I still think it will start at 12:00 (noon) we did try 10:00am for one event, you remember the long wait we had because a store worker changed the time without telling the TO, judge, or several other key players. we did have a nice lunch break before we played though.

I had told myself I wouldn't go until I passed that course (it was online, but it just kept dragging on because I wasn't making enough time for it). Now that I passed it (it was the third of a series of three), I will be coming to the prerelease. | |

None of my brothers-in-law are available/interested. My wife has other plans and has lost most of her interest in skirmishing. My wife is the only one in my RPG group that knows how to skirmish. Our Dragonlance DM isn't skirmishing anymore, either (and he's working from 10 AM to 9 PM that day).

| Add my vote to reducing the time required in the finals. Either evenly split, or maybe a four-player free-for-all.
Whatever we need to do to not add 3+ hours because of finals.

| We are required to do the top. We may end up with the same result as last time, consessions and drops. That was how things were handled last time and it is up to the top four or eight if they want to do it. If any choose to go for the points and the win, the matches are played. If not, players can drop (which gives the opponent the win, and change in rating), but a clear winner must be presented.
If it was up to me, I'd say no break to the top four. But since its on the FAQ, and both Gerald and I are intent on playing, the FAQ will be followed.

| Jarvissteven, just to give you a head's up in case you hadn't heard yet--
The insert in the booster says that Rikka and the Justicator can be played in Epic form at Limited events. The WotC site has issued a correction saying that no Epics can be used in Limited events. I just wanted this to be clear to everyone before anyone drafts anything on the prerelease date so that nobody feels cheated and so that confusion can be minimized.
So, please let whoever will be judging the event know and ask them to announce it ahead of passing out boosters.

By "required to do the top", do you mean that you are required to turn in the top 4 from the event for DCI purposes? My suggestion is that we just use the results from the swiss rounds and tie-breakers to determine the top 4 slots rather than having to do a playoff or requiring the players to take losses.
What does the fact that you and Gerald are playing have to do with the FAQ being followed? I'm very curious to see this FAQ. Will you bring it to the event so that I can see it so that I can be more knowledgeable when I talk about it with others?

The FAQ comes with the kit and should be still at the store. I have not read the FAQ, but I did see the Angelfire one. The FAQ is normally 1 page that lists the rules for the event and how it is recorded in the DCI reporter. When an event is set up you select some settings. If you are having playoff you must select it to do so. The total results are sent to WotC DCI for reporting. I do not know what extra info is sent.
I see not reason as to why we need to run the playoffs, but the FAQ does instruct to do so, and if the top players desire to do so, we are required to do so. If the top players do not want to play the playoff and keep the swiss rankings, no problem, or they could all split the prize. either way works. | |

I have a problem, currently I don't have any money to pay for the pre-release, however if someone is willing to lend me the money I can pay them back within the next month.

well his team did well. Drakkengi came in top 3 (3rd I think) and Chattan can in 4th (I missed on 1 attack roll[:(] at the end of time). Caustic Mouse received 5th and I placed 6th. The other 2 top players took an ID and I think that they are nolonger worth 1 point, but they insisted that they were. I read the NC event that was this was not the case, so I do not know who won with tie breakers. The top 4 decided to split the prizes so we did not hold the finials. over all we had 5 players who went 4-1 (it could be said that 2 went 4-0-1)
Over all we had a good turn out. several new players came on up and a few older one did not make it.
I was dissipointed in my pulls, but was suprised at how well I ended up going. I lost 2 matches out of 5. both loses were very close. I just needed to roll a bit better at very crusial times. 1 match I almost lost because of bad die rolls on my part and very good ones on his, but at the end of the match I got the better die rolls and his want down.
