down!!!!  We venture down the stairs
and discover a room that Grath says is untrapped.  Migwin wanders in along with Tharnog looking at various carvings in the room.  Dragon Diety Runes and Carvings of Troglodytes in various poses.  We enter a foray 20 ft by 20 ft to a .... locked door that Grath unlocks with (nat20) ... Migwin listens at the door and then pushes it open to a ... shrine with a raised center with smashed rocks in the middle (statue??).  The Shrine stinks of ... TROGLODYTES!Â13 Trogs, 3 Spellcasters??? at the far end.

Cedrith steps up and casts BLESS. Beregon casts Mage Armor upon himself!  Then
our mighty wizard unleashes snowball storm.  Migwin and Grath step up and are hit
by a volley or arrows.  Cedrith casts protection from evil as Migwin rages and smashes
into Grath!!! Beregon lets loose with Acid Arrow but misses our foes.  We try to hold off
the Trog's in the foray except for Migwin and Thagnor who stepped into the room.  Trogs enter into the foray as Beregon casts Spider Climb and skirts up the foray's arched doorway.  Migwin kills a Trog viciously and Tharnog follows suit.  Grath tries to out flank a trog and fumbles ... he is struck by ... GRATH GOES BLIND!!!!  He gropes and swings his cutlass wildly.  He continues to chop away at a Trog he missed before.  Beregon Tal casts Magic Missle at one of the Spellcasters.  Cedrith tries to hold the foray against the
inlux of trogs.  Tharnog kills 2 more Troglodytes and Migwin does in another.  From high above the Wizard is unassailed and casts lesser Orb of Electricity for the 3rd time - and fails for the 3rd time.  Cedrith attacks with his Spiritual Weapon and Tharnog fells another Trog.  Migwin smashes another Trog to bits before succumbing to the blows unconscious.  Beregon uses Shocking Grasp on another Spellcaster.  Cedrith risks 2 attacks of opportunity to reach Migwin.  Grath still swinging blindly fumbles his Cutlass into the corner and draws his magical dagger.  Swinging ... swinging ... he kills his assailant who has been taunting him ... only to go down from another Trog.  Beregon uses magic missle, magic missle and takes Grath out of danger.  At last the Party is victorious ... but hurting.  The Shrine awaits our inspection (it reeks of Trog) but smell is all Grath can percieve ....GRATH IS PERMANENTLY BLIND!!!

Stop monkeying around - thats my job!!!

Still doing the XP calculating thang. Hopefully some time this weekend.

In the meantime you get a little bonus XP opertunity. Post your account of all that has happened to our brave adventurers since they left the port of Suzail from your own character's perspecitve. I will reward the best post with 500 XP and 100 less for every position behind your entry is judged.

Perhaps I'll even let Len and Richard choose who has the best posts.... more easy XP, how can you refuse.

Salty Pete's Tales of the Sea

Volume I – Chapter I

The Terrible Turtle of Tsurlagol

Twas the Year of the Grimoire and I was a lad no more than your age. Me and my mates Franco and Helvechio had signed on as fishers aboard the Fortune's Flounder out of the port of Tsurlagol. The pay was on the lean side but Deljohn was a capable sailor and a fair captain.

We were 6 days out of port and had come across an area where the fish were as thick as me ol' Gran’s porridge, stick to your ribs it would. We spent the better part of the rest of that day a pullin' net loads of until the sun was nigh about to set.

Our good fortune was not to last. The air grew unnaturally still and filled with a bitter chill as a dense fog blew in from nowhere. The Flounder's crew in a panic Captain Deljohn set about putting us to the ship's oars to flee whatever ill might be coming our way.

Alas there was no time. Through the thick fog we heard a mighty roar and new some manner of beast o’ the ocean was upon us. Grabbing what makeshift weapons we could the crew of Fortune's Flounder prepared to face death......

Maybe in honor of Len's visit we should do Chinese? We need a never ending Wok
of Chinese goodness!

That Paladin is pretty wicked Mike - very heroic and iconic - is that Len's Paladin assuming he is still playing?  He isn't here for very long so it would be understandable if he just wanted to visit.

Grath’s Log

Out of Suzail.ÂSea is pretty and blue.ÂSpent time up in the rigging.

