So yes, it looks like we will be a go for D&D of some form.

To keep things simple I think we'll make it a pizza night for those interested.

no the reason i wasn't going to be coming is because i have been feeling like shit. i don't know it might be something with my meds, i should go see my doctor sometime. but even with feeling like shit i am still coming in to work this week so as soon as i can just curl up in bed for a while i will welcome it. even if it means having to miss a session of d&d, and that is how you can tell i am truly sick.

D&D tonight. Pizza Tonight. Good times.

If you haven't yet posted your musings on Lannister there is still time. The only question is who will we get philosophical about next week, Cutter.... Lil' Dingle..... Snoot....?

Time for a little midweek D&D posting bonus. 2 seperate bonuses in fact, 1 for those who can attend this coming Wednesday and 1 for those who can't.

If you can attend to play D&D next week then I want you to write a little paragraph on why or why not Lannister Lazenby would make a good leader.

If you are unable to attend next week submit a little write up on how you best feel to explain your character's absence while the rest of the party explores the ruined fort bandit lair.

The winner of each bonus will recieve 3 potions or scrolls of thier choice from the minor category in the DMG.

Feel free to post on the other category if you like, who knows maybe you'll earn some bonus points...

Why I think Lannister would make a good leader.

Well, Lannister has potential.  He grew up son of a wood cutter, and left to make a better life for himself.  That shows ambition and desire for self betterment.  He is a card player.  He knows when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em.  He know about risk taking and weighing the odds of success.  That shows that he's calculating.  He has a great support group of friends, and he stands by them when they are in dire straits.  He never lets them fight on alone.  That shows commitment.  He sticks with his friends when they make bad decisions.  He helps them out even when the logical course of action would be to do something safer.    He counsels them with prudent and safe courses of conduct.  That shows integrity.  When his friends are down, he shares his daily drink with them, and helps them know that they are supported by friendship and better days are ahead.  That shows compassion.  He looks at a situation with a critical eye.  He doesn't beleive in rushing into anything.  That shows foresight.

Ambition, self betterment, calculating, commitment, integrity, compassion and foresight.  Lannister Lazenby, a man of intelligence and a man of action.  He would make a great leader.

Why I think Lannister Lazenby would not make a great leader.

Well, Lannister doesn't have much potential.  After all, he is only the sone of a wood cutter.  He didn't even stick around the village to help his fatherless family.  His big ambition was to be a card player and make his fortune off other peoples losses.  He flows like the wind, never staying anywhere for too long.  That show a lack of commitment.  He has great friends, but why does he always leave them to do most of the work.  He never takes watch unless he is pressed into it.  He always walks at the back of the group, so when combat breaks out, he isn't in it.  He has his own ideas of what to do and continues to voice them even after group consenses has said otherwise.  That doesn't make him a very good team player.  He tempts the good paladin with alcohol.  He mocks the bards singing.  He says the cleric preaches too much.  He is bigotted towards his own race and mistrustful of others that are not like himself.  He doesn't like or trust his party's goblin members.  He treats the mage with sarcasm & contempt.  He likes the halfling enough, but wheedled him out of his share of treasure as a finders fee for his lost scimitar.  And, he is so obsessed with the scimitar that you'd think it was cursed.  It's not all about the money there Lannister.  He likes the fighter too, but then lets him take all the danger upon himself whilst he secretly covets the elfs new scimitars.  And he now distrusts elves too.

Lannister Lazenby, as cowardly as he is lazy.  He only sees his present situation as a way to protect himself from the mess he got into with his previous group of friends.  He won't stick around.  When the going gets tough, where will Lannister be?

A two sided arguement me thinks.  Is there any truth to any of it?  Hmmm.....

P.S.  The DM is great!  Mock not the DM!  All praise the DM!

Baring any late entries I think we have our winners. Len gets the 3 potions for his reasons why Casey wil be away and Scott gets the 3 potions for his bi-polar analysis of the state of Lannister's leadership.

And since I'm in a generous mood everyone else who did post can have a free potion too.

