| Perhaps we can continue again when things become a little more reliable.
In theory we have a pool of willing players for a Friday night game, we can put our heads together and figure out something to play in the meantime.

| | I would be happy to come out on Friday's as often as I can, and that seems to have been fairly frequently lately. I would be up for pretty much any game and in fact have been feeling myself a little Starwars itch if someone was in the mood to run that or just about anything else. | | World of Warcraft stole my soul. | Well if there's a fairly regular comitment I'm good to keep running the superheroes thing.
I could probably even run a Star Wars thing if no one else if up for it and that's what everyone prefers.

| Well if I'm going to be a regular Friday night DM I wouldn't be switching between games. We'd have to pick one and go with it.
We can decide what that will be here and now or meet this Friday and figure some things out.

| I will be running at 2.0 DDM demo this Friday at Game Knight. Everyone is of course welcome to come down for that.
In theory after that is complete I might be running the Superhero thing. That being said it could be a good opertunity to get all the old Star Wars players together and figure out a permanant direction for what we want to do while Jay's schedule is hectic.
I'll willing to run Star Wars or Superheroes if people like. Lets figure it out.

| At this point there's a big potential pool of players and a lot of ambiguity as to what's going to be done.
If it's Star Wars, and if I'm to be running I have my idea in place more or less ready to go whenever. Assuming it's me running I'd like to keep it to 6ish players max no more than 3 Jedi.
In theory there's Nico, Garret, Rob, and Suzanne from Jay's campaign not to mention Jay if he's interested when his schedule does turn to being able to play. Then there's Ryan, Chris Smythe, Kerry and the others who have been doing Friday MSH with me.
That being said there's probably room for you and your buddy there Scott.
Assuming that everyone wants me to run Star Wars that is.

| That's almost 2 groups. I've been thinking about doing something Thursdays. For a couple of reasons. First, I'm there anyway, and it doesn't cut into any other day of the week which would be problematic. Second, there is a large pool of potential players. Third, Thursdays are slowing down for minis. Many of the SWRPG players are not attending minis anyway.
The drawback here is that I then become unavailable to play minis unless I cancel SWRPG. On the Thursday games I can still run the sanctioned events, I just wouldn't pick up and play the odd person in the event of an odd number. That still leaves Saturdays for DDM. I could also do SWRPG on every second thursday (say when DDM is sanctioned). Not perfect, but gives me a chance to do SWRPG as opposed to none at all. And then I'm GMing on a night when I look after the store, and the customers always want grain milling those nights.
Hmmm........

| I suppose I could share some of my idea for a campaign, I ran a bit of it by Chris.
I'm thinking it's time to make a break with the current timeline we had going from the original campaign, and for that matter the era in general.
With that in mind I was thinking of setting up shop somewhere in the Old Republic Era. Lots of freedom to play with events and yet still keep the classic elements of the Star Wars universe such as the jedi and aliens.
The central plot theme would revolve around the mysterious rise of a new sith lord with one of the young inexperienced PC jedi tasked with the destiny of uncovering him and defeating the sith meanace.
I'd also need a smuggler piloty type to own the groups ship, a massive debt to ye old crime lord, and be swept up into the save the galaxy plot despite his perhaps nefarious past.
Sprinkle in your usual assortment of aliens, droids, force users, nobles, fringers, and other scum of the galaxy and it could be good times.

| Just my opinion but RPG on Thursdays be it Star Wars or D&D will kill any minis on that night. Just as it did with the Wednesday takeover, not to mention Friday and boardgames.
Part of that is to be expected, one of the big reason people play the minis games is for the connection to the RPGs when they can't play those. Give them the opertunity to play the RPG they'll take it.
Once a regular Thursday group is formed a second probably won't be far behind. There's the room and probably the interest but the DDM player pool would be decimated for that night. Not that it's been too strong as of late.
From back in the original game when you had one of those grain grinding nights it sucked. One of those with a bi-weekly schedule would make it hard to sustain momentum. Still, could be an option worth exploring.

| Well, I know there's problems with me taking initiative and doing it. The usual customers, grain grinding, phones ringing and so on. But when we only get 2-3 people coming out, is it worth giving up on something else hoping minis will make a resurgence? I don't know what else to do with it. I like having a store full of customers like we do on Wednesdays.
Maybe the new rules will help - or maybe not. Maybe with a set rotation thing and new tournament formats minis will get some fresh blood, I don't know. I like the SWRPG, and would like to play it. But with D&D Wednesday, and DDM thursday, I have no other night of the week left. Summer is coming and Ultimate will start up again, and now that my regular D&D group is on Mondays, that will have to move as well.
I'll see how minis shapes up over the next few weeks before I decide anything. | | "GameKnight Games and Cool Stuff Winnipeg's source for RPGs and minis!" www.gameknight.ca

| Based on some of the people I talked too last night about half the people on my list above either couldn't commit to a weekly SWRPG campaign or weren't really interested.
With that in mind I don't think I'll be starting one up any time soon. That being said the interest is there for the Superheroes so the Ultra Pals will live on in New Town City perhaps on a weekly basis.