No one knows I hid some banana’s up here in the crow’s nest.ÂEveryone is working really hard down there while I eat my Banana’s, play and frolic in the rigging!

Me thinks it is the 2nd OR 3rd day out of Suzail.ÂReally Foggy out!

Me can’t see my paws or arse to wipe with on the poop deck.ÂOh well, I just wash in that barrel of water over there.ÂUp to the Crow’s Nest for a

Banana and a Snooze.

Beregon keeps yellin at me to come down – who made him leader??? Awefully tempting to let loose with some Monkey Poop!!!ÂBut me don’t want to fight nomore with the Wizard.ÂStill he seems awefully upset since I descried Red Sun out on the Horizon!ÂMe go down – thinks that Salty Pete has an Away Mission for us.ÂKeep me Banana’s safe Diary!ÂMe be back to Crow’s Nest and Nap in no time.

Grath! Stop goofing off in the Crow’s Nest or I shall report you to the Captain!!!ÂI am confiscating the rest of your Banana’s. Signed Cedrith!

Lousy X, steal me Banana’s. Crimson Pirate sure had a potty mouth! He had lots of pretty trinkets in his booty! Dumb Tharnog and his greedy – well – Grath pretty greedy too!ÂStill, we gots a bag of treasure before the ship faded to nothing. We sail off to …  I think I can catch an Albatross … me leap for it … … … All those Pretty GEMS!!!

Nice weather We’ re having aren’t we?ÂSo how have you been keeping up here?ÂPlenty of freshair for me precious Diary … not moldy I hope?

Uh Oh, Cedrith is callin … another lecture on lusty greed I think???

He makes a good target … no wait … no wait ... misseds him!!!

Another sailor … passing …big mess … wait … wait … bombs away! Oh shit! Cedrith and Salty Pete saw that one!

Well Captain and Cedrith put Monkey KP duty for a week …$@#!

Nasty weather We’re having eh Dear Diary??? Salty Pete seems … a bit distant … staring into the horizon – looks like a Squall!ÂThe Captain has ordered everything to be lashed down. (Wait)ÂWe’re turning around and …We’re racing the Dark Clouds!!!

Must go ashore now Dear Diary – I wish you well up here in the nest!

Keep ship safe – we keep Percy safe – Salty Pete and Crew too … but the Captain is well seasoned … he can help us!

Dear Diary – Oh Joy I have at finding you alive and well.ÂWe faced stinky lizards, crocodiles, spirits and Dragon … thingy’s!ÂMe got new magical longsword, gleaming booty … shame ‘bout me falling asleep on watch and sailor eatin’ by Croc … at least me get his boots!!!ÂSticking out of his mouth!ÂOh, me found my Banana’s and hid them awhile back in safe place!

Tales from the Chronicler Dec. 5th Session 11

Beyond the Shrine to Dragon Signs and Spirits Part I

Our intreprid Heroes have at last a moment to breath after narrowly averting
deaths throes yet again. They survey the defaced Shrine that the Troglodytes have
been stinking up and squating in - that is everyone but the blind Hadozee !
The center of the room had what appeared to be a 10 ft by 10 ft statue of a
robed human figure ... perhaps noble in nature
Beregon determines using his
prowness in Architechture that the Statue was Chessenta in Origin of perhaps a
Chesar Diety (Draconic in Nature) Sounding less and less like a dragon!

A door on the left of the Shrine chamber leads to a 30 ft corridor - rushing water can
be heard. At the far end is rushing water over a crumbled ceiling wall ... it falls below
as far as the eye can see (bout 20 ft. down) smashed wooden debris below -
perhaps the structure around a door gave way - triggered trap maybe???
Either
way this appears to be a blind-end ... Sorry Grath!!!!

Returning to the Shrine - none of us - can find anything of importance??? We take a
long time to search the Shrine and after a time find a stone door. Grath blindly
searches for traps and finds nothing ... but ... he determines how to open it ....
and spends an enternity pushing a pull door ... the party looks on in ... well they
correct the poor blind Hadozee. Taking his time - Grath finds - the door is spring
loaded after Tharnog and Migwin were able to force the door to slide enough to
gain entry. A piece of the center Statue is wedged in between the Stone Door
and the wall incase the trap is triggered again.