Shadow Light Fellowship Chronicles Part VI – June 20, 2007

From notes taken by Felix

After the battle with the Bandits and Ogres we took a short break to heal up as best we could, using up the last of the healing wands.  We then searched the bodies and the rest of the keep. We found some trade goods and some assorted jewelery and a bit of coin.
Near where the battle ended Lanister found a ramp leading down covered with a wooden cover.  After Lanister checked it for traps Cutter opened the cover and we heard bells ringing below, and Veil ran down the ramp like a mad man.  Cutter followed him down and they spotted several bandits hiding behind more crates and barrels of trade goods.  The rest of the group followed shortly thereafter and we somehow managed to get the drop on the bandits.  Veil lit a torch and threw it into the middle of the room onto some of the crates, and we went to work killing the bandits.  There were some great acrobatics displayed by Lanister as he ran up and tumbled over a pile of crates into a flanking position with Felix, and by Veil as he charged and jumped onto a pile of crates attempting to stab one of the Bandits in the face.  We were able to finish the Bandits in the room fairly quickly and to keep the buffing spells that were in affect we continued on through the small tunnel that was the only exit from the room other than the ramp.

At the end of a short corridor we found small room with a locked door, and the bells we had heard earlier. Lanister disarmed the bells just in case and then eventually picked the lock on the door after a failed attempt. Suspecting that there were enemies behind the door and that they had been alerted by the bells we took up flanking positions on the door and were prepared when Lanister opened it.

On the other side of the door were a good numbrer of bandits 2 wizards and the the Bandit leader who was also the guy that killed Veil's father.  We battled them through the doorway for a while and then Cutter saw an opening and moved into the room, the others soon followed and we were able to kill off the bandits, despite being low on spells and some of us wounded, it was a tough battle and the enemy wizards were able to cast several spells against us before we could stop them.

After the leader went down and the rest were slain Veil tried to revive his father's murderer so that he could kill him over and over again.  Gawain would not allow this to go on though.  We then searched the bodies and found some coin a number of weapons and some suits of armor and 2 pairs of bracers. There were also 4 locked chests in the room, Lanister was able to find a hidden recess in the wall that had the keys for the chests.

We opened the chests finding some potions and Dingle's Violin along with some coin and other valubles.  Cutter, Felix and Lanister claimed one of the ale kegs and drank alot of it and spent the rest of the evening peeing on the wall hoping to discover a hidden room.

We spent the night in the bandit compound and the next morning started our travel to Utmlaspyr.  After 3 uneventful days we made it to town and found the trade company and made arrangements for them to send out our 20% finders fee to us in Shadowdale as we did not want to wait the 2 to 3 weeks it would take for them to recover the goods from the hideout.

Still we took a 4 day rest in town.  Durring this time:

We sold off the armor and weapons we recovered for 300gp

Gawain scribed a number of Scrolls

Lanister got drunk and played darts

Felix got drunk and tried to make some crossbow bolts for Lanister he also earned a chicken dinner and 3 copper doing comedy.

Cutter completed work on his Longbow

Veil took a trip to an outlying farm and bought a riding mastif and met up with the missing Thagnor.

Shadowdale Light Fellowship - Chronicles part VI - June 20, 2007

First person Narrative by Lannister Lazenby

Well, the battle was done and we stacked up alot of bandit corpses. I managed to find 3 potions on the guy I knocked out. We searched around the ruins, and couldn't at first find any of the trade goods we had come here seeking. Yet the bandit scum were prepared to defend this location, so it was just a mtter of finding their secret stash. So I went to work.

Lo and behold there is a tunnel cleverly hidden under a fallen door. A large one too. This must be it. Well, it wasn't trapped so down we went. (Just to pint out to the rest of the group, when they accuse me of slacking off watch, I do that to get enough sleep so my wits are about me over this whole searching and disarming traps business. What are they doing while I work, just standing around. And they criticize me. There's gratitude for you). Anyway, down we went.