| One last check, if I can get 4 players to commit to playing at least most Fridays I'd be willing to run Star Wars RPG. If you're one of them let me know.
I'm thinking the MSH can be a fall back plan for weeks when attendance is light.

| I am definitely up for a couple of Fridays a month (and for MSH of course) cause I sometimes need to babysit or have something else (March 14 School Fundraiser) on the go. Often I have been available every week; but, sometimes I just can't do it depending.
Someone should check with Garret; cause, i remember him saying specifically he really wanted to play the SWRPG. Ontop of that I would love to continue with my Wookie - non-Jedi. Don't think Garret is still reading this thread. There would be 4 people a couple times a month! | | Stop monkeying around - thats my job!!!

| A week off here and there is fine when there's a special occasion but if I'm going to put the time in to develop a campaign I don't want it to peter out as others have due to the infrequency of playing.
Perhaps Friday's just isn't the best night to be running them.

| I have done the majority of Friday's no problem and could probably continue weekly. I was sold on Jay's 2nd attempt because I missed it and every 2 weeks seemed reasonable constitency.
Friday night does tend to be a bad night in general for most people. Things come up as there are lots of social things scheduled - but - Friday often works every so often cause people just want to unwind and RPG is relaxing to me.
That said - Thursday is possible for me but that would wipe the Friday option out ... possibly. Saturday is out for me. So Thursday or Friday are both a go for me. | | Stop monkeying around - thats my job!!!

| Ryan, Andy and myself played a 3-way Star Wars Mini's last Friday night Mike. Andy expressed an interest in playing both the SWRPG and MSH. He thought he could probably be free every Friday. Would Ryan, Andy and myself be enough for a weekly Friday nite campaign??? I think your idea where some characters float in wouldn't be a bad idea either - but - would 3 regular players be enough? | | Stop monkeying around - thats my job!!! | |

| Andy was quite interested and nostalgic from having played MSH in the past. He said it had been quite some time since he played an RPG and didn't know how to play the Star Wars RPG. Ryan and I said it shouldn't be a problem. He'd like to play both - so the extra players that float in wouldn't be such a bad idea (don't know how you feel about that?) Food for thought - I guess you can tell how desparate I am for another RPG right now!
Either way Andy still has to commit yet - but he did really seem interested. He said he would post on either thread once he knew for sure. | | Stop monkeying around - thats my job!!!

| Well, I can't really make a commitment as yet....I am still awaiting the birth of our second child, and things with work are kind of up in the air at the moment...I just don't want to say "I'm in" and disappoint anyone if I can't be there as often as is necessary to run a successful RPG....
Let's just say I'm extremely interested and leave it at that for a week or so. And yes, as Ryan said, I'd be interested in the SW RPG or Marvel Superheroes......and maybe even good ol' D&D again someday, say when a new campaign comes around.

| Thats not a bad idea to meet Friday and discuss it. I guess good timing is key sometimes - given more time it usually works itself out. I am up for meeting this Friday and doing whatever comes up - mini's or the like.
I certainly understand not wanting to commit and then having it not workout and disappointing someone Andy. So I guess we will see what happens in a bit then!

| It looks like in some form or another we'll have a decent sized core of regular players.
So we'll get together this Friday and make up some characters for those in attendance, perhaps go over the rules a bit and do an introductory scenario should there be time.
As I've mentioned to a couple people out of the group of players who will be there on a regular basis I'll be looking for one to step up and be the Jedi of destiny who uncovers the sith plot and is tasked with stopping the rise of the new dark lord of the sith. He/she will be pretty plot critical at times.
I will also be needing a captain type who'll own the ship you'll be using, some kind of light freighter, along with a debt to a shadowy crime lord. He/she will be intergal to the plot as well, putting the goody two shoes jedi in touch with the dark underbelly of the galaxy.
Other players can take on the role of compatriots of the jedi or crew members of the captain's ship to tie them further in to the main plot arc. Or they may choose to make a character independant of them and get worked into the plots their own way.
The campaign will take place in the Old Republic Era, independant of the films or previous campaigns. Probably roughly 4000 years before the Battle of Yavin.