Preceding in we describe to Grath what we see ... a long corridor, about 20 ft
in width. The corridor center is a hexagonal/octogonal area with a diamond/square
support pillar with paintings upon each side. Beyond the mural area the corridor
continues to what Grath can determine to be another stone door - all be it more
closely resembling that of rock than stone.  The paintings are of nobles or perhaps
statesmen as near as Cedrith or Beregon can decipher - Elders maybe???  The
paintings are quite old as the stone beneath which they are painted on is
crumbling away.   Cedrith notices etchings in the stone wall all around the corridor
and the paintings - some kind of language.  Migwin figures that the etchings are
Draconic and proceeds to learn more about the paintings after being unable to
force the closed stone door.  The etchings reveal that the Paintings are of some
sort of Cult!  Nobles serving? Evil Diety Timat?  Servants in Grey Robes?  Behold
the Gold Dragon Heads or something or another Red/Green Gemstones around
the Red Dragon!?
Grath want to go home - no sight equals quiver in fright!!!

The Party feels this might be a defendable place to spend the night.  The 1st
watch goes to Beregon and Grath - he needs consoling!  The 2nd watch goes to
Cedrith and Migwin and as usual the final watch goes to Tharnog who continues
to practice the jug (but wakes no one and invites no sudden doom - must be
getting better!)  The night passes uneventfull.  In the morning, Beregon has
invoked a spell that ... Voila .... Returns sight to our Hadozee friend!ÂOver joyed
Grath kisses every.... just kidding ...do you guys read this stuff or what???

Searching the far closed stone door Grath is able to figure that the two traps are
indeed linked .... he attempts to open/disable ... Oh and the far wedged open
stone door to the Shrine SLAMS SHUT!  The stone statue wedge is pullverized
to smitherines and the party is now in the dark! Now we are all blind and
groping ... for what???  The trap is triggered - Migwin and Tharnog force open
this new door to ... A TEMPLE!!!

A Spacious Room that Dwarfs the Shrine by comparison - sorry Thagnor!  Four
skinny pillars - more decorative it seems than supportive - form an inside central
square perimeter.  The Room must be ... 25 feet high ... stupendious is the gleaming
saucer sized yellow gems forming the Eyes of a Mosiac of a Red Dragon's Head
with wings.  The Eyes seem to beckon in call as they glint and sparkle with a will
of there own ... and Migwin, Tharnog and Grath are all to eager to charge forward
down the Temples small steps to cross the temple to these captivating jewels!!!
Cedrith and Beregon are dismayed (should have dispelled magic on Grath later!)
What none of the charging 3 heard or noticed was ... as figured later ... the small
stairs were an Arcane trigger for 3 Guardians!!! (How approprate in number but
not in match Mike!!!

A 20 foot Cyclops, a 20 ft Troll and a 10 foot high Life Leeching Otyugh appears
around Migwin, Tharnog and Grath!!!ÂMother!!??  This is apparently how Mike the
mighty DM rewards stupidity OR just the fact that we didn't think before we leaped!!!
Will we survive? Tune In later to find ... Oh ... Scott chronicled last week already
so I guess we made it through ... OR DID WE!!!!

Stop monkeying around - thats my job!!!

Still plenty of time to post your view on the past few adventures for the bonus Xp. Don't let Nico take it all.

Salty Pete figures it'll be about 4 day in port finishing the repairs to the ship, restocking, and recruiting the new crew members. Let me know if there's anything you'd like to take care of before wednesday's session.

Everyone good with Chinese this week?

Tales from the Chronicler Dec. 5th Session 11

Beyond the Shrine to Dragon Signs and Spirits Part II

When last we left our endangered band - Migwin, Tharnog and Grath were surrounded
by 20 ft tall Cyclops and a Troll with a 10 ft high Lifeleech Otyugh. Beregon and Cedrith
could only look on in - shear dumbfoundment at their party members ... ... impulsiveness!
Cedrith had heard a tingling sound as the Trio rushed forward across the stairs leading
down into the Hugh Spacious 25 ft high Temple. Later it would be learned that the
stairs were an arcane trigger/trap to summon the guardians to protect ... what?? The
previous room had Draconic Etchings and 4 paintings of servants to the evil diety Timat!
The Etchings also hinted at some sort of red and/or green gems .... treasure???
I was born in the wrong decade - I could have wrote serial Re-Caps!!!!!