Sure enough, some of the buggers had held up down stairs. We bust in on them, and engaged them in combat. My acrobatic prowess contributed to the parties success. I've become rather adept at tumling, despite my bad leg. None-the-less, bandits dispatched. We move on and we find an alarm thread made with bells. It must have been the ogres putting this together, or a 5 year old. I disarm that (see how hard I work), and go to work on a locked door. I bust another one of my lockpicks on the darned lock. I'm going to have to get another set, that is the 4th one this week. Either way, one of the other picks worked fine. I sense that this door is locked form the inside, so the group prepares to do battle while I fling open the door and jump back. As combat erupts, and I'm trying to bring my crossbow to the ready, this teeny tiny glowing red ball whizzes past my head. Oh boy, that's bad. Wizards! A fireball erupts behind me. I should have taken the brunt of that one, but somehow luck was on my side and I twisted away and escaped unscathed. I think the wizard didn't use enough bat poo for that one, as it was more flash than fire anyways.

Cutter went to work clearing the way (he is damned fast and efficient with those blades), and Felix and Gawain assisted. Then I see him - Oleg Bolton! I see his nose hasn't grown back either. Boy, I'd sure was wishing I could get to him and put that lieing, thieving bastard out of everyones misery. Veil was trying to get to him too. He has some daddy issues, I just want him dead so I don't have to keep looking over my shoulder everytime I hear the word "bandit". Anyway, the fight continues. Almost there, and his bandits are dropping with relative ease. "You're not so tough now that you're not surrounded in goons, eh Oleg!". I lunged into flanking position and almost took him down. Well he just laughed at me with contempt in his eyes. Then his eyes went wide as a blade burst through his chest. "That's right Oleg, I'm not alone", I said as Felix ran him through! Well I would have liked that honour, and so would Veil, but is was done none-the-less. We dispatched his hired wizards and other scum. The trade goods were retreived and we go about the business we came here for. Veil wanted to raise Oleg from the dead so he could kill him again. Sometimes that little gnome worries me.

So we got to counting boxes, and recovered some nice ale. Felix Cutter and myself made sure to toast to our good fortune. Gawain on the other hand only said we were drinking somebody elses property. I told him we just wanted to make sure it wasn't poisoned (you know what bandits could be like), but I don't think he bought it. Oh well, here's to your health Gawain. We found some keys, and some chests, got the loot, and though I wanted to appropriate some more of the recovered loot, Gawain insisited it all went to the proper owners. I figure the proper owners will be grateful to get any of it, because with out us they would have none. But I suppose he's right. I'd want it returnd if it was me. But any person will tell you that beer doesn't travel well, so we enjoyed it all the way to town. I think I like this adventuring career!

So we ended up in the town of Ursabuthole, or something like that. Finally, inns and wenches and card games. Time for a little R&R. I go about finding a really good set of lockpicks, and have to deal with the usual shady characters to get at such (hey, I'm a legit merchandise recovery expert now). Gawain disappears to pen a few scolls, Veil travelled noth to get himself a riding dog. Man, those short guys. Anyway, he returned with Thagnor. Yay, another drinking buddy! Felix hit the drink, a little too much (show some restraint man). I got him to fletch me some bolts, I just hope they fly straight, that first set just fell apart. Cutter got to work on making a new bow. We sold off the armor and swords, but this little butthole of a town just wasn't paying for what they were worth. Oh well, got my lockpicks covered, and they were superior ones too. And now to go about the business of finding me some nice tavern lasses. I have a good feeling about this......

Felixs' Perspective Narrative

Felix sees crazy Veil charge down a hole that Lannister uncovers from a wooden covering.
Cutter runs after him to insure he doesn't get himself killed only to discover bandits in a
circular room full of crated trade goods. The bandits are aglow under a thrown torch from
Veil. Gads! Are you trying to smoke us out by setting everything a blaze. Veil throws yet
another torch later that luckily does not burn everything; admittedily it is easier to see!

Felix rushes past the party to begin the onslaught. Climbing the crates ends his movement!
A well hidden bandit on the farside evades my longsword swings until Lannister tumbles
gracefully to flank my bandit. Astounds, I powerattack and strike the bandit! Cutter
appears and kills my bandit...he has a way of doing that! I ungracefully climb the crates
and advance on the next bandit. I miss but strike again later...what...Cutter again comes
from nowhere and finishes him off....I am happy .

I cross the cavern and try to attack one of the last remaining bandits. I have missed
a couple of power attacks...a normal swing next...Gads...Veil and a goblin have robbed
me of my kill! Relax...good of the party Felix is still usefull!