Mesmerized by the 20 ft high yellow gem stones for eyes that the Red Dragon Mosiac
had on the far wall of the Temple - Our Trio is dangerously unaware to their predicament
The Cyclops charges Migwin and hits him mightly!  Migwin takes a 5 ft step back to cast
Shield.  The Troll swipes hard at Migwin, Ouch!  Tharnog hits the Cyclops ... HARD!  Grath
tumbles for the flank successfully - no hit!.  The Otyugh rushes Cedrith stopping the Cleric from rushing to our aid and cutting off Beregon in the process - they are stuck in the Main foray at the top of the small stairs.  Beregon; however, is not stymied as he FireBalls & singes the Cyclops, Troll and our poor Hadozee!!!  Cedrith gets a Spiritual Weapon in on the Otyugh! The Monsters go - Cedrith is grappled by the Otyugh: Migwin
is hit by the Cyclops and the Troll.  Migwin misses the Eye of the Cyclops with a chucked
spear!  Tharnog strikes the Cyclops ... HARD!  Cedrith can't quite shake the Otyugh's
Gapple and Beregon lets loose with a Snowball Storm on the Otyugh to remove his
fellow companion from his dire straights. Grath gets the SNEAK ATTACK DAMAGE and takes the assist in the kill for the Cyclops that Tharnog wittled down!!!  Grath tumbles
away from the falling Cyclops! Looks like the Otyugh is going to make a Cleric sandwich!

Tharnog hits the Troll ... HARD!  The Troll is pissed ... CLAW, BITES, RENDS Tharnog!!!
Migwin is behind the Troll and smashes 2 Oil Flasks onto the Trolls back ... moves up for
the flank next turn!  Cedrith disappears into the Otyugh's Mouth casting Spiritual Weapon ... valiant to the end ... (at least he has an in with GOD!!!!)  Grath is in no position to get an attack in on the Otyugh ... but WAIT ... HEEEE ... TUMBLES in and hits
the mighty Otyugh with a minor attack.  Sorry Grath they can't all be great hits; but, every hit counts!  Beregon steps up to the plate ... and pitches a ... Orb of Electricity ...
its ... a .... Knockout ... OR a total death kill for the Otyugh ... thats got to hurt!!! Migwin casts BURNING HANDS and starts roasting some sweet smelling Troll!  Both Migwin and Tharnog are just laying into that Troll (Is someone giving Tharnog a chair out of the ring?)  Migwin is laying into the Troll with his Sword.  The Troll is in agony and furious with the Dwarfs chair manouver ... CLAWS, CLAWS Tharnog ... Ouch!!!  And he bites Migwin viciously ... this Troll is in his Death Throes ... and Dangerously Savage!!!

Beregon is cutting Cedrith free of the dead Otyugh as ... Tharnog goes down HARD ...
and ... out for the fight ... the flaming Troll wanted that Dwarf badly!  Grath charges the Troll and hits ... but not for much ... Monkey Man is washed out for the rest of the game
... but what spirit.  Cedrith is free ... and moving to assist his fallen friend the Dwarf!!!
WAIT, WAIT, ... MIGWIN HAS HIS RAGE ON!!!! He is just givener to that TROLL ... OH ... OH ... this should be edited ... Grath has Fallen ... thanks for coming out Monkey Man!!
Oh ... Migwin and the Troll are JUST ... ABUSING ... THEIR BODIES!!!  NO! NO! MIGWIN is
Down!  Migwin is DOWN .... folks ... I think that MYSTIFYING SORCCER is DEAD ... I think
this game is going to the HOME team ... THE TROLL'S MONSTERS!!!  This is a sad Day for
... WTH is this TEAM called again ... No mind anyway it is looking like a total PARTY KILL!
That Wizard better have a HAT TRICK left!  Beregon steps up ... been hot tonight ... will ... he ... do it!  He's casting .... He's casting .... Its brilliant ... Here comes that lumbering, flaming Troll .... Cedrith is healing ... trying to move in for the assist ... Beregon casts .... MAGIC MISSLE ... that flaming TROLL ... smacked hard ... falls hard ...
1 ... 2 ... 3 ... 10 ... IT's OVER ... IT's OVer!!!  OUr Party is victorious ... WHEW!

Maybe I should have considered sports announcement ... mind you I should have picked one sport - I think I have several up there.  The last paragrah is fairly accurate - creative license.

Stop monkeying around - thats my job!!!

Actually I was trying to estimate accurately from memory!
Obviously I have grossly mangled the estimation!

But it is pretty tall compared to the figure I thought?
What would you say - 1/2 as much?
If we assume the medium base diameter is 5 ft ... yeah
I guess it would be a bit smaller ... Oh Well!

Hello,

I am OK with Chinese again this Wednesday.   I may be getting there quite close to 6:00, so feel free to order without me.  I would be quite satisfied with an order similar to last time.

Cheers

Beregon's Recounting of Events

- Leaving Suzail on the track of the slavers who have kidnapped Elren, my eldest brother.  They must have a 3-4 day head start as far as we can tell.  It seems that all of my siblings are at risk.  Have I angered a deity?  Is Shar stalking my family for my devotion to Mystra.

- Ugh, seasick again.  I have not felt this sick since the voyage when I was captured and sold to Ugluk.  I would think that after years at sea I would be over this.

- The crew is settling in now, and we are making good time.  Hopefully we will catch up slightly to the slavers on the way to Westgate.

- Stalled!  A strange mist has enveloped our vessel.  Magical mist from a nether realm I suspect.

- Picking up the tale later, the mist was indeed magical and there was a ghost ship glowing crimson in the mist.  We ended up striking a deal with a spectre of some sort to retrieve his treasure so that he could rest in peace.  Of course, the Hadozee and the Dwarf could not keep their paws to themselves.  Tharnog ended up getting possessed and we barely escaped with our lives.  I ended up toe to toe with foul spectre, Captain Wormbeard or something like that.  Barely managed to dive over the side before the ship disappeared back to the Nine Hells.  We had fought flaming and metal snakes earlier at a ruined shrine, much easier than the ghost.

- Must remember to get more ink and parchment for scrolls and spells.  Too much to do to prepare to save the lives of my companions and my brother.

- Three more days of sail after our magical fog and now storm clouds on the horizon.  Salty Pete is searching for a place to seek shelter as we flee before the storm.

- We managed to make it a rocky islet and have now left a skeleton crew aboard the ship as the rest of us shelter in a cave with the majority of the cargo from the hold.  Hopefully the storm will blow over quickly.

- Awakened by screams.  One of the crew eaten by a crocodile.  That battle followed by a restless night and a Troglodyte attack.

- Too much to do these past two days.  Thought we had lost Tharnog again (stupid Dwarf) after he went swimming without a rope through an underwater cavern.  I summoned a celestial porpoise that managed to save him (although I did not know it at the time).  Traipsing through tunnels we found some sort of temple complex and killed more troglodytes, and then were trapped in a chamaber with doors rigged to close when handled internally, or when one of the pair was forced open.  Grath managed to find the trap, but not to disarm it completely.

- Found a shrine and magical treasure, but I am depleting my resources and wasting time.  How many days ahead of us are the slavers now?  I am sure they outran the storm with the head start they had.  Killed a Cyclops, Troll and Otyugh as part of a magical trap.  Greed rules the hearts of my companions.  Wisom and arcane power are what we need.

- More combat with Trogs, and Trogs, and nearly the death of all of us again.  Met up with Salty Pete and discovered that the rest of the crew on the island aside from Percy have been slaughtered by a giant crab and the Trogs.  We found some sort of portal as well, but chose (wisely for once) not to tamper with it.  The storm had finally died down, but the ship was heavily damaged.  We spent a day and a half repairing things and now are headed to land.  We need a real port to finish repairs.  I hope to convince the party to re-equip with some better gear, and also to obtain some supplies for wand construction.  More firepower is needed if we are going to keep falling into fights when the dwarf, Hadozee (and now they have infected Migwin) run past traps and set them off.