We find the next room from a narrow passage. Lannister disarms an alarm we heard
earlier. He fumbles around with picking the door - finally it swings to and we see
tons - o - bandits!!! Are bottlenecking/flanking positions around the door has made
us secure. I strike a bandit around the door after multiple misses I finally hit him ...
Cutter fells him with one STROKE!!!!....STOP THAT!!!

I 5 foot step out of the way such that others may hit and gain entry to the room.
I cross to an advantageous position and ready my bow, I fire into melee and AYE
a marvelous hit....that again Cutter fells as he gains entry into the room. Lathander
preserve us a fireball from behind us...WIZARDS...where is NYMAGUS? Maybe the
party will start appreciating his unique skills soon! Acid arrows into my flesh again
and again! Cutter and party members in the next room are in Jeopardy!!! Must be
all those bandits...finally the Paladin might be of use again.

Crossing into the room I take attacks of opportunity, my health is half myself!
I help others gain a flanking position...this Paladin learns the art of strategic combat!
Sigh...I give up...this is Cutters adventure...I merely assit him in the kills! Fine...off to
my own battle...I attack some loner between the wizards...surely an easy kill!
Gads he strikes back hard ....Ouch.....Stop that....Cutter??? Cutter???
I miss a couple of powerattacks...nearly dead...JOYOUS Cutter where art thou....
there you are lad...thank Lathander...I take one final stroke at ... of course the LEADER!
My powerattack has killed him...yet no one notices....SIGH...

Tis time to get pissed drunk - back to my OLD Ways!
Comedy, mother said I would be good at it! Hic

Still a couple days to post your perspective on the session past. We'll say the deadline is Noon on Wednesday to give Bach and Len a chance to choose their winners.

Georges it is this week. 100 XP to every player who puts an extra order of Bacon on the DM's burger.

We resume more or less where we left offf in town. Things should remain interesting if a little sidetracky......

others whisper of a red attired wizard asking of Elves...
DOG stop sniffing my butt....Oh Lathander I repent...again!!!

Felix....FELIX!  Stop talking to the dog's butt!  His arse won't convert to Lathander!

Sigh.....what do you you do with a paladin who can't hold his liquor?

Pour him another round!

Okay, I heard the Duchess Malroy had a B&E, and lost some gems.  There's a reward offered boys!  Nothing the Shadowdale Light Fellowship can't handle.  There's loot, ladies and larceny.  Sounds like fun.

Well searching a duchess for jewels sounds like more fun than having a halfling  take me for all I'm worth while I fight in the gladatorial arena in Hillsfar so I'm gonna vote for that so long as its on the road back to Shadowdale.

Hello all,

Sorry for the long delay in getting back to people about things.  It has been a very busy week.

Burgers sound good for tomorrow.  Not sure exactly which one I will choose yet.  Then again, maybe I will try something else on the George's menu.

OK, I will try to get everything up to date in the next few posts.

Cheers

Rumours Heard from the Religious Grapevine

Gawain has heard that about a tenday ago a small cult of Moander passed through the area we are now in, heading towards the North-West on mysterious business.  This would seem to say to me we might run into them, depending on exactly which direction we have to travel now to get abck to Shadowdale.

Cheers

Gawain's Scrollwork

Gawain has spent two days in town working on scribing scrolls for the benefit of the party.  Just so everyone is aware (and for those able to cast divine spells if I should fall) of what is available:

6 x Comprehend Languages (CL1)
10 x Endure Elements (CL1)
4 x Obscuring Mist (CL1)
4 x Lesser Restoration (CL3)
4 x Cure Moderate Wounds (CL3)
2 x Cure Serious Wounds (CL5)

In addition, I am still carrying:

2 x Delay Poison (CL1)

Gawain has two leather scroll cases packed full with these scrolls.

Cheers

OK, sorry.  I forgot one thing in the last post.

We obtained 300 gp from selling weapons and armour taken from bandit and ogre corpses.  200 gp of that has been spent on helping Gawain scribe scrolls, and other expenses around town.

So, Bach, you can add a further 100 gp to party coffers for distribution.

Cheers