Cheers

Tales from the Chronicler Dec. 5th Session 11

Beyond the Shrine to Dragon Signs and Spirits Part III

The Party has a breather and heals up ... as much as they have left in spells to use!
The Troll is burned to a cinder to prevent regeneration. Beregon reports nothing on the Utyugh worth salvaging. The Cyclops has a very BIG pole weapon - useless to us - and a dented Bronze Breast Plate - also much to big to use - Oh Well. Grath checks out the stairs that Cedrith says triggered the summoning - he successfully determines that the Arcane trigger will not go again.  Migwin is able to feel/know? that the Monsters were summoned using conjuration magic. The Party takes to searching the rest of the Temple to no avail. Tharnog gazes up at the Yellow Gems that had so ... lured the Trio to trigger the stairs ... 20 ft up in the Red Dragon Mosiac is hard to examine. Beregon casts Spider Climb on Grath so that he can appraise ... check for traps!Grath attempts to disable the Golden Yellow Gem's ... which will do something ... Uh Oh!!!!

Four Spirits materialize in the Temple-one to each of the four skinny stone columns.
They appear to be ... the 4 Spirits from the Old Paintings in that central area of the corridor. Probably not nice Spirits since Migwin said they were servants or nobles of an evil diety or such eh? Grath walks upside down on the ceiling above one such Spirit and ... talks ... they don't seem happy to see us ... What the Heck ... Grath taunts the Evil Spirit ... who is shooting fire at him!  Grath dodges along the ceiling as he runs upsidedown. Cedrith attempts to turn the Spirits but they remain. Beregon hits a Spirit luckily and Grath tumbles down off the ceiling to stab a Spirit with his magical dagger ... and hits! Tharnog charges a Spirit ... and Kills it ... yeah Tharnog! Cedrith's 2nd turning attempt fairs no better as the Spirits refuse to flee. Beregon Magic Missles and hits two Spirits! Grath stabs his Spirit again with his magical dagger and connects. Cedrith
and Tharnog try a couple of times each to swing their swords ... SWISH ... straight through the Spirits no effect. Beregon is hitting with magic missle and Grath is chipping away with his magical dagger. Our Party must dodge shooting flame from the spirits - but - Beregon and Tharnog manage to start finishing off the spirits. Cedrith detects or notices that golden magical pendants fall from the Spirits as the Undead are disrupted! Cedrith retrieves them and notes they appear to have A Family Creast and they are of Necromatic Evil Magic.

Grath continues to Spider Climb to the Gems and do a further inspection. Grath determines that one of the Yellow Dragon Eye Gems when turned one-way will do ... something??? Grath warns party ... turns the Gem ...The Dragon's Head Mosiac in the Temple Wall ... It's Mouth Opens wide to reveal an ... entrance ... 8ft tall off the floor. Grath Spider Climbs and helps the rest of the Party up ... into the Dark Corridor of ...
The Dragon's Mouth!

An ever Burning Torch is used to light our way down a very long single file tunnel. Grath,
Migwin, Tharnog, Cedrith and then comes Beregon to ... another large Open chamber!
We are starting to get very bad feelings with these large open chambers ... cause nothing good comes from them yet!  The Chamber seems to be squarish ... another
4 pillars outlining a central figure on the floor.   The figure is a circular glyph with no
recognizable ... anything for word or picture???  A large chest sits dead center of the
far wall outside of the circle or 4 pillars that surround the glyph.  We have a very bad
feeling about this ... the Greedy Trio that rushed the Stairs before ... move not an inch.
(Maybe we have finally learned our lesson?  Then again maybe not)  We have determined that the Chest, Pillars and the Circular Glyph are all magical ... Uh - OH!
More cautious we are (might have somthing to do with low health and no spells and
we have all nearly died or come close ... and Man is that Circle Freakn Huge ... Hate to
see the Monster that will come out of that!!! .... Could it be ... a Dragon???  Tharnog had to get rid of the Bec de Corbin didn't he???) and observant.  We notice that while there
seems to be no gate, door or trap to impede or immediate departure ... that long corridor would be great for something breathing fire at us???

Lets sleep on it   We' ll get it in the Morning!!!   Yup! Morning!
1st watch Beregon/Migwin; 2nd Cedrith/Grath  &  Tharnog Usual
Nothing Happens - Yeah!!!  Healing and Spells Back
We figure roughly 2 1/2 days may have passed by now.

Beregon is able to determine that the Pillars shoot flame and are Divine in Nature.  He is
able to disable them.  We can not figure out what the circular glyph will do - but were guessing it will summon something nasty - like before.  Grath tries to disable this circle as he did before on Crimson Pirate's WormBeard's Booty Island! (Nat 20 Nice for a change - Mike is silent Pray Pray Pray)  The Glyph is disabled - Yeah!!!   Although Mike
says that this might only be temporary - time to act fast!  Grath tries to disable the chest or determine if it is trapped .... and .... appears that ... it is not trapped BUT locked!  The Rogue goes to work ... and is useless ... jams up the lockpicks ... chest shoots ACID! I
guess Grath didn't figure out if it was trapped or not!  Grath manages to dodge barely.  The lock is now unpickable so ... Tharnog does what he does best ... SMASHES/BASHES the lock (who needs a Rogue!)  Tharnog's eyes open wide with awe cause inside is
300 Gold Pieces ... that's all ... except a magical false bottom ... and 20 green emeralds and 10 red rubies.  Magical Longsword (+1), Scale Mail, Ring, Sealed Clay Jar and ... a magic Sauve??? (sunblock +1 ???).

Now I am caught up guys, Whew ... finally!!!!   Read Scott's/Migwin entry at top of page which should follow all these chronicles I have been doing.  See you tomorrow!

Stop monkeying around - thats my job!!!

I object!

I won't be here to eat it. Yup, with less than 24 hours before my coveted game of D&D, my sanity break from the holiday busy season, my last refuge of me-time, I have been informed of.......children's Xmas concert. Short notice with no time to run and hide, I must boldly go forth and battle for a folding chair in a smarmy overcrowded school gymnasium.

Sighhhhh..........Migwin drops back another level.

That sucks, have fun and don't use the folding chairs as weapons, the locals frown on that.

Migwins Journal

We are now limping our way back to port after several days on a cursed island. The ship is damaged from the storm we weathered out there. I have been hard at work patching and fixing with what few materials we have, and with Tymora's luck she'll hold together until we reach land.

While the ship isn't easy to fix, even with my skills, I think it will make it. But our souls will be forever marred by the events there, and that won't be so easy. We went ashore with most of the trade goods andanchored down in as secluded of a cove as we could find. Even that didn't prevent the main mast from snapping dury the typhoon. But the ship stayed afloat, and a good thing it did too. Our chances for survial on that gods forsaken rock were rapidly dwindling.

The cave we stayed in seemed secure, at least it was from the elements lashing out at our poor ship. But death came from behind us in the form of great mawed crocodiles. With out warning one of Salty's crew was snapped in half and gulped down. We fought them off, but the place wasn't secure as we had hoped. We explored and bit further and discovered a den of troglodytes. By Tempus fury we fought them, but there is only a handful of us. My companions and I holed up in one of their complexes and it was a defenders battle.

While we were fighting our way back, we found Salty Pete and Percy, and they werer the only ones left. The crew had been wiped out. Salty Pete hasn't said anything, but it was our charge to be the muscle on this trip and I fear we have let him down. With 6 of the crew dead, the workload has increased, but we bear the load as best we can.

Were back in sunny and fair weather, and the sailing now is as good as can be asked for. Tweeter is enjoying getting up in the air again, though he doen't go far from the boat. I for one am getting to like my life at sea, but I do miss the horseclans, the tall grasses and civilization. These northerners I travel with are quite the motley crew, but they are good companions: steadfast, loyal and brave. It is not the life I would have chose, but for now it is a good spot.

My control over the magic is getting better. I am starting to learn to use it more often now. I think with some more experience I will be able to weild it as a weapon more effectively than my sword or axe. Beregon has been a good instructor, and even he is getting more powerful and learning more spells. He has his books, which are a little beyond me. My magic flows from inside, which is kind of hard to put into words adequately. Words, that is also something of a blessing also. Perhaps one day my stories will be read by my sons, should I live long enough to be blessed with any.

I have to get back to repairs. They just called down from the crows nest that Grath is all tangled up in the rigging again. Silly monkey. Maybe I should let dwarf use his axe to cut him out. But then it would be my job to fix the ropes again. Tymora I pray get us back to land swiftly!

You might miss out on the D&D XP but that's quality Dad XP.

One man down for Chinese means we can dail it back a meat dish, and perhaps a noodles. I suggest the Black Bean dish since I just added it for Scotty anyway and ther Shanghai noodles. Should work out to around the same price.
